Subnautica 2: Heat Tolerance explained

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/subnautica-2-dying-to-heat.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) If you've done much exploring to the east of your starting area in Subnautica 2(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/subnautica-2), you'll likely have come across a region of the ocean where the temperature starts to increase. This "hot biome" is home to a great many thermal vents which spew out boiling hot water, and if you try to push into the area, you'll find that your flimsy terrestrial body simply cannot handle the heat. Fortunately, there's a way to adapt to the incredible heat in this region. In the guide below, I'll walk you through exactly how to explore the hot biome in Subnautica 2, by unlocking the Heat Tolerance Adaptation via the Bloom infestations near spawn. !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2025/12/10/1ec93946/ossscreenshot03.jpg.webp) The Witness(https://gameinformer.com/games/thewitness/b/playstation4/archive/2016/01/25/the-witness-review-game-informer.aspx) and Braid(https://gameinformer.com/2023/11/09/braid-anniversary-edition-turns-back-the-clock-next-april) director Jonathan Blow revealed Order of the Sinking Star(https://gameinformer.com/product/order-of-the-sinking-star), a massive puzzle mash-up game, at The Game Awards back in December for PC. Now, Blow has announced that Order of the Sinking Star will also launch on Nintendo Switch 2 sometime this year alongside the PC release. Unfortunately, despite the platform update, Blow and his team at developer Thekla haven't revealed the game's release date, sticking to the vague "2026" for now. Nonetheless, Order of the Sinking Star looks like a great game for Switch 2. Check out the Switch 2 trailer for Order of the Sinking Star below for a look at how it runs: Game Informer senior associate editor Marcus Stewart previewed the game ahead of its reveal last year and came away very impressed – you can read his Order of the Sinking Star preview here(https://gameinformer.com/preview/2025/12/11/the-creator-of-braid-and-the-witness-reveals-his-most-ambitious-puzzle-game-yet). The AI-Powered Tech Behind PSSR 2 Is Coming To Older AMD GPUs, Including The Steam Machine🖥 PC, Multi-platform

The AI-Powered Tech Behind PSSR 2 Is Coming To Older AMD GPUs, Including The Steam Machine

After nearly a year of speculation, AMD has announced that it is bringing its latest generation of AI-powered upscaling technology, FSR 4.1, to its older generations of GPUs, starting with RDNA 3 cards as early as July. FSR 4.1 launched in March for AMD's latest GPUs, namely the RX 9070 XT, 9070, and more. Older, but just as capable, RDNA 3 cards such as the RX 7900 XTX, have been stuck on FSR 3, with AMD repeatedly stating that newer hardware in its latest cards enabled the AI upscaling in a way previous architecture couldn't. That is no longer the case, with AMD's Jack Huynh(https://x.com/jackhuynh/status/2054904153013387273) stating that the company has done a lot of work to ensure the upscaling suite is optimized for the older hardware. Better still, he says AMD is also planning to release FSR 4.1 on even older RDNA 2 GPUs, such as the one found in the Steam Deck, in early 2027. This not only enhances older desktop GPUs during a time where the price of PC hardware has increased exponentially, but it also is good news for upcoming RDNA 3 devices, like Valve's Steam Machine(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/steam-machine-release-date-price-everything-we-know/1100-6536286/). When it was originally announced, Valve said that the living-room PC would leverage upscaling to support games at 4K, but the reliance on FSR 3 at the time didn't make that option too enticing given its shortcomings. With FSR 4.1, the same technology that currently underpins Sony's PSSR 2(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps5-pros-upgraded-pssr-is-rolling-out-today-here-are-the-first-games-getting-it/1100-6538811/) on the PlayStation 5 Pro, that is a different discussion entirely. What might be even more potentially exciting is AMD's promise to also bring FSR 4.1 to even older RDNA 2 GPUs in early 2027, which includes those found in the Steam Deck. The news also suggests that consoles like the Xbox Series X could start leveraging the latest version of FSR, too, but that would be solely up to developers. And considering recent releases, such as Pragmata(https://www.gamespot.com/games/pragmata/), still utilize FSR 1 on both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, there's no guarantee that they will. Still, this is great news if you've been looking to get more from your existing hardware, and should go a long way to making games look better when being scaled up from lower resolutions. How much performance you'll be able to claw back at the same time, however, remains to be seen.

It’s Equally Exciting And Worrying That Some Of The Best VR Games Are Coming To Console

Some more classic virtual reality games are coming to flatscreen gaming platforms, as Polyarc has announced Moss: The Forgotten Relic. It's great that more players will have access to these wonderful games, but it does feel like a result of the struggles that VR gaming currently faces. Moss: The Forgotten Relic(https://www.polyarcgames.com/news/announcing-moss-the-forgotten-relic) combines Moss(https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/moss-review-tiny-triumph/1900-6416866/), Moss: The Twilight Garden, and Moss: Book 2 into a singular experience for Steam and PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo consoles. Like in the VR games, players will guide a mouse named Quill through a storybook adventure, interacting with the world to help out along the way. This version reworks the camera and presentation to work on flatscreen TVs or monitors, when it previously did not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-0bqE1wl00 The Moss games are truly some of the best VR experiences out there, so any console player who picks Moss: The Forgotten Relic will likely be in for a great time. That said, it's hard to ignore that this is happening during a rocky year for the VR gaming industry. Meta largely pulled out of first-party development by shutting down its studios in January(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/meta-shuts-down-the-studios-behind-deadpool-vr-asgards-wrath-2-and-resident-evil-4-vr/1100-6537375/), and many other VR studios have shut down or laid off developers(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ubisoft-just-ceased-game-development-at-the-studio-that-created-rainbow-six-report/1100-6538894/). There's also a larger trend of VR-built games coming to flatscreen platforms this year. Famed VR developer Survios recently ported Alien: Rogue Incursion to consoles(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/alien-rogue-incursion-is-escaping-vr-with-new-enhanced-edition/1100-6531418/), only to subsequently lay off several developers(https://www.uploadvr.com/survios-reportedly-sees-critical-layoffs/). The Myst and Riven VR remakes are also coming to more consoles(https://cyan.com/2026/05/05/myst-and-riven-console-announce/) soon. Even the successful VR developers now feel the need to branch out into more traditional console games. Moss: The Forgotten Relic will be released for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S sometime this summer.

Subnautica 2: Where to find Silver🖥 Xbox, PC

Subnautica 2: Where to find Silver

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/subnautica-2-silver.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) Silver is probably the most elusive of the basic materials in Subnautica 2(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/subnautica-2). It's easy enough to find Titanium, Copper, and Quartz, but for Silver you will need to leave the starting biome behind. And you'll need to find Silver soon, because without it you have no way of increasing your Oxygen supply for longer and deeper dives. Even if you have already found Silver nodes, it's highly likely you've only found the large Silver nodes which can't be mined without specialised equipment. And here's the kicker: that specialised equipment requires Silver to make! So how do you get your first Silver in Subnautica 2? I'll show you exactly where to go below, as well as the best and most efficient Silver locations later on in the game. Read more(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/subnautica-2-where-to-find-silver)

Subnautica 2 Databank entries🖥 Xbox, PC

Subnautica 2 Databank entries

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/subnautica-2-scanning-epicurean.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) Update: Added 22 new Databank entries (15th May 2026). Aside from your inventory, the Databank is probably the most powerful tool available on your PDA in Subnautica 2(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/subnautica-2). Every time you scan a creature for the first time, or unlock a recording from one of the crew here before you, you'll gain a new entry in your Databank which you can use to gain new (and practical) knowledge for the rest of your playthrough. If you're a completionist like me, there's no doubt you'll be after the full list of Databank entries available in the game. I've spent dozens of hours swimming around the whole map tracking down every last scannable item, fish, and recording to bring you - hopefully - the best possible Subnautica 2 Databank resource anywhere online. Subnautica 2: How to get Oxygen in your base

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/subnautica-2-oxygen-production-offline.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) Oxygen is your most important resource in Subnautica 2(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/subnautica-2), and it's important to give yourself as many ways as possible to top up your Oxygen, wherever you are in the ocean. The best way to do this is by building yourself a base near anywhere you'll be diving often. But after you've fashioned yourself a Habitat Builder and constructed your first base, you might be wondering: how do you supply your base with Oxygen? There's a very simple answer to this question, and it involves Power. Read on to find out exactly how to get Oxygen in your base in Subnautica 2, so that any base you construct in the world becomes a safe haven of breathable air for all your diving needs. Subnautica 2: How to increase Oxygen

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/subnautica-2-swimming-as-a-group.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) One of the most powerful and important upgrades you can make to your equipment in Subnautica 2(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/subnautica-2) is to increase your max Oxygen supply. When you begin the game, you are limited to a maximum of 45 seconds of breathable air before you start to drown. There are ways to top up your air supply during a dive (including Oxygen-emitting plants, and sacrificing the air in your Air Bladder for an extra Oxygen boost). But in reality, your progress will be severely limited until you craft yourself an Air Tank to boost your Oxygen supply. In this guide, I'll walk you through everything you need to get in order to craft the three most important Oxygen supply items: the Standard Air Tank, the High Capacity Air Tank, and the Rebreather. Each of these serves as a massive progression milestone, and it's worth completing all the steps below as quickly as possible in your playthrough. Subnautica 2: Where to find Lead

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/subnautica-2-inventory-filled-with-lead.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) Lead is a key resource later on in Subnautica 2(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/subnautica-2), alongside other elusive materials such as Lithium and Silver(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/subnautica-2-where-to-find-silver). You will need Lead not only to produce the Sonic Resonator - one of the most useful late-game tools available to you - but, unexpectedly, to improve your cooking skills and your diet. It's a must-have resource, but there's only one area in a 500-metre radius around your Lifepod where you can find Lead. Read on to find out where to get all the Lead you need in Subnautica 2! Subnautica 2: Where to find Lithium

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/subnautica-2-lithium-on-cave-wall.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) Finding Lithium is one of the most important resource milestones in Subnautica 2(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/subnautica-2). Your first piece of Lithium can be used to dramatically increase your breathable air supply, allowing for deeper dives than ever before. Later on, you'll also be able to use Lithium to craft a Scout Ray Chassis for your Tadpole, dramatically increasing its speed and mobility. It's a wonderful resource. If you're struggling to find Lithium, you're not alone. It's a tricky material to find unless you know exactly where to look, and the usual place to find it - the Zezuran Desert - is far too hot for you to explore without the right Adaptation. Fortunately, there's a far easier place to find all the Lithium you need, and it's a mere 350 metres from your Lifepod! Read on to find out where to get Lithium easily in Subnautica 2.
