Matt Groening lets slip that Simpsons: Hit & Run might be making a comeback

At D23, when asked about the potential for a sequel to the cult classic The Simpsons: Hit &38; Run game, Matt Groening replied, "I think the original game is coming back in some form," before current showrunner Matt Selman added, "or not." The tone in both of their voices and the body language suggests that &8230;

Ignore Your Growing Backlog–It’s Time To Play South Of Midnight On Steam

Ignore Your Growing Backlog–It’s Time To Play South Of Midnight On Steam

Look, it's no surprise to anyone for me to admit that I like South of Midnight(https://www.gamespot.com/games/south-of-midnight/). I've written about it being a love letter to the American Deep South(https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/south-of-midnight-review-a-love-letter-to-the-american-deep-south/1900-6418352/), noted how it was one of the best Xbox games of 2025(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/the-best-xbox-exclusive-games-of-2025/2900-7325/2), and talked about how much the game's story, characters, and setting have meant to me on video podcasts for both GameSpot(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=815z1trpMdQ) and IGN(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnkSABRc3EI). I want everyone to play this game, and there's never been a better time to do so on Steam(https://store.steampowered.com/app/1934570/SouthofMidnight/). As noticed by Respec(https://www.respec.net/news/151-south-of-midnight-self-published-steam-compulsion-games-xbox), Xbox is no longer listed as the publisher for South of Midnight on Steam. Instead, the game is noted as being self-published by Compulsion Games, reflecting the studio's independence following another round of severe layoffs and restructuring from Xbox(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-layoffs-studio-closures-and-spin-offs-everything-announced-today/). While Compulsion Games hasn't confirmed whether this is the case--who knows what type of strange and awful backroom clauses might be in place to ensure Xbox keeps getting a slice of this particular pie--this does seem to indicate that all future sales of South of Midnight on Steam will benefit Compulsion, not Compulsion and Xbox. So if you want to play South of Midnight, but you were concerned about continuing to line Xbox's pockets, this seems like the golden opportunity to finally give the action-adventure platformer a go. And you should play it! The game is so good! South of Midnight's selling point is certainly its atmosphere. The sound design and orchestral score(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/south-of-midnights-music-transforms-trauma-into-a-soundtrack/1100-6537016/) are tied into the gameplay and story to put you right into the midst of its gothic fantasy, transforming the trauma of a resilient and multifaceted culture into the backbone of one of the most affecting video games I've ever played. Its combat and platforming aren't exactly wow-worthy, leaning on tried-and-true PlayStation 2-era mechanics without pushing them forward in any meaningful way, but those shortcomings are overshadowed by memorable characters, catchy tunes, and incredible visuals. Like I said in my South of Midnight review(https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/south-of-midnight-review-a-love-letter-to-the-american-deep-south/1900-6418352/), "Compulsion Games hasn’t made a direct sequel to any of its games yet, but it needs to make an exception here." South of Midnight is just that great. Compulsion Games has a real winner here, and you should support the studio by buying and playing South of Midnight, and then joining me in celebrating this gaming accomplishment.

Elder Scrolls Fans Think They’ve Worked Out The Subtitle For Elder Scrolls 6

Elder Scrolls Fans Think They’ve Worked Out The Subtitle For Elder Scrolls 6

Recently, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma saw a demo of The Elder Scrolls 6(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-elder-scrolls-6-release-date-trailer-news/1100-6492383/) and cryptically suggested the game's full name will have an eight-character subtitle(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-elder-scrolls-6-might-have-an-8-letter-subtitle/). That remains to be seen, but Elder Scrolls fans took the morsel of news and ran with it, offering many theories as to what the game could be called. One possibility is a reference found in Bethesda's last big game, Starfield. Fans have suggested subtitles like Dominion, Starfall, Orsinium, Covenant, and, most intriguingly, Sentinel. That’s the name of a city in Hammerfell, a province in the world of The Elder Scrolls, and a top fan theory for where The Elder Scrolls 6 might take place. As for the connection to Starfield, people on Reddit went back to the game's character-creator tool and found a 16-digit employee number that, as it turns out, spells "Sentinel" when dividing the numbers into pairs and associating that with letters of the alphabet. This was actually first discovered years ago(https://www.reddit.com/r/starfieldlore/comments/166kji0/thecustomizationscreenemployeenumberholds/), but the translation to Sentinel is gaining more steam now. https://www.reddit.com/r/TESVI/comments/1vmh7ze/bythewaysentinelwasalreadyteasedin/?utmsource=embedv2&utmmedium=postembed&utmcontent=posttitle&embedhosturl=https%3A%2F%2Fpublish.reddit.com%2Fembed Right now, these are just fan theories. It's entirely possible that Sharma's post with the asterisks meant nothing at all. The Elder Scrolls 6 is indeed likely to have a subtitle, as all previous games in the main series also did. These include The Elder Scrolls: Arena, The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The news about The Elder Scrolls 6 comes amidst upheaval at parent company Xbox as part of a "reset" of the business. The layoffs affected Bethesda as well, and studio staff said they fear further delays for The Elder Scrolls 6(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-elder-scrolls-6-devs-fear-more-delays-after-layoffs-have-crushing-effect-on-morale/) and expressed concerns about the “crushing effect on morale”(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-elder-scrolls-6-devs-fear-more-delays-after-layoffs-have-crushing-effect-on-morale/) from the layoffs. When Sharma came to visit the Bethesda offices in Maryland this week, protestors installed a Scabby the rat inflatable and planted fans in the ground for every developer laid off(https://x.com/tomwarren/status/2087469730848296970). The Elder Scrolls 6 is one of multiple new games in the works at Bethesda and its supporting teams. Some of the others include remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fallout-5-re-confirmed-alongside-fallout-3-and-fallout-new-vegas-remasters/), while Obsidian is working on some other new Fallout game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fallout-5-re-confirmed-alongside-fallout-3-and-fallout-new-vegas-remasters/). Fallout 5(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fallout-5-release-date-trailer-news/1100-6522412/) is also in the works.
