🎮 Multi-platformMarvel Rivals Season 8 Says "To Me, My X-Men" With Cyclops Reveal
Marvel Rivals(https://www.gamespot.com/games/marvel-rivals/) developer NetEase Games has revealed a new look at Season 8: Sins of Alchemax for the free-to-play game, showing off iconic X-Men leader Cyclops in action, as well as a tease for the fan-favorite characters Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Kicking off on May 15, Season 8 revolves around the sinister Alchemax corporation, which was responsible for the recent Time Plague in Lower Manhattan. The devastating outbreak was contained, but with Alchemax responsible for it and still standing defiant, players will have to team up to take down the company before it's too late. The big surprise in the trailer is that Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur appear in a prominent role. One of the smartest characters in the Marvel Universe, Moon Girl AKA Lunella Lafayette shares a mental link with Devil Dinosaur, who is usually depicted as a crimson-skinned dinosaur that resembles a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Devil Dinosaur will join the game this season, serving a Vanguard role built around raw, savage power. The hero can tear the opposition to shreds, is equipped with a shield, and attacks with primal bites to inflict a continuous bleeding effect on targets. Whenever he smashes through defenses, Devil Dinosaur's aggression will increase, and he can clamp down on enemies to instantly take them out. For his Ultimate Ability, Devil Dinosaur becomes unstoppable and can charge forward to mercilessly trample anyone caught in his path of destruction. 🎮 Multi-platformCoD Veteran's New Shooter Is "Not A Call Of Duty Killer," Inspired By David Lynch
One of the best-known Call of Duty developers, David Vonderhaar, is making a new game that is "not a Call of Duty killer" but is instead something that sounds quite different. It will be a shooter, but Vonderhaar told Bloomberg(https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-05-12/netease-veteran-raises-100-million-for-star-wars-led-comeback?accessToken=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.eyJzb3VyY2UiOiJTdWJzY3JpYmVyR2lmdGVkQXJ0aWNsZSIsImlhdCI6MTc3ODU5MTI3OSwiZXhwIjoxNzc5MTk2MDc5LCJhcnRpY2xlSWQiOiJURVhERzdLR1pBS1AwMCIsImJjb25uZWN0SWQiOiJGRUIzODlCNUI2ODI0RTY0QjY5MENEODE1RTBDREZGRCJ9.yttTv8Wuiib6Odl0AfgCVTMNjUjTm2tkEQlTRxYDS4Q&leadSource=uverify%20wall) it's "definitely not" another military simulation-type game. Instead, people can think of it as "if David Lynch made shooters." Players will work together to fight environmental challenges and also each other, the report said, suggesting it will be some type of PvPvE game. Now, the director of that game is back with his new studio, Rebel Wolves, to deliver another ambitious, narrative-driven role-playing game with The Blood of Dawnwalker. That very game graces the cover of the latest issue of Game Informer, and it's available to read digitally right now! To get the most comprehensive look at The Blood of Dawnwalker yet, we flew out to Rebel Wolves' studio in Warsaw, Poland, where we spent a full day with a wide range of developers, learning all about how the young studio is aiming to deliver a genre-defining RPG. On top of hours of conversations with the developers, we also sat through two distinct hands-off gameplay demos, one of which nobody else outside of the studio has seen. In our huge 16-page cover story, you'll learn all about how this team took the lessons learned developing some of the greatest games of all time and applied them to this new, extremely exciting vampire story. We also get into topics like the game's overarching structure (hint, it's very player-choice driven), the map, the engaging combat, the fun time mechanic, just how far you can influence the narrative, and how relationships can play out. Not only that, but we have a special poster for The Blood of Dawnwalker bundled with print subscriber copies! The poster features the key art, with protagonist Coen front and center. While that is a special perk for our print subscribers, regardless of what kind of subscription you have, you can read the full magazine in its digital form right this very moment! But this issue is so much more than just our deep dive into The Blood of Dawnwalker. Within the pages of issue 378 of Game Informer, you'll find features with in-depth looks at Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, Grave Seasons, End of Abyss, and Gothic 1 Remake. Plus, we spoke with the developers behind Stardew Valley, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse to get some post-release retrospection from them. Meanwhle, Hayes Madsen talked with the teams behind series like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Persona, and Sea of Stars to dissect the revival of the turn-based RPG genre. That's on top of our previews section, which includes new looks at Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, Metro 2039, Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold, Neverway, and more! Subscribers can read the digital edition right now(https://gameinformer.com/Dawnwalker)! Physical versions will begin arriving in the mail in mid-to-late June, and you can expect to find the magazine in bookstores and newsstands(https://gameinformer.com/newsstand) around the same timeframe. Casey Hudson, the gaming industry veteran who is leading the team making Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-wars-fate-of-the-old-republic-release-date-trailer-story/1100-6536959/), has commented on AI, saying he finds it to be "creatively soulless." He said this in an interview with Bloomberg,(https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-05-12/netease-veteran-raises-100-million-for-star-wars-led-comeback?accessToken=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.eyJzb3VyY2UiOiJTdWJzY3JpYmVyR2lmdGVkQXJ0aWNsZSIsImlhdCI6MTc3ODU5MTI3OSwiZXhwIjoxNzc5MTk2MDc5LCJhcnRpY2xlSWQiOiJURVhERzdLR1pBS1AwMCIsImJjb25uZWN0SWQiOiJGRUIzODlCNUI2ODI0RTY0QjY5MENEODE1RTBDREZGRCJ9.yttTv8Wuiib6Odl0AfgCVTMNjUjTm2tkEQlTRxYDS4Q&leadSource=uverify%20wall) adding, "It's hard to imagine where it's actually helpful in the process. I'm just really unimpressed with it." Presumably Hudson is referring to generative AI, which has been the hot-button topic as of late, but whatever the case, he is clearly not enthusiastic about the technology for Fate of the Old Republic. 🎮 Multi-platformSega Cancels Super Game, But New Crazy Taxi And Jet Set Radio Are Still Coming
The ambiguous Super Game project from Sega--which planned to incorporate NFTs, social networking, and cloud streaming(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/segas-super-game-project-involves-multiple-games-may-include-nfts/1100-6502351/)--has been canned. The company behind Sonic the Hedgehog bluntly stated that it "decided to cancel" the game in its fiscal 2026 results presentation(https://www.segasammy.co.jp/cms/wp-content/uploads/pdf/en/ir/20260512q4presentationen.pdf). This comes almost five years exactly after the original announcement of the Super Game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/sega-announces-plan-to-make-a-super-game/1100-6491431/) in 2021. A handful of classic franchise reboots are still in the works, however. Sega is still listing Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, and Streets of Rage as upcoming games, though without a specific release date. These four projects were first unveiled at The Game Awards in 2023(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/sega-announces-new-jet-set-radio-crazy-taxi-and-more-long-awaited-sequels/1100-6519798/). A new Shinobi was also part of that reveal, and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance(https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/shinobi-art-of-vengeance-review-ninja-master/1900-6418397/) arrived last year. > Leave it to @sega(https://twitter.com/SEGA?refsrc=twsrc%5Etfw) to blow our minds with 5 NEW GAMES in one trailer! The setting is supposedly based on California. The series began in 1999 with Crazy Taxi for arcades, with a Dreamcast release in 2000.
