🟩 Xbox, Multi-platformMicrosoft delays Fable (again) to avoid GTA VI
Microsoft has delayed its upcoming Fable reboot once again. The game was set to launch in autumn 2026, but Microsoft now says that Fable will come out in February 2027. However, it will show a "new look" at the game at its Xbox Games Showcase on June 7th. "&8203;&8203;This is year is packed with incredible &8230;
🟩 Xbox, Multi-platformFable Has Been Delayed To February 2027
Fable(https://www.gamespot.com/games/fable/) has officially been delayed to February 2027, Xbox has confirmed. Originally scheduled to release in late 2026, the next game from Forza Horizon 6 developer Playground Games has instead been shifted to Q1 2027. Talking about the delay, Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty explained that while Xbox is confident with how Fable is shaping up, it wants to give the game a "window" to shine all on its own. "We're excited about where the game is. We want to make sure that the game has a window of its own, so we are going to move it from this fall to February," Booty said in the Xbox podcast(https://youtu.be/BwYglyND1EA). While he didn't outright mention it, Booty's comments do suggest that Microsoft wants to avoid competing with Grand Theft Auto 6(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-delayed-to-2026/1100-6531282/), which launches on November 19. Fable originally had a nebulous release date of Fall 2026, but signs of a possible delay cropped up earlier this year(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fable-reboot-could-be-delayed-to-2027-amid-concern-about-gta-6-report/1100-6539357/) when Playground stopped signing off messages to fans with a Fall 2026 release date(https://x.com/fable/withreplies) at the end. https://youtu.be/BwYglyND1EA "In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we’re moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves," Xbox added(https://x.com/XBOX/status/2060398425686888546) in a social media post. Fable steering clear of GTA 6--which Booty described as one of the "biggest entertainment moments" of the year--makes sense when you also factor in Xbox's tentpole game for the year, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-puts-you-in-the-boots-of-a-grunt/). Launching on October 22, Modern Warfare 4 should have enough breathing room to avoid direct competition with GTA 6, and the game is only coming to Xbox Game Pass(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/game-pass-gets-price-drop-new-call-of-duty-games-no-longer-included/1100-6539523/) a year after launch. Call of Duty games are usually one of the best sellers of the year, but last year's Black Ops 7 was the worst-performing Call of Duty game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/black-ops-7-had-call-of-dutys-worst-sales-year-ranking-in-the-us-since-2008/1100-6537567/) since 2008. Microsoft hasn't revealed concrete dates yet for Halo: Campaign Evolved(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/halo-campaign-evolved-release-date-trailer-news/1100-6535992/) and Gears of War: E-Day(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gears-of-war-e-day-release-date-trailer-story/1100-6526145/), but it's likely that more details on those games will be revealed at next month's Xbox June Showcase. Fable Delayed To February 2027
!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/01/22/7b14b151/fable01.jpg.webp) Xbox has delayed Fable(https://gameinformer.com/product/fable) to February 2027. It revealed this in a post(https://x.com/XBOX/status/2060398425686888546?s=20) on X, explaining that it is delaying Playground Games' upcoming reboot of the storied Xbox franchise to give it "the dedicated moment it deserves" amid a packed rest of the year. Playground just launched its latest racer, Forza Horizon 6(https://gameinformer.com/review/forza-horizon-6/remaining-on-the-podium), earlier this month, and it seems the team will get more time to work on Fable now. Xbox has plenty of other 2026 releases, though, to fill the Fable-sized void, including Minecraft Dungeons II(https://gameinformer.com/href), Halo: Campaign Evolved(https://gameinformer.com/href), Gears of War: E-Day(https://gameinformer.com/href), and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4(https://gameinformer.com/href), which just got revealed yesterday. That's not to mention the industry specter that is Grand Theft Auto VI(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/grand-theft-auto-vi), which is set to launch in November(https://www.gameinformer.com/2025/11/06/grand-theft-auto-vi-release-date-delayed-to-november-2026) as well. "In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we're moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves," the post reads. "We're excited to be giving players a major new look at Fable, as well as our broader lineup, at Xbox Games Showcase(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/03/30/xbox-schedules-summer-showcase-and-gears-of-war-e-day-direct-for-june-7) on June 7." As that post mentions, Xbox is expected to highlight upcoming releases like Fable, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and more alongside the usual surprise announcements that these Summer Game Fest-timed showcases feature. Game Informer's video crew will livestream their reactions to the showcase(https://www.youtube.com/live/IH9BBxVM0rU) when it airs on Sunday, June 7, at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. Be sure to bookmark Game Informer's 2026 Summer Showcase Schedule(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/05/19/the-2026-summer-showcase-schedule) to stay up to date on when each presentation airs. Fable will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime in February of next year. Do you think delaying Fable to 2027 is the right call? Let us know in the comments below!
007 First Light Has Already Sold Over A Million Copies
!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/05/26/64d28283/2bond.jpg.webp) 007 First Light launched only two days ago, on May 27, but the latest James Bond game is already performing well. Developer IO Interactive announced(https://bsky.app/profile/007game.ioi.dk/post/3mmwmbilcci2i) yesterday that the game has surpassed one million copies sold. To be more exact, it has sold 1.5 million copies as of May 28, roughly 24 hours after it launched. The impressive launch sales pair with a positive critical reception, including an 8.75 out of 10 from us at Game Informer(https://gameinformer.com/review/007-first-light/cinematic-flair). 007 First Light is an original Bond story detailing the origins of the agent who becomes 007. 🎮 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Multi-platformCall of Duty's free-to-play version is shutting down on PS4, Xbox One
Call of Duty: Warzone will no longer be playable on PS4 and Xbox One with the launch of Modern Warfare 4 in October, Activision confirms.
🟩 Xbox, Multi-platformCall Of Duty: MW4 Features A “Different Version” Of Captain Price
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/infinity-ward-makes-key-improvements-to-the-formula-with-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4/) brings back the popular and fan-favorite character Captain Price, played by Barry Sloane, but for the events of MW4, he's a changed man. Spoilers for the Modern Warfare series follow below. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/PriceMW46b109e.jpg?w=1024) At the end of the campaign for 2023's Modern Warfare 3, Price kills General Shepherd, and that's something that Price "can't really come back from," according to MW4 narrative director Jeff Negus. He said in an Xbox Wire(https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/05/28/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-first-details-campaign/) interview that Price in MW4 will be "a different version" of the character based on his choice to murder Shepherd in MW3. "We get to forge a new path for him, and see what happens when he’s now in different conflicts --how does this version of Price resolve that conflict?" Negus said. MW4's campaign follows multiple storylines, one being a group of young South Korean soldiers and the other following "a vengeful Captain Price" who is waging a "personal war from the shadows as he stays one step ahead of those hunting him." Eventually, the two stories will connect. "As Price's off-book mission collides with the forces behind the invasion, the war spreads beyond anyone's control," reads a line from MW4's story description. The MW4 story description goes on to describe Price as an "operator-turned-outlaw" who is now working "outside the system he once served." "A hunt for revenge draws Price toward a weapon powerful enough to shift the balance of power, setting in motion a conflict far greater than he ever anticipated," the game's description continues. "Forced into uneasy alliances and illicit operations, Price is pulled deeper into consequences he can no longer escape." MW4 launches on October 23 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It's also coming to Nintendo Switch 2 at launch, with Activision's Digital Legends studio building the game's native edition for Switch 2.

🟩 Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Multi-platformModern Warfare 4 On Switch 2 Has Been “So Smooth” For Infinity Ward
Infinity Ward is bringing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/infinity-ward-makes-key-improvements-to-the-formula-with-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4/) to Nintendo Switch 2, and that's a big deal since the CoD franchise hasn't been on a Nintendo platform since 2013. Infinity Ward co-studio head Jack O'Hara discussed the process of bringing MW4 to Switch 2 with a native version, saying it's been "so smooth." This came after former Xbox boss Phil Spencer said there was "definitely"(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/getting-call-of-duty-on-switch-would-definitely-require-some-work-phil-spencer-says/1100-6509798/) work that needed to be done to get Call of Duty running on Switch. "The game got up and running on the platform really quickly once we got the hardware. So far it's been really good. To be honest, it's been really fun to be on a new platform," O'Hara told GamesRadar(https://www.gamesradar.com/games/call-of-duty/right-now-we-support-crossplay-between-switch-2-and-the-rest-of-the-platforms-modern-warfare-4-ends-the-13-year-wait-for-call-of-duty-to-return-to-nintendo-hardware/) about bringing MW4 to Switch 2. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/CODMW4.jpg?w=1024) Also in the interview, O'Hara confirmed that cross-play between Switch 2 and the other console platforms and PC is currently supported, but, "We'll see at launch exactly where the mix ends up." The Switch 2 is a relatively less powerful console than the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but it remains to be seen what concessions the Nintendo console version will have. Microsoft, which owns Activision and the Call of Duty franchise, first confirmed plans to bring Call of Duty to Switch in 2023 as a means to appease regulators and get its blockbuster deal for Activision across the line. At the time, Microsoft pledged(https://x.com/BradSmi/status/1629180356359495680) that Call of Duty releases on Switch would arrive "the same day as Xbox, with full features and content parity." The last time a Call of Duty game came to a Nintendo platform was in 2013 with the Wii U edition of Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Ghosts. MW4 is launching on October 23 for Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It is not coming to PS4 and Xbox One. Preorders are open now, but not on Switch 2(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/preorder-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-vault-edition-and-save-10/). Activision has also confirmed a "Loyalty" discount for MW4(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-has-a-loyalty-discount-for-the-vault-edition-heres-how-to-get-it/) that allows people to get 10% off the game's Vault edition.

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/007-intel-header.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) Although Bond definitely spends a lot more time schmoozing and exploding things than the traditional information-gathering spy, 007 First Light(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/007-first-light) shows that he does indeed love a good bit of gossip. As you explore the game, you'll come across collectible data logs known as “Intel” that reveal the backstories of his closest allies and fiercest enemies. Bond clearly enjoys reading into these logs so much that he's looking to form a collection. 🟩 Xbox, Multi-platformXbox Game Pass Price Cut Is Working, CEO Says
One of the first decisions that Xbox CEO Asha Sharma made after becoming the new boss earlier this year was to cut the price of Xbox Game Pass significantly. In a memo to staff recently, Sharma explained the thinking behind the price cut and talked about the impact it's making so far, saying it's helping move Xbox in the right direction. “Growth slowed down and subscriber loss accelerated after the pricing and SKU changes last year,” Sharma said in the memo obtained by The Verge(https://www.theverge.com/tech/938807/microsoft-surface-future-devices-notepad). “Since our price reduction we have seen acquisitions grow and retention improve, which is a good first step.” Also in the memo, Sharma said Game Pass still has a challenging road ahead. “We will not solve this in one moment or one launch,” Sharma said. “We will have to outwork the problem in front of us in our path to restore durable growth.” The next evolution of Game Pass launched today, with Discord Nitro members now getting access to a starter version of Game Pass for no extra charge(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/game-pass-starter-edition-announced-heres-what-its-all-about/1100-6539875/). Looking further out, a top boss at Netflix has said Sharma is considering bundling more services into Game Pass to draw people in(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/new-xbox-ceo-could-make-game-pass-less-expensive-report-says/1100-6538978/). Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters said he and Sharma have “kicked around ideas” for how Netflix and Xbox could work together on subscription bundles. Nothing has been confirmed, but Peters said he “wouldn’t eliminate any possibilities.” “You would have to do it in a way that works for the consumer and works for both companies, and frankly, I think Microsoft’s still trying to figure out how to make the Game Pass bundle work for Microsoft,” Peters said. “But what I like about Asha’s thinking is, it’s all about, ‘How do we do more?’ And it’s already been exciting to watch.” The executive also discussed her decision to rebrand Xbox as XBOX(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-is-rebranding-itself-sort-of/1100-6540005/). "We are building a stronger XBOX. That means making hard choices about what we build, where we invest, and what kind of company we need to be going forward,” she said. “That is part of what you are starting to see in the shift from Xbox to XBOX. It reflects a decision to be deliberate in how we show up for the players who care most about this brand.” Beyond the Game Pass price cut and the decision to change the styling of Xbox to XBOX, Sharma was personally responsible for killing off the controversial "This is an Xbox" marketing slogan(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/killing-this-is-an-xbox-campaign-was-new-ceos-decision-report/1100-6538987/). It's a big year for Xbox, as 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the brand. Microsoft's next big Xbox event is the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/every-video-game-showcase-to-watch-in-2026/2900-7446/), so be sure to keep checking back with GameSpot for more.
