How to Fast Travel between Beacons in Mortal Shell 2

Rock Paper Shotgun ยป Guidesโœ Jeremy Blumโฑ 4 min read(about 4 hours ago)

Overview & Key Takeaways

Upon teleporting from the Marrow Keep in Mortal Shell 2, you'll witness an epic scene where your Harbinger transforms into a blazing comet as it flies through the sky, crashing down at the Beacon you've chosen to explore in the vast overworld. As awesome as this cutscene is, it may get old after the umpteenth time, and perhaps you simply want to Fast Travel between Beacons without returning to the Marrow Keep so much.

Fast Travel isn't immediately available in Mortal Shell 2, and was a point of contention amongst many players of the game's beta. But don't worry, all you need to do is keep playing. In this guide, we'll tell you exactly how to Fast Travel between Beacons in Mortal Shell 2, and when you can expect to unlock this crucial ability.

How to Fast Travel between Beacons

To Fast Travel between Beacons, you need to collect Ova and siphon them within the Marrow Keep's Ovum Siphon chamber.

In my playthrough, I had 7 Ova when I unlocked Mether's Breath. You enter the open world with 3 Ova in your possession (1 from completing the Prologue, and the Marrow Keep disciples have already found 2).

The fastest way to collect Ova in Mortal Shell 2's early hours is by Cleansing the Mushroom Village and Mushroom Village Gate Beacons, which provide you with 1 and 3 Ova respectively. See our Mushroom Village walkthrough for info on both of the dungeons contained within these Beacons.

Once you have Mether's Breath, you can go up to any Beacon and select the 'Mether's Breath' option. This lets you Fast Travel between all of the Beacons that you've already unlocked.

Importantly, Mether's Breath also lets you cleanse walls of corruption, which are those blackened, fragmented barriers keeping you from certain locations at the start of the game. With this ability, much more of the world will become open to you, and you'll be well on your way to finding pivotal items like the Troubadour's Lute.

A note on Fast Travelling to Beacons not on your map An extra tip from Jeremy

Mortal Shell 2 utilises an unusual map system. You need to obtain pieces of the world map from the skull-faced raven Ruk, so it's very possible to unlock Beacons that technically aren't displayed on your map, simply because you haven't found those pieces yet. Don't worry - while it's a bit disorientating, Mether's Breath lets you Fast Travel to every Beacon, regardless of whether it's actually on your map yet or not. Just select the right one from the displayed list.

Once Fast Travel is unlocked, it'll probably become your main method of transport. Don't forget to return to the Marrow Keep on occasion though, to upgrade your weapons, unlock new Shell memories, and siphon off additional Gloom from the Ova that you find on your adventure.

That finishes our guide on how to Fast Travel between Beacons in Mortal Shell 2. !(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/sester-genessa-closeup.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) There are 8 Shells for your Harbinger to inhabit in Mortal Shell(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/mortal-shell) 2, not counting Harros, the vassal who helps you during the game's Prologue. Each Shell possesses different abilities, from Tiel's skill at disappearing into the shadows to Smert's time-stopping powers. Since Mortal Shell as a franchise eschews traditional character classes, finding the right Shell to suit your playstyle is vital. But aside from Tiel and Proxima, most Shells are hidden in secret locations that you'll either stumble upon as you explore, or need to spend Glimpses to find in Zhirelle's chamber within the Marrow Keep. Our advice? Don't waste your Glimpses, which are a limited resource and only reveal the approximate location of each Shell. Instead, bookmark this guide, which details the exact locations of all Shells in Mortal Shell 2 and how to unlock them. Read more(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/mortal-shell-2-shell-locations)
