5 new PS5 games to play in June 2026

Polygon RSS FeedAustin Manchester3 min read(3 months ago)

Overview & Key Takeaways

From a new HD-2D RPG to a must-play subway platformer, June is stacked with exciting new PS5 games.

Last month was huge for PlayStation 5 gamers, with Mixtape, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, 007 First Light, and more all being released one after the other. June slows down a bit in terms of new releases as the gaming world shifts its focus toward new game announcements. Events like Sony's State of Play and Summer Game Fest take center stage, but there are still enough new games coming out to soak up your free time.

From an exciting subway skating game to a new HD-2D RPG, there's a little something for everyone this month. Here are five games coming to PS5 in June in order of their release dates.

1 Gothic 1 Remake

Release date: June 5

While you won't be able to play the recently announced The Witcher 3 DLC until sometime next year, the next best thing arrives in June. Gothic 1 Remake is a faithful remake of the 2001 RPG set in the magically walled-off Valley of Mines, a lawless and immersive land full of branching storytelling possibilities. Polygon recently previewed the upcoming Gothic 1 Remake and walked away impressed, writing, "25 years after the original's release, this game feels utterly unique. While I've only set foot in the Old Camp, I have faith that the rest of Gothic 1 Remake will prove just as brutally magnificent."

2 Denshattack!

Release date: June 17

Denshattack! is basically a skating game, except your skateboard is a high-speed train that would rival Sonic in terms of going fast. Kickflip, grind rails, and ollie your way throughout an alternate future Japan that's been devastated by climate change as you ferry supplies between cities. Denshattack! being centered around trains isn't just some gimmick. "We are fond of trains. We are fond of Japanese trains in particular," Undercoders' David Jaumandreu recently told Polygon. "So I guess that's one of the reasons that Denshattack! exists — is that we are skateboard guys, we are also train guys, Japanese train guys in particular."

3 Adventures of Elliot

Release date: June 18

Octopath Traveler fans and enjoyers of HD-2D RPGs in general won't have to wait long for their next time-suck of an RPG. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales gets released in June and brings something new to the HD-2D space. Instead of turn-based combat commonly associated with these types of RPGs, Elliot will feature real-time combat. After previewing it in May, The Adventures of Elliot instantly became one of our most-anticipated games of the summer. "The relentlessly satisfying and succinct gameplay loop of The Adventures of Elliot made my hour with the game fly by."

4 Hell Let Loose: Vietnam

Release date: June 18

The next Hell Let Loose takes its large-scale 50v50 matches to Vietnam. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam's central Warfare mode is a tug-of-war-like battle where players fight to obtain and control different sectors of the map. It's a much sweatier game than a casual FPS like Call of Duty, and out-positioning and out-thinking your opponent are just as important as out-gunning them. Polygon got to preview it this spring and said Hell Let Loose: Vietnam "might be the most realistic shooter I've ever played."

5 Dead or Alive 6: Last Round

Release date: June 25

During PlayStation’s February State of Play stream, Koei Tecmo revealed a new Dead or Alive game was in development, but didn't share much more on it. While you wait for that game, though, a remastered version of the last Dead or Alive release arrives this month. Dead or Alive 6 Last Round will launch with free-to-play and paid versions, like the original release. Polygon enjoyed the "straightforward, enjoyable fighting system" of the 2019 version, but noted in our review that the oversexualization of the game's female characters gets in the way of a fun time.

Watch God Of War Laufey Star Smash The Last Of Us Golf Club Prop On Her First Day

Deborah Ann Woll plays Faye in the upcoming PS5 game God of War Laufey(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/god-of-war-laufey-gameplay-release-date-and-everything-we-know-so-far/), and she had quite a memorable first day on set. At San Diego Comic-Con recently, she shared a story about how, on her very first day, she broke a famous prop from The Last of Us due to her strength and tenacity--only she didn't know the significance at the time. And now, footage of the event has arrived. "Unbeknownst to me, this was a very famous prop that they had used on The Last of Us," she said, going on to joke that it was "some sort of sporting equipment." It was actually a golf club prop, and you probably know what that means... "They gave it to me and I was supposed to use it like an axe. And I broke it," Woll said. Game director Ariel Lawrence added, "She swung it so hard, it cracked. And it echoed throughout the volume. And we were like, 'Hot damn, let's go.'" https://twitter.com/SonySantaMonica/status/2088280064974635337 God of War: Laufey is in the works now for PS5, and it's arriving in February 2027(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/surprise-god-of-war-laufey-has-a-release-date-and-its-kratos-led-sequel-has-been-announced/). Starring alongside Woll is The Boys actor Jack Quaid, who plays a gelatinous cube named Phranque(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/god-of-war-laufeys-phranque-is-far-from-just-a-cube/). A new Kratos-led game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/surprise-god-of-war-laufey-has-a-release-date-and-its-kratos-led-sequel-has-been-announced/) is coming after that, and it will pick up where Laufey left off(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/kratos-next-god-of-war-game-will-pick-up-where-laufey-leaves-off/).

Wolverine on the PS5 made me care about Marvel’s mutant for the first time

Going into my demo of Marvel's Wolverine, I mainly wanted to try out the game's very bloody combat. And it is delightfully bloody. But after two-ish hours of slashing and stabbing (and parrying!) enemies with Wolverine's claws, I left surprised - despite no previous attachment to the character, I was deeply endeared to Logan himself. &8230;
