God Of War Laufey Stars Kratos' Wife Fighting Through The Afterlife Of The Gods

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/40fafdd1/god-of-war-laufey-3.jpg.webp) God of War is back, but this time the next adventure stars Faye, the wife of Kratos and mother of Atreus. What happened after she was laid to rest at the end of the 2018 game? We're about to find out thanks to the game's staggering 23-minute debut gameplay trailer. The demo begins with Faye, or her full proper name of Laufey, given her frost giant heritage, awakening in a mysterious forest immediately after being laid to rest at the conclusion of God of War (2018). Faye is once again portrayed by actress Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil, Daredevil: Born Again, Queen of the Ring). The adventure, which serves as a parallel sequel to God of War (2018), centers on her arrival in the afterlife of the gods –The Everywhen – a bizarre world filled with magical creatures and deities of all shapes, sizes, and cultural origins. "I think in God of War Ragnarök, Odin really was kind of taken by that question: 'What happens when we die?'" say God of War Laufey game director Ariel Lawrence in a sit-down interview(https://youtu.be/jm43XdyL9gc?si=yAtALIWEA-MMiXYP) with Santa Monica Studio creative head Cory Barlog. "'We know what happens to the mortals when they die, but what happens to us?' And so this is an answer for that question, what happens to gods when they die. Things aren't working quite exactly the way they should be in this afterlife of the gods. Magic isn't flowing exactly the way that it should be. So this afterlife's not exactly a paradise. It's a little bit more of a prison." According to an official description on the game's PlayStation Store page, 'Faye discovers the plans she put in place to protect Kratos and Atreus in her absence are now at risk." To save her family, she must battle gods from multiple pantheons, all vying for dominance of the now-corrupted Everywhen. One of these antagonists, shown in the video, is Sekhmet, an Egyptian goddess and the God of War of her pantheon. Combat is a mix of one-handed swordplay, where Faye nimbly hacks away at foes, including popping them skyward for air juggles, while using her free hand to utilize an array of magical abilities, such as blocking attacks. Combat encounters with small foes and larger bosses sport the same over-the-shoulder action as Krato's Norse adventures, but Faye is much quicker and more agile than her husband, making for brisker and more stylish encounters. Everywhen looks as stunning as you would expect from a modern God of War game, boasting a dreamlike whimsy that juxtaposes well with the series' trademark brutality. At one point in the demo, Faye is taken prisoner but escapes thanks to the help of an unlikely ally: a talking cosmic cube with a sword stuck in it. This cube, played by Jack Quaid (The Boys, Novocaine), is named Phranque (pronounced like "Frank"), aids Faye in her quest to return home, including helping her obtain the sword embedded within it. Tied to this sword's hilt are sentient ribbons named Rue (voiced by Perlina Lau), who can not only speak but also aid Faye in combat; the ribbons can extend during sword strikes to attack distant foes and generally help keep enemies at bay. God of War Laufey is coming to PlayStation 5, but it has no release window. It's the latest God of War project Santa Monica has in the oven, following the announcement of the God of War Trilogy Remake(https://gameinformer.com/state-of-play/2026/02/12/santa-monica-studio-is-remaking-the-original-god-of-war-trilogy) earlier this year. Santa Monica also released the side-scrolling prequel game God of War Sons of Sparta(https://gameinformer.com/state-of-play/2026/02/12/god-of-war-sons-of-sparta-is-a-pixelated-2d-action-prequel-that-is-out-now) in February, and you can read our review of that game here.(https://gameinformer.com/review/god-of-war-sons-of-sparta/fighting-in-the-shade-of-greater-games)

Until Dawn 2 Finds Horror In The Sun🎮 PlayStation, Multi-platform

Until Dawn 2 Finds Horror In The Sun

In contrast to the snowy, mountainous landscape of the first game, Until Dawn 2 is set on a tropical island, but still involves a set of horny young people getting hacked and slashed. Just like the first game, it's a cinematic, choice-based horror game where your decisions affect who lives and dies. The game was announced at the June 2026 State of Play(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-state-of-play-june-2026-all-the-biggest-announcements-and-games/). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpVZ9OvRLZI Until Dawn 2 follows a crew of ghost hunters to Akishima Island, which is home to mountain trails, ancient archeological sites, and a former vacation spot that's been abandoned for decades. Though the ghost hunters have faked every encounter with the supernatural thus far, they will encounter evil forces on the island. The trailer only show what appears to be a masked killer, but as fans of the first game can expect, there are likely layers to how this horror story will unfold As in the first game, every player character can live or die based on the choices of the player. They can treat their horrified teens as precious souls in need of protection or as slasher movie hacks best murdered. One such choice is showcased in the trailer. While running away from the aforementioned masked killer, a player can choose to push their companion Luke off a cliff or to jump alone. Pushing Luke seems to result in his death to the rocks below the cliff. Until Dawn already got a spiritual sequel in the form of The Quarry(https://www.gamespot.com/games/the-quarry-2/), where players take the role of teenage camp counselors beset by mysterious beasts. This Until Dawn sequel is not developed by the original developers, Supermassive Games, which have also released many horror games as part of the Dark Pictures Anthology series. Instead, it is helmed by Firesprite, the team behind the Horizon VR game Call Of The Mountain and the survival-horror game The Persistence. Whether Until Dawn 2 has any direct connection to the first game, or the film adaptation (besides the presence of Peter Stormare) is still unknown.

Until Dawn Is Getting A Numbered Sequel

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/09c87e0a/untildawn204.jpg.webp) Sony revealed today during the 2026 Summer PlayStation State of Play presentation that Until Dawn 2 is on the way. Supermassive Games has made plenty of Until Dawn follow-ups as part of its Dark Pictures Anthology series, but this will be a proper numbered sequel to Until Dawn. And its coming from developer Firesprite. The game follows a new group of young people in a vacation location (a tropical one this time) who are ghost hunters working on creating a television show. While making the show, they will have to contend with the ancient evils established in Until Dawn and decisions will happen that will put the fate of the cast into question. The trailer of the game promises that "everyone can live and everyone can die". Until Dawn 2 arrives next year, but Firesprite creative director Stu Tilley says they will offer more details ahead of release. !(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/06/02/cc88dfd0/untildawn201.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/06/02/09c87e0a/untildawn204.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/06/02/16a01157/untildawn203.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/06/02/5ddc4093/untildawn202.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/06/02/880ff9f9/untildawn205.jpg.webp)

New Control Resonant Trailer Shows Glimpse Of Jesse Faden And A September Release Date

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/a5780fae/control04.jpg.webp) Control Resonant is a game we're hungry to get more information about. It's a sequel to a beloved action game from 2019 (which took home our Game of the Year award), but it's a significant shift, as this sequel is a melee-based action game starring the first protagonist's brother, Dylan Faden. And given that Remedy is known for its surreal, absurd game worlds, there's a change this game is even more bizarre than we're prepared for. For those reasons – and because the game just looks sick – we're very excited about the new trailer, which you can watch below: From the story details we see here, the Federal Bureau of Control, the first game's fictional branch of government, is trying to support Dylan and his journey through a shifting New York City, despite the messy history he has with the organization. Dylan has also got to figure out how to get back in touch with his own humanity in the process, and given how much supernatural power he's wielding, it seems easier said than done. Finally, while we don't know how present she'll be in the story, we also get a glimpse (which you can see in the thumbnail of the video above) of Jesse Faden's return. The trailer ends with a release date reveal: Control Resonant is out on September 24, just a little under 4 months from today. For more on the game, check out our preview from earlier this year(https://gameinformer.com/preview/2026/01/27/family-business).
