Monster Hunter Outlanders launches registration for its third closed beta

Monster Hunter has had a meteoric rise since its earliest days on the PlayStation, becoming a bona fide cornerstone of Capcom's catalogue abroad as much as it was in Japan. Now, fans on mobile will soon be able to get their hands on the latest smartphone adaptation, Monster Hunter Outlanders, with its latest closed beta open for sign-ups. Monster Hunter Outlanders, unlike spinoffs such as Monster Hunter Now, looks to replicate the classic third-person ARPG mechanics of the original series. Allowing you to not only battle enormous monsters (duh) but also to explore the expansive and fantastical world of the Monster Hunter series too. Suffice it to say that it's got both longtime fans and newcomers intrigued. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/monster-hunter-outlanders/third-closed-beta-registration-now-open/)

All romance options and relationships in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/lune-smiling.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) Clair Obscur: Expedition 33(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/clair-obscur-expedition-33)'s romance and relationships work a bit differently than you might be used to. The concept may seem familiar to friendship events in games like Persona 5(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/persona-5) or even Stardew Valley(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/stardew-valley), but there's much less pressure to get things "right" in Expedition 33. You'll want to complete relationship events as soon as you're able, simply for the rewards they unlock. But they don't vanish after a set time, nor does choosing one companion preclude you from spending time with another. In this guide, we'll explain how Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's relationships and romance work and what you get for raising each companion's Relationship Level. We'll also specifically explain how to romance Lune and Sciel. Read more(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/clair-obscur-expedition-33-all-romance-relationships)

PlayStation’s Digital-Only Future Makes Sony’s Dynamic Pricing Harder To Ignore🎮 PlayStation, Multi-platform

PlayStation’s Digital-Only Future Makes Sony’s Dynamic Pricing Harder To Ignore

With Sony officially ending disc production for PS5 games in 2028(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/sony-confirms-playstation-disc-production-will-end-in-2028/), hurtling us toward an all-digital future, it's worth remembering that the PlayStation maker recently introduced a new pricing model that is all the more worrying in the wake of this news. Back in March 2026, reports surfaced that PlayStation had unleashed dynamic pricing(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstations-dynamic-pricing-appears-to-offer-a-huge-gap-in-what-you-pay-for-ps5-games/1100-6539037/) in various regions from Brazil to North America. This new model changed the prices you'd see on the PlayStation Store for a PS5 game depending on several factors, including your gaming habits (like when you last logged in), location, and PSN account details (like how old it is). For example, one Brazilian could get the action-adventure game Stellar Blade(https://www.gamespot.com/games/stellar-blade/) for $39.89 while another may snatch it up for $20.99. According to reports from both Eurogamer(https://www.eurogamer.net/playstation-store-dynamic-pricing-reportedly-spotted-march-2026) and Insider Gaming(https://insider-gaming.com/playstations-dynamic-pricing-nearly-doubles-prices-of-some-games/), this pricing model impacted first- and third-party games. Astro Bot(https://www.gamespot.com/games/astro-bot/)--developed by the PlayStation-owned Japanese studio Team Asobi--saw wildly different prices, as noted by Cheap Ass Gamer(https://x.com/videogamedeals/status/2036786492467507615). Stellar Blade, on the other hand, was developed by the South Korean studio Shift Up and published by PlayStation. This dynamic pricing model is quite concerning now that PlayStation is effectively killing physical games(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-disc-death-sends-the-internet-into-its-physical-media-defense-arc/) in 2028. Though they do go on sale occasionally, digital games aren't always cheaper than their physical counterparts. And because local governments require that the company collect sales taxes on digital goods(https://www.playstation.com/en-us/legal/terms-of-service/), you're sometimes paying the same--if not more--for a digital game. This has resulted in class-action lawsuits in both California(https://www.levelup.com/en/news/playstation-faces-class-action-lawsuit-over-allegedly-misleading-ps-store-practices/) and the Netherlands(https://www.tomshardware.com/video-games/playstation/sony-faces-class-action-over-expensive-digital-game-and-dlc-prices-sony-tax-means-digital-games-cost-an-average-of-47-percent-more-than-those-on-disc-group-alleges). All of this points to a potentially expensive--or, at the very least, dizzyingly unpredictable--all-digital future where you could pay one price, your friend may pay another price, and your sibling (or whomever) pays a totally different price. It's all up in there, and that's the worrying part.

Nintendo Could Inherit The Physical Gaming Crown By Default

Sony plans to sell PlayStation games exclusively as digital products(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/sony-confirms-playstation-disc-production-will-end-in-2028/) starting in 2028, and it's rumored that Microsoft will also adopt a digital-only approach(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/next-gen-xbox-may-not-have-disc-drive-disc-to-digital-feature-coming-reports-say/) with its next-gen Xbox Project Helix(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/next-xbox-release-date-specs-display-price/1100-6525379/), a move that could leave Nintendo as the only console manufacturer that will still release games physically--at least for this current gaming generation. Speaking to VGC(https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/playstation-ditching-physical-games-unlikely-to-influence-nintendos-plans-says-analyst/), Circana senior director and video game industry advisor Mat Piscatella commented on how he believes that both the PS6 and Project Helix will be digital-only gaming consoles. The upside to this is that, thanks to Nintendo operating in its own bubble, it doesn't look like it'll be ditching cartridges in response to Sony and Microsoft's plans. "My gut says Nintendo does what Nintendo wants to do, and I don't see them changing anything in their plans based on what Sony or Microsoft do on anything, really," Piscatella explained. "Nintendo is going to be Nintendo, for better and/or worse. Retail has already leaned into Nintendo support more and more over the past few years--Nintendo also holds a very strong share of physical software and hardware sales since the launch of Switch 2 in particular--so this could continue to increase, sure." According to its FY25/26 end-of-year report(https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2026/2605084e.pdf), Nintendo says that digital sales of its games account for 67.2% of software purchases. Digital sales on Sony platforms have climbed dramatically over the last decade, with 78% of its sales being digital purchases. Reports now claim that both the PS6 and Project Helix will do away with disc drives(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/next-gen-xbox-may-not-have-disc-drive-disc-to-digital-feature-coming-reports-say/?thumbnailid=1806575) entirely. While Nintendo still has a sizable physical presence, it's worth noting that many games--especially third-party ones--are sold as Game-Key Cards(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/certain-nintendo-switch-2-physical-games-are-game-key-cards-for-downloads/1100-6530576/). These are essentially authentication keys in cartridge form, as players will still have to install game data to their Switch 2 and keep the cartridge inserted to play their games. Fortunately, the carts are not locked to a Switch 2 account or console(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-switch-2-game-key-cards-wont-be-tied-to-your-account/1100-6530654/), and they can be resold, allowing a new user to download a game--for as long as the servers are kept online, that is. PlayStation and Xbox game discs have functioned along the same lines for years now, as both consoles required users to download data from the discs onto their respective machines and keep the physical media for authenticating the installs. While Game-Key Cards are designed to be a cheaper publisher-friendly alternative, they're not without criticism, as some historians have expressed fears over the future(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/switch-2s-game-key-cards-are-a-little-disheartening-for-game-preservation-says-dev/1100-6531262/) of video game preservation efforts.
