PS5 Exclusive Destruction AllStars Has Been Delisted And Is Shutting Down This Fall
!Destruction AllStars(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2020/06/12/5dcb11ed/3.jpg.webp) Destruction AllStars(https://gameinformer.com/new-gameplay-today/2021/02/02/new-gameplay-today-destruction-allstars), the multiplayer vehicular arena combat game, was among the PlayStation 5’s first exclusive titles, and now it’s time to bid it farewell. The game is shutting down this Fall and has already been removed from sale. Players are receiving emails from PlayStation notifying them that, as of today, Destruction AllStars has been delisted from the PlayStation Store along with its Destruction Points virtual currency. Additionally, the game’s multiplayer services have been disabled for good. However, owners can still play the game’s single-player modes until November 25, when, at 11:00 a.m. ET, all server support will cease. After this date, Arcade Mode single-player challenges will remain playable, though PlayStation warns that its functionality and the overall experience may be impacted by the server shutdown. Remaining Destruction Points owned by players can be redeemed in the available single-player modes until November 25. Destruction AllStars launched on February 2, 2021, and was developed by Lucid Games. The game lets players step into the driver’s seats of wacky vehicles to battle other drivers in over-the-top destruction derby matches. In addition to using the car as a weapon, the driver could exit vehicles to roam freely and even steal an opponent’s car. It was pretty nuts, and we liked it enough to score it an 8 out of 10(https://gameinformer.com/review/destruction-allstars/destruction-allstars-review-wrecking-havoc-in-the-arena) when it launched, with reviewer and former GI editor Jeff Cork writing, “Even if the novelty of vehicular mayhem isn’t enough to sustain my interest for many more long-haul sessions, I’m looking forward to taking it for a quick spin every now and again.” Unfortunately, Destruction AllStars is far from the only multiplayer game having its lights turned off this year. 🎮 PlayStation, Multi-platformSony delists and shuts down PS5 multiplayer game Destruction AllStars
Destruction AllStars, a one-time PlayStation 5 launch game, has been removed from the PlayStation Store and taken offline, 5 years after release.
🎮 PlayStation, Multi-platformOne Of Sony’s First PS5 Exclusives Is Now Delisted, Multiplayer Shut Down
Destruction AllStars,(https://www.gamespot.com/games/destruction-allstars/) the multiplayer-focused vehicle combat game and Sony first-party exclusive originally slated to be a PlayStation 5 launch title before instead becoming a PlayStation Plus freebie(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps5-exclusive-destruction-all-stars-delayed-to-2021-will-be-a-free-ps-plus-game/1100-6483750/), is now offline and no longer available on the PlayStation Store. Searching for the game on Sony's storefront doesn't bring up developer Lucid Games' car brawler. Players received a game-service shutdown notification (confirmed by GameSpot) that informed them Destruction AllStar's multiplayer services have been taken offline and that Destruction Points, the game's premium currency, have been removed from sale. https://bsky.app/profile/wario64.bsky.social/post/3mmrjpgetes2f For those who already have Destruction AllStars in their library, the game's offline Arcade mode will remain playable, according to the notification. Destruction AllStars was published by Sony and intended to be a full priced PS5 launch title alongside games like Bluepoint's Demon's Souls remake. However, the game was delayed in the leadup to the PS5's launch, instead releasing three months later in February 2021. When it finally arrived, it was no longer a premium game, but rather a free title included as part of PS Plus for two months. After that two-month window, it could be bought for $20. More recently, it was included as part of PS Plus Extra. The car brawler was intended to be a live-service title, but only received one season in May 2021. That same month, Lucid Games' announced it would add bots to the game's online multiplayer(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/new-destruction-allstars-update-will-add-online-bots/1100-6492173/) to help fill matches. Unlike more recent live-service Sony games like Helldivers 2 and Marathon, Destruction AllStars never released on PC or Xbox. Destruction AllStars is just one of many live-service games to be shut down(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/live-service-graveyard-all-the-games-shut-down-far-too-soon/2900-5747/9) in recent months and years, though it did technically survive much longer than most (despite only launching a single season). Other high-profile game shutdowns in recent memory include this year's short lived Highguard(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/highguard-is-shutting-down-soon/1100-6538541/), from former Titanfall developers, and Sony's own Concord(https://www.gamespot.com/games/concord/), a first-party hero shooter that lasted just over a week before its plug was pulled(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/sonys-new-game-concord-going-offline-after-just-over-a-week/1100-6526235/) in 2024.
