Overview & Key Takeaways

Revelation drops on all platforms simultaneously. Thank god.

The Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy will soon come to an end with next year's third and final entry, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. The Square Enix RPG was the last big announcement for today's Summer Game Fest live show, and one you can play on PC when it launches next year.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi joined Geoff Keighley on stage for the reveal, which included a trailer packed with FF7 iconography you'll recognize in a heartbeat, like the Highwind, monstrous Weapons, and footage of Vincent and Cid in battle. You can check it all out for yourself in the not one, but two trailers that debuted during the show.

Shortly after the first cinematic aired, Hamaguchi invited Matt Mercer—the voice of Vincent Valentine—to the stage to talk us through an even longer gameplay reveal. The battle system is the same real-time tactical hybrid from the first two, but now you have the additional party members that weren't playable in Rebirth along for the ride.

Both Final Fantasy 7 Revelation trailers throw a lot at you, so here's what stood out to me at a glance:

  • Ability to fly around the open world in the Highwind
  • New FITS system for playing dress up and learning new movesets, very classic Final Fantasy (and X-2) of them
  • Playable Cid and Vincent, finally

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation launches in spring 2027.

Sort of. It was in fact the joke ending received at the end of Baghead's questline in Desolate Peak(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/mortal-shell-2-walkthrough-part-10-desolate-peak). But now that's done, it's time to get serious again as we venture towards the Ruins Of Nochte. In a similar manner to Mushroom Village(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/mortal-shell-2-walkthrough-part-3-mushroom-village), the Ruins Of Nochte have to be traversed in order to reach the next major legacy dungeon (and major boss) of the game. But it's also home to a great many hidden secrets, collectibles, dungeons, and bosses - as well as a brand new Shell! Follow along with our guide below for a step-by-step 100% walkthrough of the entire region of the Ruins Of Nochte.
