Mina The Hollower Finally Launches Later This Month

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/05/06/d4f5f6d3/mina-the-hollower-scene.jpg.webp) Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games has finally revealed a new release date for its long-awaited retro-inspired action game, Mina the Hollower(https://gameinformer.com/preview/2023/09/04/a-new-look-at-the-promising-love-letter-to-the-game-boy-era). Thankfully, it’s only a few weeks away, as the game arrives on May 29th. First announced in February 2022(https://gameinformer.com/2022/02/01/mina-the-hollower-is-shovel-knight-studio-yacht-club-games-next-project), Mina the Hollower draws inspiration from top-down Zelda, Castlevania, and sports an 8-bit presentation evoking Game Boy Color titles. It stars Mina, a famous scientist or “Hollower” who travels to a cursed island to help restore its lost power. Playing off her title, Mina can burrow underground, which is used in combat, puzzle-solving, and exploring the overworld and dungeons. Mina also wields a whip to attack enemies and can also use a variety of sidearms. Check out the most recent trailer from last year below to see the game in action (just disregard the out-of-date October release date). Mina the Hollower was originally crowdfunded on Kickstarter, and backers were the first to learn of the game’s new release date. The game was first scheduled to release last Halloween before it was delayed(https://gameinformer.com/2025/10/06/yacht-club-games-delays-mina-the-hollower). Mina the Hollower will launch on May 29 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, Switch, and PC. For more on the game, check out this 2025 deep-dive feature(https://gameinformer.com/feature/2025/08/26/digging-for-gems) where we spoke with Yacht Club Games founder Sean Velasco to learn new gameplay details. Switch 2 Reportedly Too Good a Deal, Investors Want That Fixed

Amid rising industry costs and a declining stock price, Nintendo may face shareholder pressure to increase the price of the Switch 2 console. A Bloomberg report notes that(https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2026-05-06/nintendo-switch-2-price-hike-in-spotlight-ahead-of-earnings) Nintendo's upcoming financial earnings release--scheduled for May 8--comes at a challenging time. While the company's shares have declined for several months, its first-party game releases, theme park attractions, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie have all performed well. However, the Switch 2 console is being sold at a loss globally. The Switch 2 is priced at $450 in the US and $318 for the region-locked Japanese version. While sales have been strong overall--despite a lukewarm Christmas period(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-reducing-switch-2-production-after-weaker-than-expected-holiday-report/1100-6538976/)--investors believe Nintendo should reduce losses or achieve profitability per unit. This may prompt Nintendo to follow Microsoft(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-consoles-games-and-accessories-see-price-increases-starting-today/1100-6531257/) and Sony(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps5-price-increase-confirmed-by-sony-amid-market-pressures/1100-6539060/) by raising the Switch 2 price by at least $50. Unlike the original Switch, which launched at a profit, Nintendo has opted to absorb costs on the Switch 2 and focus on profits from games and accessories. MS Flight Sim Adds Mission Where You Water-Bomb A Fire In Australia To Honor Local Firefighters🍄 Nintendo Switch, Multi-platform

MS Flight Sim Adds Mission Where You Water-Bomb A Fire In Australia To Honor Local Firefighters

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024's new World Update 21: Australia has arrived, and in addition to adding more cities, airports, and three-dozen new points of interest, the update includes a new mission meant to honor the New South Wales Rural Fire Service (RFS)(https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/volunteer/join-the-nsw-rfs). This is the largest fire service in the world, made up of nearly 70,000 volunteers, and it's a big job in the country where bushfires are an ongoing threat. Devastating fires in the country in 2019/2020 made international news(https://wwf.org.au/what-we-do/australian-bushfires/), with millions of acres burned, more than 30 human deaths, and more than 1.5 billion animals losing their lives due to the blazes. One technique that firefighters use to put out fires in Australia is aerial firefighting, which is where the MS Flight Simulator crossover comes in. The game is adding a mission where players will use a water-bombing technique to put out a fire in the state of New South Wales, home to Sydney. This involves piloting a specialized aircraft and dumping a huge amount of water on a fire to help put it out. In the game, players are called to put out a fire near Coffs Harbour. The mission involves players piloting an aircraft to a body of water where they scoop it up and then fly to the fire to help put it out. Hitman Dev Talks GTA 6 Delay, First Light For Switch 2, And What's Up With Its Fantasy Game

Hitman developer IO Interactive has discussed a number of hot-button issues, including the impact of GTA 6(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/grand-theft-auto-6-everything-we-know/1100-6503729/)'s delay, the status of the game's delayed Switch 2 version(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/007-first-light-delayed-for-switch-2/1100-6539272/), and what's going on with its mysterious fantasy game. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak covered these topics in an interview with The Game Business(https://www.thegamebusiness.com/p/we-talk-007-amazon-switch-2-hitman). Regarding the impact of GTA 6's delay from May 2026 to November 2026, Abrak said he would be lying if he said he didn't care about GTA 6 shifting further away from 007 First Light's release on May 27. First Light was originally set to launch in March, which was just a couple months before GTA 6 was supposed to release in May. Then Rockstar delayed GTA 6, and this provided "a bit more breathing room" for First Light. "GTA is a huge behemoth in our industry," he said. "We never wish anyone ill. They have their good reasons for pushing it. I am certain it’s going be amazing." Lego And Sega Are Bringing You A Buildable, Tiny Sega Genesis

Adult Lego fans have no shortage of ways to indulge in nostalgia in recent years. Besides making plenty of game-themed sets based on Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Minecraft, Lego has also seen fit to give nostalgic Gen-Xers and Millenials (and retro-interested young folks) ways to rebuild the nostalgic gaming consoles of their past (minus the game-playing capability) with NES(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/lego-nes-review-bricked-consoles-can-be-wonderful-/1100-6480351/), Game Boy(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/lego-nintendo-game-boy-designer-interview/1100-6535866/), and even Atari 2600 kits(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/lego-atari-2600-is-here-and-its-a-retro-delight/1100-6506047/). Today, Lego and Sega unveiled the newest set to join the library of brick-based consoles: the Lego Sega Genesis. !No Caption Provided(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/1532/15327795/4691385-3drjqjwq.jpeg)(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/1532/15327795/4691385-3drjqjwq.jpeg) Gallery !Gallery image 1(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/squareavatar/1532/15327795/4691405-40926lifestylebuildcrop.jpg)(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/1532/15327795/4691405-40926lifestylebuildcrop.jpg) !Gallery image 2(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/squareavatar/1532/15327795/4691406-40926lifestyleconscrop.jpg)(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/1532/15327795/4691406-40926lifestyleconscrop.jpg) !Gallery image 3(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/squareavatar/1532/15327795/4691407-40926lifestyleenvrcrop.jpg)(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/1532/15327795/4691407-40926lifestyleenvrcrop.jpg) !Gallery image 4(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/squareavatar/1532/15327795/4691408-40926lifestylebuild.jpg)(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/1532/15327795/4691408-40926lifestylebuild.jpg) !Gallery image 5(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/squareavatar/1532/15327795/4691410-40926lifestyleenvr3.jpg)(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/1532/15327795/4691410-40926lifestyleenvr3.jpg) !Gallery image 6(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/squareavatar/1532/15327795/4691411-40926lifestyleenvr2.jpg)(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/1532/15327795/4691411-40926lifestyleenvr2.jpg) !Gallery image 7(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/squareavatar/1532/15327795/4691412-40926lifestyleenvr.jpg)(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/1532/15327795/4691412-40926lifestyleenvr.jpg) This set, due for release on June 1st, marks the first Sega console (though technically not the first piece of Sega hardware(https://clicks.trx-hub.com/xid/fandom32094gamespot?q=https%3A%2F%2Fclick.linksynergy.com%2Fdeeplink%3Fid%3DVZfI20jEa0c%26mid%3D13923%26u1%3Dsubidvalue%26murl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.lego.com%252Fen-us%252Fproduct%252Fsega-genesis-controller-40769&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamespot.com%2Ffeeds%2Fmashup%2F%3Ftype%3D11&eventtype=click)) to enter the Lego lineup. Retailing for £34.99 / €39.99 / $39.99, the set contains 479 pieces and is 4.5 inches long and six inches wide. It also comes with a cartridge and controllers you can insert and connect for the full console experience. You'll be able to order the Lego Genesis from Lego itself online, or you can purchase it from your favorite brick-and-mortar retailer. Of course, eagle-eyed Sega fans have surely noticed that some pictures show the console with Genesis branding, while others say Mega Drive--the latter being the system's Japanese and European moniker. The model will come with stickers allowing you to customize which console variant you want, so if you're from North America but prefer the maiden name of Sega's 16-bit legend, nobody's going to stop you from building it however you want. Star Fox For Switch 2 Is Still Coming Despite No Announcement, Leaker Claims

Prominent industry leaker NateTheHate has asserted that a Star Fox game for Switch 2(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-fox-for-switch-2-could-be-announced-very-soon-report/1100-6539273/) is still in the works, despite Nintendo not announcing it in April as was previously reported. Replying to a user on Twitter (via GamesRadar(https://www.gamesradar.com/games/action/star-fox-switch-2-leaker-insists-i-do-not-doubt-the-games-existence-as-the-rumored-game-misses-its-expected-announcement/)), NateTheHate said, "I do not doubt the game's existence. Several outlets/people have spoken on the game beyond me, as well." He admitted that the timing he had heard for the announcement, however, appears to have been wrong, though it's possible plans had changed internally at Nintendo. > As said several days ago: I do not doubt the game's existence. Injustice 3 Is Looking Like The Next Fighting Game From NetherRealm - Report

After almost a decade without a new entry, the Injustice series might be returning from NetherRealm Studios. MP1st(https://mp1st.com/news/report-injustice-3-in-development-at-netherrealm-studios) reports a Warner Bros. Games artist listed Injustice 3 on their resume, alongside Hogwarts Legacy 2(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/hogwarts-legacy-2-gets-unexpected-update-connection-to-upcoming-show/1100-6527589/) and two unannounced projects. This comes almost a year after a dataminer strongly hinted that Injustice 3 was in the works(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/injustice-3-could-be-on-the-way-dataminer-hints/1100-6531632/). It's been almost exactly nine years since Injustice 2 launched in May 2017. To put that in perspective, the original Nintendo Switch had only been out two months and Justice League hadn't even been released in theaters yet. In fact, director Zack Snyder hadn't even stepped away from that DC film quite yet--a domino that led to the Snyder Cut movement. Fast forward to today, and James Gunn is now co-leading DC Studios(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/james-gunn-will-co-lead-dc-studios-steering-upcoming-dceu-movies-shows-and-cartoons/1100-6508620/), with Supergirl set to premiere in June. Last year, Gunn and his co-chief Peter Safran noted that they had met with NetherRealm and Rocksteady about video games in the new incarnation of the DC Universe. NetherRealm has been consistently crafting fight games over the past 15 years. Mortal Kombat 1 was its latest release, coming out in 2023. Before that, the developer launched Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019, with Injustice 2 preceding that in 2017. Super Mario Galaxy 2 Got A Surprise Update Amid The Movie's Massive Success

Following the huge box-office success of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Nintendo snuck in a small update to Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Nintendo Switch that adds a bit more story. The update gives Rosalina's Storybook, which depicts the tale of twin Lumas(https://www.nintendo.com/us/whatsnew/new-storybook-chapter-added-to-super-mario-galaxy-2/), a proper epilogue. You can unlock this new chapter simply by completing any galaxy and nabbing a Power Star, assuming you've unlocked all of the previous storybook chapters already. While you might guess that this epilogue codifies the new canon established by the Super Mario Galaxy Movie(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/princess-peachs-super-mario-galaxy-movie-lineage-is-canon-says-miyamoto/1100-6539559/)--something Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto seemed keen to honor in the games--that isn't the case with this storybook update. There's still a bit of Rosalina in this epilogue, though, and this last chapter should prove to be emotional for anyone invested in Galaxy's storybook subplot.
