Overview & Key Takeaways

Whatever your opinion on some of the biggest gacha games out there, I think it's fair to say many have a huge amount of effort put into their art and music. We've seen the latter in examples such as Reverse: 1999 and Wuthering Waves, the latter of which has been on a successful run with its own live concert tour. And if you've been wanting to have a listen for yourself, and you happen to live in Los Angeles, then you're in luck! This October 17th, the Peacock Theater in LA will play host to the Wuthering Waves Concert Tour: To the New World. The show will feature performances of original music from the game. ... [MORE]

Waveform

Considering that Wuthering Waves has already played host to sell-out shows from Shanghai to Seoul and Singapore, I wouldn't be surprised if this concert ends up being a sell-out as well.

But it's also a testament to the fact that, as much as it's tempting to dismiss gacha games as mere cash grabs, many of them do have a dedicated and passionate team behind them. And they put a lot of care and effort into how these games actually come together, even with something like music.

Still, if you live outside of Los Angeles, you may be out of luck. But if you're willing to make the trip, you can buy tickets for the show online. Or take a look at our Wuthering Waves tier list if you're jumping in for the first time to give it a go!

In the meantime, if you fancy checking out some of the other exciting examples of what's on mobile at the minute, you can find all the latest picks on our list of the five new mobile games to try this week. That's where we feature some of the most interesting launches from the last seven days!

Slots & Daggers sees you leaving things up to chance in this dark fantasy Balatro-like

Ever since Balatro combined the roguelike with poker, it seems that many developers have tried their hand at coming up with a similar combination. And the RPG has been a favourite to try and put a twist on, as you can see with the newly released Slots & Daggers for iOS and Android! Already releasing on Steam to rave reviews, Slots & Daggers combines a strange dark fantasy world with slot-machine style spins to acquire weapons, armour and equipment. Each battle you go into is as dependent on luck as your own ability, with small microgames to activate your weaponry and abilities. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/slots-daggers/out-now/)

The Convergence is a dark fantasy auto-battler that uses an isometric perspective

As we head towards midday, there's an interesting little iOS auto-battler that's just crossed my desk. That's a genre I've often expressed confusion about the appeal of in the past, but if there's one that can justify why people like it, I reckon that The Convergence, out now on iOS, may just be that! With its isometric perspective and dark fantasy world, it's easy to see that The Convergence may have taken some significant inspiration from the world of Diablo. In it, you equip your heroes and send them out, watching as they either succeed or fail based on your preparation. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/the-convergence/out-now-on-ios/)

MoonDust: Cosmic Journey is an atmospheric sci-fi side-scroller with lush graphics

It's hard to really communicate the majesty and grandeur of outer space in gaming. I mean, there's only so many times you can stare in wonder at stars and nebulae before it all gets a bit samey. Fortunately, MoonDust: Cosmic Journey offers a truly visually attention-grabbing take on worlds of sci-fi and outer space! Available now on iOS, MoonDust is described by the developer as an atmospheric sci-fi exploration game. What that means is you'll have basic side-scrolling action in the foreground as you pilot your ship and avoid obstacles while collecting different elements, as in the background a gorgeous vista of strange alien worlds goes by. ...
