Polygon RSS FeedAustin Manchester5 min read(3 months ago)

Overview & Key Takeaways

Sony's latest State of Play livestream was full of game announcements and updates for all things PlayStation 5.

Sony Interactive Entertainment returned with a new State of Play on Tuesday to kick into high gear a summer that will be full of new trailers, new game announcements, and more. We knew it would offer an extended look at the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine, but it also included surprise looks at Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Silent Hill: Townfall. Games like the next God of War and Rayman Legends Untold were revealed as the hour-long presentation was a non-stop ride of exciting trailers.

If you didn't want to set aside an hour to watch the stream (understandable) or need a refresher on what was shown during the rapid-fire series of announcements, we have you covered. Here's every major announcement from Sony's June 2026 State of Play.

Extended look at Marvel’s Wolverine

Insomniac’s Wolverine game is the PlayStation 5’s next big exclusive. The studio shared an extended look at its gameplay during the State of Play stream, which included a lot of blood. So much blood! We also got our first look at Jean Grey, who, like Logan, is searching for kidnapped mutants.

Next God of War will star Faye

Deborah Ann Woll's Faye is taking center stage in the newly revealed next God of War game from Santa Monica Studio. The State of Play ended with an extended look at God of War Laufey, which follows Faye... after her death. Can't wait!

Rayman Legends remake arrives this fall

You can’t go a stream without a remake being announced — it’s against the rules. Ubisoft announced Rayman Legends Retold, a remake of the 2013 platformer. It will be released Oct. 1 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Polygon recently demoed it, and you can read our impressions here.

Knights of Doom join the Marvel Tokon roster

Three more fighters were announced for Arc System Works’ next anime fighter, and they're all villains. Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage are joining Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, launching Aug. 6.

Ikumi Nakamura's next game looks awesome

KPop Demon Hunters will want to keep an eye on Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen. It's an upcoming action game where you and up to two other players hunt demons. If the trailer song is anything to go on, the soundtrack will be full of bops.

Bancho the Chef announced

Dave the Diver is getting a stylish prequel. In Bancho the Chef, you'll travel across Asia to learn from the culinary greats.

New trailer and release date for Tomb Raider

Lara Croft journeys through snowy ruins and what looks like an Egyptian tomb in a new look at Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. It's a remake of the first Tomb Raider and will be released on February 12, 2027 — a bit later than its initial 2026 window. Also: dinosaurs! Hell yeah.

The Lost Wild announced

Speaking of dinosaurs — Annapurna is publishing a horror game all about 'em. The Lost Wild looks very frightening. As dinosaurs should be!

Phantom Blade Zero details teased

Phantom Blade Zero won't be out until September, but Sony teased a gameplay deep dive for later in the summer.

Dune: Awakening heading to PS5

Dune has dominated the big screen, and now it's about to dominate your TV. Dune: Awakening heads to PlayStation 5 on Sept. 22.

Dynasty Warrior 3 remastered

Dynasty Warriors 3 is getting the remaster treatment later this year. It'll launch on Oct. 11.

No Rest for the Wicked gets a 1.0 release date

From the developers of the Ori series, No Rest for the Wicked is an action RPG. It's been in early access for a couple of years now, and will launch on PS5 and into 1.0 in October.

Next Onimusha arrives Sept. 25

Capcom revealed Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch on Sept. 25. It’s the first new mainline entry for the action-packed samurai series since 2006. While it features plenty of parries, Onimusha isn’t a Soulslike — good news for those tired of the genre. A demo is available now.

New look at Silent Hill: Townfall

Annapurna had another appearance during the State of Play. It included a new trailer for the upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall, launching Sept. 24. Its monsters look even creepier than those scarecrows from last year's Silent Hill f.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve flies into a fall release date

Bandai Namco showed off a new trailer for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. The flying looks very slick and action-packed, and you'll be able to play it on Oct. 2.

Stuntman Hollywood coming to a theater near you

Forza who? The State of Play included a look at Stuntman Hollywood, a new racing title about a stunt driver. Looks as chaotic as the Fast and Furious movies. No word yet on how much family it'll include, however.

Prepare to be Ill in 2027

More horror! Ill is a very gory first-person survival horror starring someone who just woke up from a coma. What a world to wake up in! Very The Walking Dead of it.

Control Resonant gets summer release date

Remedy's next adventure is Control: Resonant, a sequel to 2019's Control. It'll star Jesse Faden's brother Dylan as he fights his way through a twisted Manhattan. It'll be released on Sept. 24, because apparently every game this fall is coming out at the end of September.

Marathon season 2 starts today

Marathon: Nightfall, the game's new season, started Tuesday. You can check out its creepy horror vibes for free until June 9.

RuneScape heads to PlayStation

RuneScape: Dragonwilds will launch on PlayStation 5, and be available PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, later this year. It’s a co-op survival crafting game and will be the first-ever RuneScape game to be released on a console.

Until Dawn 2 coming 2027

A new developer, Firesprite Games, is tackling Until Dawn 2. A group of ghost hunters venture to a remote island looking to make a viral hit. Surely, nothing will go wrong! Just like in the first game, everyone has the potential to make it out alive — or die. Their fates are in your hands.

Watch God Of War Laufey Star Smash The Last Of Us Golf Club Prop On Her First Day

Deborah Ann Woll plays Faye in the upcoming PS5 game God of War Laufey(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/god-of-war-laufey-gameplay-release-date-and-everything-we-know-so-far/), and she had quite a memorable first day on set. At San Diego Comic-Con recently, she shared a story about how, on her very first day, she broke a famous prop from The Last of Us due to her strength and tenacity--only she didn't know the significance at the time. And now, footage of the event has arrived. "Unbeknownst to me, this was a very famous prop that they had used on The Last of Us," she said, going on to joke that it was "some sort of sporting equipment." It was actually a golf club prop, and you probably know what that means... "They gave it to me and I was supposed to use it like an axe. And I broke it," Woll said. Game director Ariel Lawrence added, "She swung it so hard, it cracked. And it echoed throughout the volume. And we were like, 'Hot damn, let's go.'" https://twitter.com/SonySantaMonica/status/2088280064974635337 God of War: Laufey is in the works now for PS5, and it's arriving in February 2027(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/surprise-god-of-war-laufey-has-a-release-date-and-its-kratos-led-sequel-has-been-announced/). Starring alongside Woll is The Boys actor Jack Quaid, who plays a gelatinous cube named Phranque(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/god-of-war-laufeys-phranque-is-far-from-just-a-cube/). A new Kratos-led game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/surprise-god-of-war-laufey-has-a-release-date-and-its-kratos-led-sequel-has-been-announced/) is coming after that, and it will pick up where Laufey left off(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/kratos-next-god-of-war-game-will-pick-up-where-laufey-leaves-off/).

Wolverine on the PS5 made me care about Marvel’s mutant for the first time

Going into my demo of Marvel's Wolverine, I mainly wanted to try out the game's very bloody combat. And it is delightfully bloody. But after two-ish hours of slashing and stabbing (and parrying!) enemies with Wolverine's claws, I left surprised - despite no previous attachment to the character, I was deeply endeared to Logan himself. &8230;
