Call Of Duty Is Finally Returning To One Hugely Popular Platform

Activision has skipped Nintendo platforms for Call of Duty for more than a decade, as the last CoD release on a Nintendo platform was a port of Call of Duty: Ghosts for Wii U in 2013. That is changing this year, though, as Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will come to Switch 2 at launch on October 23(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-release-date-is-close-to-gta-6-wont-be-on-game-pass/). It'll debut that day alongside the game's other versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game is not coming to last-gen consoles. The new Call of Duty game showing up on Switch 2 is not a surprise, but instead the realization of a promise that Microsoft made years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLbst85USN8 In 2023, amid the FTC vs. Microsoft court case, Microsoft said it had signed(https://x.com/BradSmi/status/1629180356359495680) a “binding 10-year legal agreement to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo players.” The statement said Microsoft would launch Call of Duty on Nintendo platforms “the same day as Xbox, with full features and content parity.” 2024's Black Ops 6 and 2025's Black Ops 7 did not come to Switch 2, prompting many to wonder if Microsoft and Activision were actually going to follow through on the promise. In June 2025, Activision released a statement saying it was committed to bringing Call of Duty to Switch 2(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-is-still-coming-to-switch-apparently/1100-6532276/). A report from December 2025 said Call of Duty's release on Switch 2 was imminent(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-is-finally-coming-to-switch-soon-report/1100-6537145/). The Switch 2 version of Modern Warfare 4 is developed by Infinity Ward in partnership with Digital Legends. It is a native version for Switch 2. It remains to be seen if the Switch 2 edition of Modern Warfare 4 has any differences compared to the game's other editions. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Screenshot-2026-05-28-at-10.17.58-AM.png) While Modern Warfare 4 is coming to Switch 2, Activision has not said if the popular Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale game is coming to Switch 2. Keep checking back with GameSpot for more. Modern Warfare 4's story is centered on the Korean Peninsula, with players taking on the role of Private Park, a young Korean grunt soldier(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-puts-you-in-the-boots-of-a-grunt/) who is entering combat for the first time. The campaign is described as a "zero-to-hero" story. A familiar Modern Warfare character, Captain Price, returns in the campaign, which will take players beyond Korea to places like New York, Paris, and Mumbai. Beyond the campaign, Modern Warfare 4 brings back multiplayer(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/infinity-ward-makes-key-improvements-to-the-formula-with-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4/), of course, with 12 brand-new 6v6 maps coming at launch. The DMZ mode returns as well. Call of Duty has a long, strange history on Nintendo platforms(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-has-a-long-strange-history-on-nintendo-consoles/1100-6509800/).

Marathon Is Going Free-To-Play, But Not For Long

With a new season starting soon, Bungie is offering Marathon(https://www.gamespot.com/games/marathon/) at its best price yet next week: free. For the low price of nothing, anyone interested in checking out the extraction shooter on PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S can grab a free trial for the game starting June 2 and running through June 9, with progress carrying over if they decide to drop $40 on it. PS5 players won't need a PS Plus subscription to go online, either. With Marathon sales reportedly not being as great as Bungie hoped for and player numbers being modest at best, this might be the best chance for the developer to introduce people to the game. The June 2 date also coincides with the start of Marathon's second season, which will add the new Night Marsh zone, a new Sentinel Runner shell, and more deadly hardware. The important thing to note is that a new season also means that player inventories are wiped, leveling the playing field(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/marathons-first-wipe-is-just-a-few-weeks-away-heres-what-carries-over/1100-6539926/). This means that you won't have to worry about running into fellow Runners equipped with top-tier loot at the start of the season. Other updates coming in the season include the Cradle, a new system that will let you level up your Runner shell stats without needing to worry too much about faction progression, increased faction progression speed, a larger Vault, and several quality-of-life changes. If you're curious, Marathon is worth trying out as Bungie has put its own fresh spin on the extraction shooter genre. https://youtu.be/a1i801SDrJA "Bungie's slick extraction shooter is great at creating tense battles, incredible highs, and painful lows, with a future that's full of promise," Phil Hornshaw wrote in GameSpot's Marathon review(https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/marathon-review-in-progress-incredible-highs-painful-lows/1900-6418472/). Marathon appears to be Bungie's main priority for now, as the studio recently announced that Destiny 2 will receive one final content update(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/destiny-2-is-getting-last-content-update-soon-as-bungie-moves-onto-its-next-big-game/1100-6540084/) in June. While the server lights will remain on for the foreseeable future, this update will serve as an epilogue of sorts to the live-service game, just when its story was starting to get good(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/destiny-2-is-ending-just-as-its-story-started-to-get-good/). 'Significant" layoffs are also expected to follow(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/report-claims-significant-layoffs-are-incoming-for-bungie-as-destiny-2-ends/) now that Destiny 2 is being sunset, but Bungie has confirmed that it is also developing several ideas for future games. 7 Marathon Beginner Tips To Help You Survive On Tau Ceti !4661193-hat7ja9rjtkdpwvu8vbtid.jpg(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661193-hat7ja9rjtkdpwvu8vbtid.jpg?w=1024) !4661195-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-18.04.15.97.png(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661195-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-18.04.15.97.png?w=1024) !4661196-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-14.02.56.02.png(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661196-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-14.02.56.02.png?w=1024) !4661200-marathon.exescreenshot2026.03.02-10.52.41.35.png(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661200-marathon.exescreenshot2026.03.02-10.52.41.35.png?w=1024) !4661198-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-18.03.56.84.png(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661198-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-18.03.56.84.png?w=1024) !4661199-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-14.03.08.45.png(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661199-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-14.03.08.45.png?w=1024) !4661201-2026marathonserverslampressk.jpg(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661201-2026marathonserverslampressk.jpg?w=1024) View Images(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/7-marathon-beginner-tips-to-help-you-survive-on-tau-ceti/2900-7557/)

The Witcher 3 Is Dropping Windows 10 Support For Its New DLC, And Fans Aren’t Happy🎮 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Multi-platform

The Witcher 3 Is Dropping Windows 10 Support For Its New DLC, And Fans Aren’t Happy

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting a third story expansion in 2027, more than 12 years after the game's original release. 2015 was a long, long time ago, and gaming hardware has drastically changed since-- so much so that CD Projekt Red is updating the recommended specifications for The Witcher 3, dropping Windows 10 support in the process. The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past will be skipping PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, which makes the slight change to the minimum requirements for PC(https://support.cdprojektred.com/en/witcher-3/pc/sp-technical/issue/2973/upcoming-changes-to-minimum-requirements-for-the-witcher-3-wild-hunt) understandable. The game will still be able to run on GPUs with less than 6GB of VRAM and 12GB of RAM. The requirement for an SSD over older hard drives might be tough if you haven't upgraded yet, especially with current prices, but is likely one you would've made a while ago. What is slightly alarming is the shift towards making Windows 11 a requirement, which hasn't gone down well with the PC community. "Mandatory Windows 11? Really? Either CDPR got a fat check from MicroSlop, or they don't give a sht about players at all," reads one thread on the Witcher 3 subreddit(https://www.reddit.com/r/Witcher3/comments/1tp5i1b/soaboutnewpcrequirements/) just a few hours after the expansion announcement. Many PC gamers are still on Windows 10 for various reasons, be it improved performance over the bloated Windows 11 or the inability to upgrade given the hardware requirements for the new operating system. Although The Witcher 3 now specifies Windows 11 in its minimum requirements, this does not mean that the game won't run at all on earlier versions of the OS. Instead, as CD Projekt Red clarified later, it means that the studio won't support or test the game on Windows 10 going forward. This isn't a decision CD Projekt Red is making in a vacuum. Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 10 in late 2025, with the company ceasing security updates as it prioritises Windows 11 upgrades. Nvidia is also expected to stop releasing GPU drivers for Windows 10(https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/aid/5695/~/geforce-support-plan-for-windows-10) later this year, and before the launch of Songs of the Past, which will likely have a discernible effect on the game's performance on your system. "In short, this change does not mean that the game will not run on Windows 10," a post on The Witcher 3 forums(https://forums.cdprojektred.com/index.php?threads/a-note-on-windows-10-support-from-the-player-experience-director.11142322/) concludes. "It means we cannot ensure that it will. Our goal is not to take something away from you. Our goal is to give you what is best the best way we can." CD Projekt Red says that players will be able to revert to the current version of The Witcher 3 at any point, if newer updates make the game unplayable on Windows 10. The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past is expected to launch in 2027, with more details coming later in the summer. The Witcher 3: Songs Of The Past Is A New Expansion Starring Geralt And It Launches Next Year

!The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Songs of the Past DLC Expansion CD Projekt Red Geralt of Rivia(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/05/27/d7bbdc44/Witcher%20DLC%20.jpg.webp) The Witcher IV(https://gameinformer.com/product/the-witcher-iv) and Cyberpunk 2077(https://gameinformer.com/review/cyberpunk-2077/cyberpunk-2077-review-a-wild-time-in-night-city) developer CD Projekt Red has announced a new DLC expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt(https://gameinformer.com/product/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt). Yes, you read that right – it's for the game that launched in 2015. It's called Songs of the Past, stars Geralt of Rivia, and launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2027. There's no word on what to expect in this expansion, as the only thing CDPR has revealed is the title and the key art (see header image), but given the name, it might see Geralt battling something from his past. CDPR is developing the expansion with Fools Theory(https://gameinformer.com/2022/10/04/cd-projekt-red-announces-new-cyberpunk-game-multiple-witcher-games-and-new-ip), the studio that is developing a remake of the first Witcher game(https://gameinformer.com/2022/10/26/cd-projekt-red-reveals-codename-canis-majoris-is-a-remake-of-the-first-witcher-game). The teams will reveal more information about Songs of the Past in "late Summer 2026." Songs of the Past will be a nice return/finale for Geralt, considering the next mainline Witcher game, The Witcher IV, will see you play as Ciri, the Witcher-in-training who tagged along with Geralt in The Witcher 3(https://gameinformer.com/games/thewitcher3wildhunt/b/playstation4/archive/2015/05/12/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-review-game-informer.aspx). You can get a new look at Ciri (and her horse companion Kelpie) in the latest Unreal Engine technical showcase here(https://gameinformer.com/2025/06/03/get-a-new-look-at-the-witcher-iv-in-unreal-engine-technical-showcase). With a new expansion coming in 2027, it's likely that even more new players will check out The Witcher 3, which has already surpassed 60 million copies sold since its 2015 launch. While waiting to learn more about Songs of the Past, head to Game Informer's coverage hub for The Blood of Dawnwalker(https://gameinformer.com/dawnwalker), which is a game being developed by a team of CDPR veterans and the latest game to grace our cover(https://gameinformer.com/cover-reveal/2026/05/12/cover-reveal-the-blood-of-dawnwalker). The Witcher 3 Is Getting New DLC Nearly 12 Years After Launch

The Witcher 3(https://www.gamespot.com/games/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt/) developer CD Projekt Red has announced the new Songs of the Past expansion for the game, which comes 11 years after its second expansion, Blood and Wine. Co-developed with Fool's Theory--a studio that includes several Witcher 3 veterans and previously released The Thaumaturge in 2024--Songs of the Past will be revealed in more detail later this year. What CDPR has revealed is that the expansion will launch in 2027 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S versions of The Witcher 3, and it will once again revolve around Geralt of Rivia. Rumors about a new Witcher 3 DLC(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/why-some-believe-a-witcher-3-expansion-is-coming-soon/1100-6537282/) began picking up earlier this year, with initial reports(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/why-some-believe-a-witcher-3-expansion-is-coming-soon/1100-6537282/) speculating that the DLC could see players visit the far-eastern destination of Zerrikania. New reports claimed(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/rumored-witcher-3-dlc-likely-to-stay-close-to-velen-bridging-the-gap-between-witcher-3-and-4/1100-6538406/) that the DLC will instead reuse existing assets and will be set in the territories of Temeria and Redania. CDPR has also confirmed that system requirements for The Witcher 3 on PC will be updated to "ensure smooth performance and compatibility" going forward. This means that any Witcher 3 player running the game on a Windows 10 operating system will need to upgrade to Windows 11 if they want to keep playing it. If you're curious, you can check out the updated PC specs below for The Witcher 3: - CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-8400 - GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB - VRAM: 6GB - RAM: 12GB - Storage: 70GB SSD - Operating System: 64-bit Windows 11 Curiously, CDPR also teased(https://x.com/thewitcher/status/2059560464082743560) something else for this week. "We originally planned to make this big reveal during our REDstreams tomorrow, but let’s say we found something we didn't yet expect on RED Launcher," the studio said in a social media post that included wolf and swords emojis, symbols related to The Witcher franchise. It's a busy time for The Witcher franchise currently, as not only is there new content on the way for The Witcher 3, but the first game is getting a remake(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-witcher-remake-will-be-fully-open-world-unlike-the-original/1100-6509525/) and The Witcher 4 is also in development(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/witcher-4-and-new-ip-at-cd-projekt-get-fresh-updates-heres-the-latest/1100-6538907/). Outside of that franchise, CDPR is also working on a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/cyberpunk-2077-sequel-release-date-trailer-story/1100-6526333/), and a new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series is also in the works. An Unexpected Lego Game Could Be Coming Very Soon

The summer wave of video game announcements is nearly upon us, with a PlayStation State of Play(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-state-of-play-confirmed-for-june-2/1100-6540054/), Summer Game Fest Live(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/summer-game-fest-2026-announced-for-june-2026/1100-6535415/), and an Xbox Showcase(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-games-showcase-set-for-june-7-gears-of-war-e-day-deep-dive-to-follow/1100-6539086/) already scheduled within a six-day span(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/every-video-game-showcase-to-watch-in-2026/2900-7446/) of one another. A few hints as to what may show up during reveal season are starting to surface, including one that will have Lego fans raising an eyebrow: Paradox Interactive's Lego Skylines. Via Gematsu(https://www.gematsu.com/2026/05/lego-skylines-by-paradox-interactive-persona-4-revival-and-more-rated-in-korea), the name Lego Skylines has appeared among other known upcoming projects on a recent ratings report by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea, the country's ESRB equivalent. Paradox Interactive, the developer of the Cities Skylines franchise of city-builder games, is listed as the developer, but no other information is provided. This is the first time a Lego Skylines game has been mentioned publicly, as there has been no formal announcement from either Paradox or Lego as of this writing. The Swedish firm's last project in the franchise was Cities Skyline II, though the studio has also released both Europa Universalis V and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 since then. A licensed Lego game has already launched a game in 2026, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which released earlier this month. Lego Batman follows Lego Party, a blocky take on Mario Party, and Lego Voyagers, a cozy co-op platformer, which both launched in the second half of 2025.
