Overview & Key Takeaways

Saber Interactive has announced Stuntman: Hollywood, a new racing action game that will feature vehicles from franchises like Back to the Future

One of the more surprising announcements of today's State of Play was Stuntman: Hollywood, a revival of a PlayStation 2-era game series where players perform stunts on fictional movie sets.

Like Stuntman: Ignition, this game seems to be primarily focused on vehicle-based stunts, gamifying the racing and vehicle-combat filmmaking process. It's being developed by Saber Interactive, which is known for publishing games like Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and World War Z. Those are licensed games, and it looks like that experience enabled Saber to bring some real-world franchises into Stuntman: Hollywood.

While previous Stuntman games had players performing in fictional movies, the reveal trailer for Stuntman: Hollywood features vehicles from series like Miami Vice, Knight Rider, Back to the Future, and Death Race.

A PlayStation Blog post also revealed more details about the game. Stuntman: Hollywood's developers reveal that they took inspiration from titles like Burnout and Split/Second for the gameplay, but that the whole game is built around performing during movie shoots for real-world Hollywood franchises.

The game is structured in an episode format, with each "episode" presenting players with different challenges. These range from simple drifting challenges to ones where the player has to dodge gunfire as they're being relentlessly shot at. By completing the main objectives and bonus challenges, players earn stars that can be used to progress through the game and unlock new items for their garage.

Seeing licensed cars in video games isn't uncommon, but it's usually for normal racing games like Forza Horizon 6. Stuntman: Hollywood appears to be taking a much more explosive and franchise-driven approach to its licensing, so it'll be interesting to see just how many franchises Saber can get into this game.

Stuntman: Hollywood is in development for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. It does not have a firm release window at this time.

Watch God Of War Laufey Star Smash The Last Of Us Golf Club Prop On Her First Day

Deborah Ann Woll plays Faye in the upcoming PS5 game God of War Laufey(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/god-of-war-laufey-gameplay-release-date-and-everything-we-know-so-far/), and she had quite a memorable first day on set. At San Diego Comic-Con recently, she shared a story about how, on her very first day, she broke a famous prop from The Last of Us due to her strength and tenacity--only she didn't know the significance at the time. And now, footage of the event has arrived. "Unbeknownst to me, this was a very famous prop that they had used on The Last of Us," she said, going on to joke that it was "some sort of sporting equipment." It was actually a golf club prop, and you probably know what that means... "They gave it to me and I was supposed to use it like an axe. And I broke it," Woll said. Game director Ariel Lawrence added, "She swung it so hard, it cracked. And it echoed throughout the volume. And we were like, 'Hot damn, let's go.'" https://twitter.com/SonySantaMonica/status/2088280064974635337 God of War: Laufey is in the works now for PS5, and it's arriving in February 2027(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/surprise-god-of-war-laufey-has-a-release-date-and-its-kratos-led-sequel-has-been-announced/). Starring alongside Woll is The Boys actor Jack Quaid, who plays a gelatinous cube named Phranque(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/god-of-war-laufeys-phranque-is-far-from-just-a-cube/). A new Kratos-led game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/surprise-god-of-war-laufey-has-a-release-date-and-its-kratos-led-sequel-has-been-announced/) is coming after that, and it will pick up where Laufey left off(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/kratos-next-god-of-war-game-will-pick-up-where-laufey-leaves-off/).

Wolverine on the PS5 made me care about Marvelโ€™s mutant for the first time

Going into my demo of Marvel's Wolverine, I mainly wanted to try out the game's very bloody combat. And it is delightfully bloody. But after two-ish hours of slashing and stabbing (and parrying!) enemies with Wolverine's claws, I left surprised - despite no previous attachment to the character, I was deeply endeared to Logan himself. &8230;
