How to complete the Forge it Anew quest
To retrieve the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai, you first need to carry out some very vital steps. Here's the full walkthrough for the Forge it Anew quest:
- Head to the cathedral
- Defeat St. Mihai
- Head to Maragir
- Investigate the camp
- Head to Shrike's Crag
- Head to Tantari
- Eliminate the soldiers at the outpost
- Visit the Uriash blacksmith
- Scout the forest
- Imbue St. Mihai's sword
1. Head to the cathedral

At the cathedral in Svartrau City, you'll trigger a howling in the courtyard outside. This will begin the Night Terrors quest that will lead you to a well where there's howling inside. After lifting the wooden guard off the well, you descend into the well and fight the kobolds. Inspecting the well will reveal there's a crypt under St. Mihai's crypt. This will launched into the A Monk and a Saint quest. You'll then move a large rock out the way to find your way back into the courtyard.

Then, you'll need to find St. Mihai's crypt by inspecting the crypts covered in leaves and dirt outside. This is the one centered at the front between the tree on the right and the crypt with the cross for a headstone on the left. Coen will sweep away the mess and inform you if you've uncovered the right crypt. For St. Mihai, he's located in the bottom middle crypt. Head underground to come up against St. Mihai encased below. You will learn he is also a Dawnwalker, but you will need to defeat him to continue your quest.
Mark step as finished.
2. Defeat St. Mihai

A fight with St. Mihai is difficult, but by no means impossible. He's pretty old and also pretty decomposed, but he'll inform you that his sword has been shattered into pieces. This information comes laced with a warning that you're being watched, but also that The Augurs can help. You will receive the Broken Sword of St. Mihai.

This will officially begin the Forge it Anew quest. First things first, before leaving the crypt, be sure to loot St. Mihai's cell using Focus Mode. Mihai's Journal is an important find as inside the journal, you'll learn you need to do two things. Search for an Uriash blacksmith to weld the broken shards back together and, of course, find the sword shards to bring to the blacksmith.
Mark step as finished.
3. Head to Maragir

Mihai's Journal mentions travelling to Maragir. So, to help with this quest, you should scale the Maragir Wealds Tower at night to scout out locations. A question mark will appear north of Maragir Wealds. This is where you must head next.
Mark step as finished.
4. Investigate the camp

At the question mark, a quest will trigger as you approach titled Forge it Anew: Do Not Disturb. Here, you will find an abandoned camp where you can pick up Florin's Orders. It reveals the people of the camp have been asked to check out a shrine dedicated to St. Mihai in a forest near Laslea, this forest.
You will need to fight some undead as you approach the cave here. Once inside, you'll inspect a painting of a map on the wall. This will reveal all three locations, including the one you are currently at, of the three sword shards. The other two are in the middle of Svartrau near the quarry of Shrike's Crag and in Tantari, south of Svartrau.

Inside this cave, you will retrieve the first of three sword shards. Note: With all three locations revealed, it doesn't matter which order you do them in, but this is the route I followed. Looking at the map will have revealed the other locations, but I went to Shrike's Crag first.
Mark step as finished.
5. Head to Shrike's Crag

At the quest marker at Shrike's Crag, you'll trigger the Forge it Anew: Hostile Takeover quest, just west of Svartrau City. On approach to the next cave or burrow, you'll notice a big cross.
Inside, there's a Munch-Munch that's a little harder to defeat, but absolutely possible. You'll learn that St. Mihai wanted to slay the kobolds, but lost his blade in the process. There will be another map revealing all three locations again, which makes it entirely clear that you can complete Forge it Anew in whichever order you wish.

Retrieve the second sword shard and head to the final location (only it's not quite that simple).
Mark step as finished.
6. Head to Tantari
The final part of Forge it Anew (in the route I chose) was Forge It Anew: Executive Order. Depending on your level, you may notice that this challenge can appear "nearly impossible", but that's only nearly.
When you arrive at the cave or burrow in Tantari, as located on the map, you'll notice that instead of an easy sword shard to retrieve, it has in fact been ransacked. A Soldier's Letter will reveal they met a man on the road north of Parlita, closer to the mountains, who revealed the Uriash blacksmith's location.
Instead of the sword shard being here, you'll learn that it's been taken by the soldiers back to their outpost.
Mark step as finished.
7. Eliminate the soldiers at the outpost
As you reach the soldier's outpost, you have the option to scout the location on a branch covered with strips of fabric on the hillside overlooking the camp. You'll have to fight everyone regardless, but it's nice to know what you're coming up against.
You must enter the camp and defeat all the soldiers. Though I noticed if you head up the road to the side of the camp, they will eventually stop moving towards you and that gives you a chance to breathe (and take some consumables).

Once you defeat all the guards, loot their bodies as there's some lovely treats including one of the best early weapons in The Blood of Dawnwalker, The Kingslayer. This is a level 21 Legendary Greatsword that will serve you well for the final part of the quest. You'll also loot the final sword shard in a tent in the center of the camp.
Mark step as finished.
8. Visit the Uriash blacksmith
Now that you know the location of the Uriash blacksmith, you can visit them. They'll appear as the Uriash Hermit on your map and will also become another trader/merchant location. Here, you will be able to hand over all three sword shards.
You will retrieve the Restored Sword of St. Mihai, but you'll also learn that it's not complete yet. The Uriash Hermit will instruct you to go into the forest and find a small path. This is where you need to place the sword to imbue it.
Mark step as finished.
9. Scout the forest
In the forest, you'll come to another cave where, surprise surprise, you'll come up against a horde of the undead. Make your way through the cave by following the glowing green mushrooms.
You'll arrive in a room with a glowing red orb that seems awfully inviting. But, before you can imbue St. Mihai's sword, you'll need to kill some pretty gnarly enemies. This is a boss battle, but the reward is worth your vigour.
Mark step as finished.
10. Imbue St. Mihai's sword
Once you defeat all the enemies, you can finally put St. Mihai's sword in the swirling red orb. It'll temper the sword and once complete will reveal that your Restored Sword of St. Mihai is now the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai.

This sword is a level 21 Legendary Greatsword with 331 DPS. Its perks include -9% Swordmastery Ability Cooldown, +9% Weapon Critical Hit Chance, +13.5% Weapon Critical Hit Damage and +14.4% Damage against Supernatural.
A sword worthy of a fight against Brencis? Seems likely. All in day's work (or night's, depending on your own time cycle).
Mark step as finished.
