Subnautica 2: All Biomods and how to unlock them
Overview & Key Takeaways

Biomods Subnautica 2 are clever DNA changes that will change your character for the better, unlocked by scanning various flora, fauna and sea creatures. But, while grabbing the first four Biomods is pretty simple, getting your hands on the rest is going to require some hefty groundwork.
From detecting nearby threats to emitting a sonar pulse that'll help you find resources, these Biomods completely alter what you're capable of in the game. Active Biomods are triggered abilities that come into play when you need them most and Passive ones are traits that are, fortunately, always on. Here's all the Biomods available in Subnautica 2 and everything you need to know to unlock them.

How to unlock Biomods

You're introduced to Biomods fairly early on by a quick visit to the Welcome Center located around 100 meters south-southeast of your Lifepod. This is where you'll find a Biolab, the system you can use to equip and swap Biomods. But, how do you acquire your first ones?
Well, before you can interact with the Biolab in the Welcome Center, you'll need to get it powered up. To do this, craft a Battery at your Fabricator using 2x Copper and 1x Acidic Raion Pouch. Insert the Battery into the Power Terminal inside the Welcome Center. It's pretty easy to spot as it's glowing bright red on the wall.

Once the Battery is inserted, you'll be able to interact with the Biolab and unlock the first four Biomods in the game โ Dash and Pathfinder (Active), Oxygen Control and Sea Skimmer (Passive). Note: You can only ever equip one Active and one Passive Biomod.
You can also craft your own Biolab for your Base at any time using the Habitat Builder. For this, you'll need 3x Titanium, 1x Copper Wire and 1x Mild Acid. To unlock the other 11 Biomods in Subnautica 2, you're going to need a Bioscanner.
How to unlock the Bioscanner

Before you attempt to get the Bioscanner Blueprint, I highly recommend getting yourself a few things to prepare for the journey. You'll be heading to a wreck in the Alien Ruins biome and you'll need to pass the Collector, one of the Leviathans in Subnautica 2. For this, you'll want to know how to get a Tadpole and once you've crafted that, you'll probably want to think about equipping it with the Tadpole Scout Ray Chassis. Luckily, we've got on all the Tadpole upgrades and how to get them.

You'll also need a Repair Tool to get past a broken door that will block your way. For this, you'll need to have unlocked the Repair Tool and craft it using 1x Titanium Ingot, 1x Wiring Kit, 1x Basic Battery and 1x Sulfur.
You're also going to be diving deep into the wreck, so I recommend taking a look at our Blueprints guide to unlock Improved Fins and the High Capacity Air Tank, too. When you're ready, head to the Cicada Wreck (EVA Prep) located 1200 to 1300 meters east of your Lifepod and around 100 to 130 meters deep.

The entrance is marked with a '73'. Head inside, fix the door with your Repair Tool and weave your way through the rooms. You'll reach a bit of a dead end, so journey down the hole in the floor in the far corner. Follow the tunnels through and eventually you'll come out to a room where the Bioscanner is laying on the floor. Note: There are bubbles you can use for Oxygen coming out of an air tank, if needed. I recommend heading out the way you entered to get back to your Tadpole quickly.
How to craft the Bioscanner

To craft the Bioscanner, you can't use your Fabricator. Instead, you need to unlock and craft the Modification Station. Head to the Alien Ruins Research Outpost located around 1000 to 1300 meters east from your Lifepod. Inside, there's a Modification Station you can scan to unlock the Blueprint.
To craft the Modification Station, you'll need 2x Titanium, 2x Celestine and 2x Copper. To then craft the Bioscanner, you'll need 1x Standard Scanner, 2x Enameled Glass and 3x Conduit Crystal. It's a lot of resources, but you can find all of them around the Karakorum biome.
With your Bioscanner in hand, it's time to unlock the other 11 Biomods by using the below tables to guide you on what to scan. Once you've acquired each one, you can equip them at a Biolab, either returning to the Welcome Center or crafting your own.
