Netflix’s Devil May Cry Season 2 Redeems The Worst Game In The Series

The first season of the anime adaptation of Devil May Cry on Netflix was a refreshing remix of the Capcom intellectual property, and its second season wastes no time in using the momentum from its cliffhanger ending to leap straight into action. As subtle as a sledgehammer to the face, Devil May Cry Season 2 is a sharper and bolder follow-up, expanding its ensemble cast and amplifying the action in this video game adaptation. Kicking off in the midst of the US's new war on demonic terror, spearheaded by a literal cowboy president--and orchestrated by sinister forces in the background--Season 2 is firmly in its numetal phase of action and storytelling. With Dante still on ice and Lady grappling with her guilt over her role in the slaughter of innocent demons, it's the introduction of Vergil that steals the show. Dante's twin brother brings his signature stoic attitude to the screen as he finds himself on a destined collision course with his sibling. Johnny Yong Bosch and Robbie Daymond have a commanding presence whenever they appear as Dante and Vergil, respectively. But when they share the stage? It's a jackpot moment as we see more of Vergil’s past, his motivations, and the forces manipulating him. The result is a story that's all gas and no brakes for its first half, before it finally slows down and takes a moment to breathe ahead of gearing up for the finale. Season 2 doesn't contain any narrative surprises, but because it doesn't need to do any setup work like the first season did, it has room to tell a tightly crafted story full of high-octane action and surprisingly tender moments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jpie-fec5qY The second episode even tries to shake up the usual way animated stories are told, shifting between documentary-style interviews, different animation styles, and alternate viewpoints on all the chaos erupting around them. It doesn’t quite reach the heights of Season 1’s amazing sixth episode–an almost wordless showcase of stunning art direction and storytelling–but it’s clear the creators are trying new things, which is a theme throughout Season 2. If there's one universal consensus amongst Devil May Cry fans, it's that the first sequel is a dreadful departure from everything that made the first game so special. A rushed development cycle, boring gameplay, and a version of Dante who had the charisma of a boiled egg as its star, it's the black sheep of the series. In contrast, Season 2 salvages several interesting elements from the game, reusing and reimagining characters to give them a second chance in the spotlight. Arius is transformed from a one-note megalomaniac and into a fleshed-out villain with grand designs of godhood, while the looming threat of Argosax the Chaos raises the stakes further. Redemption for Devil May Cry 2 is the biggest surprise this season, and over the course of eight episodes, this adaptation brings out the best of an infamous game. The other big surprise is Season 2's primary villain, Arius. Allied alongside the zealous Vice President Baines (with Ian James Corlett taking over from the late Kevin Conroy), Arius shines as the architect of chaos who's hellbent on resurrecting an ancient evil. Voiced by veteran actor Graham McTavish (Outlander), Arius serves as the perfect foil to the Sons of Sparda as he outmaneuvers them with cunning and raw power gained from both his Uroboros Corporation and mystical Arcana. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E400102707-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2A-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2B-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E100103902-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E100245714-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E200051618-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E200244701-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E300072112-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E300083401-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E300141112-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E300155421-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E400015514-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E400040117-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/DevilMayCrynS2E400200815-Large-Large.jpeg?w=1024) Considering how the antagonist has essentially been forgotten after only appearing in the maligned Devil May Cry 2 game, this new spin on Arius proves that showrunner Adi Shankar and the rest of the series' crew have a firm grip on the franchise and know exactly how to bring out the best of it. That's a running theme throughout Season 2, as the show embraces all things Devil May Cry. From strawberry sundae Easter eggs to quick cameos, the series is a celebration of the franchise. Studio Mir is at its best this season, combining its unique art style with stunning fight scenes that really capture the spirit of the games. Every action scene looks great and is set to 2000s rock and numetal tracks, making the battles even more intense than last season. The only downside is the occasional use of awkward CG animation, but it’s not as common as in the first season. Most of the time, CG is just used for backgrounds or quick shots, though a few scenes with 3D models still stand out against the beautiful 2D animation. Devil May Cry Season 2 doubles down on everything that made the first season so memorable, trading setup for momentum. Standout additions this season include the arrival of Vergil and a reimagined Arius, and while the narrative rarely surprises, it has strong performances and slick animation that captures the over-the-top spectacle of the source material and ultimately surpasses its predecessor.

Moss: The Forgotten Relic Combines Two Of VR's Best Games Into One Unified Flatscreen Adventure This Summer🎮 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, VR, Multi-platform

Moss: The Forgotten Relic Combines Two Of VR's Best Games Into One Unified Flatscreen Adventure This Summer

!Moss The Forgotten Relic PS5 Xbox Series X/S Switch 2 PC Summer 2026 Reveal Trailer(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/05/14/862646ff/moss2.jpg.webp) Some of the best games you can play in a VR headset are developer/publisher Polyarc's Moss(https://gameinformer.com/product/moss) and Moss: Book II(https://gameinformer.com/product/moss-book-ii). The former launched in 2018 exclusively on PlayStation VR, and the latter launched on PlayStation VR and Meta Quest in 2022. Though both are playable on other VR headsets now, they still require, well, a VR headset. But players without a headset, or those who prefer their gaming escapades to be flatscreen, will get to enjoy both adventures in Moss: The Forgotten Relic, which combines both Moss games into a single "unified" experience for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC this Summer. Polyarc announced The Forgotten Relic with an exclusive trailer over at IGN, and it highlights that Moss' platformer-puzzle gameplay works just fine on a non-VR display. In it, players will traverse a fallen kingdom, solve environmental puzzles uniquely woven into the surrounding environment, and embark on a heartfelt tale as Quill, a very cute and very miniature mouse. Check it out in the Moss: The Forgotten Relic reveal trailer for yourself below: "Moss: The Forgotten Relic is an emotional and atmospheric adventure set in the pages of a living storybook, brimming with myth and ancient magic," the game's Steam description reads. "Guide a tiny but determined hero on a heartfelt journey of challenge, courage, and connection." Moss: The Forgotten Relic hits PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, Switch, and PC sometime this Summer. In the meantime, read Game Informer's review of Moss(https://gameinformer.com/games/moss/b/playstationvr/archive/2018/02/27/game-informer-moss-psvr-review.aspx). You Don’t Need An Expensive PC Or Console To Play Subnautica 2🟩 Xbox, Multi-platform

You Don’t Need An Expensive PC Or Console To Play Subnautica 2

After years of development and behind-the-scenes controversy, Subnautica 2 from developer Unknown Worlds is out now in early access. If you're curious about the game but don't have an Xbox or a PC powerful enough, there is another way to play it--by streaming it to a device you already own via Nvidia GeForce now or Microsoft's cloud gaming service. For GeForce Now, you still have to buy the game and then subscribe to the service to play it. There is a free tier of the service, but it limits you to one-hour sessions, has ads, caps you at 1080p/60fps, and streams from a "basic" rig. Alternatively, you can pay $10/month for no ads and streaming from a GeForce RTX rig with six-hour sessions and up to 1440p/60fps. There is also an Ultimate tier of GeForce Now ($20/month) that has no ads, eight-hour sessions, and up to 5K/360fps. Go to the GeForce Now website(https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce-now/) to learn more. Alternatively, Subnautica 2 is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate ($23/month(https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/subnautica-2-game-preview/9N4CGTV96750/0010)) and that includes cloud streaming support, allowing you to beam the game to your computer, phone, tablet, or an older Xbox. There are no time limits for Game Pass Ultimate members, and the streaming quality goes up to 1440p/60fps. Like the PC edition, Subnautica 2 on Xbox represents an in-development version of the game in Microsoft's Game Preview program. Subnautica 2 is not available on PlayStation 5, nor has the game been announced for Sony's platform. It may eventually come to PS5, as the 2018 game landed on PS4 and later PS5, while 2021's Subnautica: Below Zero came to those platforms as well. There is no version of Subnautica 2 for Switch or Switch 2. Subnautica 2 is having a banger of a start on Steam, as the game is currently Steam's No. 1 best-selling game(https://store.steampowered.com/charts/) and its No. 3 overall most-played game currently(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/subnautica-2-overcomes-pre-release-controversy-to-become-massive-hit-on-steam/1100-6539956/), with more than 440,000 concurrent users. The game is also available on the Epic Games Store, along with Xbox, so it's no doubt reaching many more people. It's still early, but Subnautica already has a "Very Positive" aggregate rating on Steam from more than 1,800 user reviews. There is no word yet on when the game's 1.0 release may come, however. Regarding the controversy surrounding the game, Unknown Worlds and owner Krafton were embroiled in a legal battle regarding, among other things, a huge bonus payment for senior executives at Unknown Worlds. As part of this, Unknown Worlds CEO Ted Gill was ousted, but a court ruling later forced Krafton(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/subnautica-2-publisher-forced-to-reinstate-fired-ceo-judge-blames-kraftons-chatgpt-legal-advice/1100-6538819/) to reinstate Gill and allow Unknown Worlds to go ahead with releasing the game on its schedule. If you're just getting started with Subnautica 2, be sure to consult some of GameSpot's Subnautica 2 guides(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/subnautica-2-guides-hub/1100-6539935/).

The AI-Powered Tech Behind PSSR 2 Is Coming To Older AMD GPUs, Including The Steam Machine🖥 PC, Multi-platform

The AI-Powered Tech Behind PSSR 2 Is Coming To Older AMD GPUs, Including The Steam Machine

After nearly a year of speculation, AMD has announced that it is bringing its latest generation of AI-powered upscaling technology, FSR 4.1, to its older generations of GPUs, starting with RDNA 3 cards as early as July. FSR 4.1 launched in March for AMD's latest GPUs, namely the RX 9070 XT, 9070, and more. Older, but just as capable, RDNA 3 cards such as the RX 7900 XTX, have been stuck on FSR 3, with AMD repeatedly stating that newer hardware in its latest cards enabled the AI upscaling in a way previous architecture couldn't. That is no longer the case, with AMD's Jack Huynh(https://x.com/jackhuynh/status/2054904153013387273) stating that the company has done a lot of work to ensure the upscaling suite is optimized for the older hardware. Better still, he says AMD is also planning to release FSR 4.1 on even older RDNA 2 GPUs, such as the one found in the Steam Deck, in early 2027. This not only enhances older desktop GPUs during a time where the price of PC hardware has increased exponentially, but it also is good news for upcoming RDNA 3 devices, like Valve's Steam Machine(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/steam-machine-release-date-price-everything-we-know/1100-6536286/). When it was originally announced, Valve said that the living-room PC would leverage upscaling to support games at 4K, but the reliance on FSR 3 at the time didn't make that option too enticing given its shortcomings. With FSR 4.1, the same technology that currently underpins Sony's PSSR 2(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps5-pros-upgraded-pssr-is-rolling-out-today-here-are-the-first-games-getting-it/1100-6538811/) on the PlayStation 5 Pro, that is a different discussion entirely. What might be even more potentially exciting is AMD's promise to also bring FSR 4.1 to even older RDNA 2 GPUs in early 2027, which includes those found in the Steam Deck. The news also suggests that consoles like the Xbox Series X could start leveraging the latest version of FSR, too, but that would be solely up to developers. And considering recent releases, such as Pragmata(https://www.gamespot.com/games/pragmata/), still utilize FSR 1 on both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, there's no guarantee that they will. Still, this is great news if you've been looking to get more from your existing hardware, and should go a long way to making games look better when being scaled up from lower resolutions. How much performance you'll be able to claw back at the same time, however, remains to be seen.

It’s Equally Exciting And Worrying That Some Of The Best VR Games Are Coming To Console

Some more classic virtual reality games are coming to flatscreen gaming platforms, as Polyarc has announced Moss: The Forgotten Relic. It's great that more players will have access to these wonderful games, but it does feel like a result of the struggles that VR gaming currently faces. Moss: The Forgotten Relic(https://www.polyarcgames.com/news/announcing-moss-the-forgotten-relic) combines Moss(https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/moss-review-tiny-triumph/1900-6416866/), Moss: The Twilight Garden, and Moss: Book 2 into a singular experience for Steam and PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo consoles. Like in the VR games, players will guide a mouse named Quill through a storybook adventure, interacting with the world to help out along the way. This version reworks the camera and presentation to work on flatscreen TVs or monitors, when it previously did not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-0bqE1wl00 The Moss games are truly some of the best VR experiences out there, so any console player who picks Moss: The Forgotten Relic will likely be in for a great time. That said, it's hard to ignore that this is happening during a rocky year for the VR gaming industry. Meta largely pulled out of first-party development by shutting down its studios in January(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/meta-shuts-down-the-studios-behind-deadpool-vr-asgards-wrath-2-and-resident-evil-4-vr/1100-6537375/), and many other VR studios have shut down or laid off developers(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ubisoft-just-ceased-game-development-at-the-studio-that-created-rainbow-six-report/1100-6538894/). There's also a larger trend of VR-built games coming to flatscreen platforms this year. Famed VR developer Survios recently ported Alien: Rogue Incursion to consoles(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/alien-rogue-incursion-is-escaping-vr-with-new-enhanced-edition/1100-6531418/), only to subsequently lay off several developers(https://www.uploadvr.com/survios-reportedly-sees-critical-layoffs/). The Myst and Riven VR remakes are also coming to more consoles(https://cyan.com/2026/05/05/myst-and-riven-console-announce/) soon. Even the successful VR developers now feel the need to branch out into more traditional console games. Moss: The Forgotten Relic will be released for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S sometime this summer.

Kylie Jenner Calls The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 'One Of The Best Games Ever'

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2018/06/07/30b43152/botwart.jpg.webp) Kylie Jenner, the billionaire Kardashian sister behind Kylie Cosmetics, apparently has time for Nintendo Switch gaming when she's not filming reality TV, running a makeup business, or attending awards shows and basketball games with boyfriend Timothée Chalamet (who is also a gamer). But when The Legend of Zelda gets its hooks in you, what are you to do? In the latest episode of Therapuss, a mock-therapy talk show on Netflix hosted by influencer/media personality Jake Shane, Jenner says Zelda is "one of the best games ever." Though she doesn't specifically name The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild(https://gameinformer.com/product/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild), which launched with the Switch back in 2017, the details she provides make clear that's the adventure she's playing through. You can watch a clip of this discussion here(https://x.com/netflix/status/2054743503595340021?s=20). She describes to Shane, who is seemingly unfamiliar with the series, that you play as Link, 100 years after a war, and take on Divine Beast dungeons, fight Ganondorf, and explore Hyrule while attempting to save Princess Zelda. While explaining it, Jenner laughs and jokes she's "going to sound like such a nerd" (you're in good company, Kylie), but she also says she's still kind of new to the game – she's completed one Divine Beast dungeon and is en route to a second now, apparently. "It's the most intricate – I've played for days and hours," Jenner tells Shane. Excellent taste, Jenner. Make sure you play The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom after you finish BOTW! She's not alone in Hollywood, either – Sally Field loves BOTW too(https://filmstories.co.uk/news/sally-field-loves-the-legend-of-zelda/)! Best Buy Might Have Leaked That Grand Theft Auto 6 Preorders Will Go Live On Monday

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2025/05/06/6aaf1231/vicecity01.jpg.webp) Grand Theft Auto VI(https://gameinformer.com/product/grand-theft-auto-vi) is set to launch on November 19(https://gameinformer.com/2025/11/06/grand-theft-auto-vi-release-date-delayed-to-november-2026) on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It's been over a year since the last trailer(https://gameinformer.com/2025/05/06/rockstar-just-unveiled-the-second-grand-theft-auto-vi-trailer), and fans are clamoring for new information every day. While there's no news of a trailer on the horizon, preorders might be going live next week, at least according to leaked affiliate information from retailer Best Buy. Over on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit(https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/), there's a popular post(https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/1tclmls/bestbuymayhaveslippedupgta6preorders/?utmsource=share&utmmedium=web3x&utmname=web3xcss&utmterm=1&utmcontent=sharebutton) gathering various posts from Best Buy affiliates (content creators that get cuts of sales when players use their code to purchase something from the store online) who claim to have received an email that reveals preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI might go live next week. Specifically, the Best Buy emails these creators have received show a 5% earnings (or maybe discount – the email isn't super clear) rate for a campaign called "GTA 6 Pre Order (Physical Game)" with a duration of "May 18, 2026 - May 21, 2026," meaning preorders could go live on Monday. !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/05/14/16fe333b/emailgta6.jpg.webp) Frogboyx1Gaming on X A screenshot of the email Best Buy affiliate users are reportedly receiving While it's best to remain cautious, especially with anything pertaining to Rockstar Games, more and more creators are discovering this affiliate email in their inboxes – the GamingLeaksAndRumours post is rounding them up as they come in with photo and video proof. Even popular video game deals accounts, like Cheap Ass Gamer over on X(https://x.com/videogamedeals/status/2054781336468992335?s=20), have received the Best Buy affiliate account email, further proving that the emails with the details are real and not a fabrication. Now, of course, it's important to point out that just because Best Buy apparently has an affiliate sales campaign starting Monday for Grand Theft Auto VI, it doesn't mean preorders for the game will go live next week. This could be a mistake or misprint from Best Buy – fortunately, we seemingly won't have to wait long to find out.
