Klutch brings together drag racing and sci-fi storytelling soon on iOS and Android

Overview & Key Takeaways

Drag racers usually don’t have a lot of room for experimentation. You pick a car, upgrade it, tap at the right moment, repeat until the numbers get bigger. Klutch is trying to approach the same concept from a different angle. Same straight-line racing. But a much bigger sci-fi story wrapped around it. Created as an indie project, Klutch mixes drag racing mechanics with a narrative-driven sci-fi setting. It pulls inspiration from racers like CSR Racing 2 but pushes harder on worldbuilding. Instead of licensed sports cars and familiar JDM icons, the racer takes place in a custom universe filled with futuristic ships, factions, and characters whose rivalries spill over onto the track. ... Drag racers usually don’t have a lot of room for experimentation. You pick a car, upgrade it, tap at the right moment, repeat until the numbers get bigger.

You were once a legendary ship tuner and racer who decided to give it all away. That changes when your former partner Chase reappears. Presumed dead after joining a rebellion known as the Redline Dominion, he’s now resurfaced as one of its captains after the group overthrew the Empire and replaced it with what they call a “Speed-o-cracy”.

Speed Racer vibes, anyone?

The wider cast includes characters like The Gatekeeper, an elusive figure who controls access to powerful ship modifications, and Vex Spool, another key leader within Redline Dominion. The tone focuses heavily on dramatic rivalries, shifting alliances, and the sort of high-stakes competition you’d normally expect from a racing anime.

Gameplay-wise, Klutch still revolves around quick drag races built around precision timing and tuning. But they’ve deliberately trimmed down some of the usual mobile friction points as well. That means fewer pop-ups, faster loading into races, and less waiting between runs.

It combines anime-inspired effects and character design with the loud, aggressive attitude of American muscle racing. Just translated into futuristic spacecraft instead of traditional vehicles. Klutch is expected to launch on iOS and Android toward the end of March, with test builds already circulating for those interested in trying it early.

Heroic Legends Reborn is the product of two brothers rebuilding an MMO from the ground up

We all get nostalgic for games which other people seem to overlook. For me, it's Two Worlds (yeah, I know), and for two brothers, it's the now fifteen-year-old MMO Heroic Legends! So, what do you do when that game has disappeared? Well, if you're like them, you rebuild it yourself. With blessings from the original creators and access to the artwork used to create the hand-painted MMO, two brothers known as SonOfBoo and Andepher have recreated Heroic Legends from the ground up. Rechristened as Heroic Legends Reborn, it's slated to arrive on iOS and Android on September 5th. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/heroic-legends-reborn/coming-soon/)

Nintendo’s War On Switch Emulators Continues With 400 More GitHub Takedowns🍄 Nintendo Switch, Mobile, Multi-platform

Nintendo’s War On Switch Emulators Continues With 400 More GitHub Takedowns

Nintendo is doing what Nintendo does: issuing DMCA takedown notices to anyone who illegally offers access to any of the company's games. That's exactly what happened earlier this week, as Nintendo wiped out over 400 Switch emulators from GitHub. According to an August 21 TorrentFreak report(https://torrentfreak.com/nintendo-wipes-out-400-switch-emulator-repos-in-single-day-github-sweep/), the Mario maker sent the proprietary developer platform seven DMCA takedown notices targeting Nintendo Switch emulator repositories. This includes Suyu (the Yuzu successor that became popular after Yuzu shut down(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-lawsuit-shuts-down-switch-emulator-yuzu-and-3ds-emulator-citra/1100-6521589/) in March 2024), the Android emulator Skyline, and a few lingering Yuzu forks. In total, some 401 repositories were nuked off GitHub, with 311 of them being Suyu. Now that they're removed, if you attempt to visit the repository on GitHub, you'll receive either a 404 error or a pop-up notification that it's been taken down. In the DMCA pop-up notification, Nintendo states that the targeted repositories "offer, link to, or otherwise provide access to Nintendo Switch emulators." The company said these emulators violate Technological Protection Measures (TPMs), which act as digital locks controlled by copyright owners to prevent copying data illegally. "Specifically, these Nintendo Switch emulators illegally circumvent Nintendo's TPMs in order to run illegal copies of Nintendo Switch games," the notice reads. "Nintendo Switch games are encrypted using proprietary cryptographic keys (prod.keys) which protect against unauthorized access to and copying of the copyrighted games. During operation, the emulators at the reported repositories necessarily use unauthorized copies of these cryptographic keys to decrypt unauthorized copies of Nintendo Switch games, or ROMs, at or immediately before runtime without Nintendo's authorization." With Nintendo summoning the Eye of Mario on 401 repositories earlier this week, and over 8,500 repositories in May 2024(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-shuts-down-yuzu-clones-in-ongoing-quest-to-kill-switch-emulation/1100-6523158/), this brings the company's repository death count to almost 9,000 on GitHub alone. And with Nintendo filing a lawsuit against Yuzu creator Tropic Haze in February 2024(https://kotaku.com/nintendo-zelda-tears-kingdom-switch-yuzu-emulate-pirate-1851293463), which resulted in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom(https://www.gamespot.com/games/the-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom/) being pirated over one million times before it launched, the company's war on emulators continues.
