Reverse: 1999 Version 3.4 Phase 2 pushes story forward with Cheng Heguang

Overview & Key Takeaways

Second half updates usually just feel like cleanup, adding the remaining content and fixing whatever wasn’t working. Reverse: 1999 isn’t doing that this time. Phase 2 of Version 3.4 is steaming ahead strongly, picking up where Spring Unending left off. The story’s finally pushing forward once again. Reverse: 1999 now puts Cheng Heguang front and centre. He was teased earlier, but here he’s fully playable through his own banner, alongside a character story that has the whole wandering martial artist angle. It’s a slightly different tone from the usual time-jumping chaos, but it fits well. ... [MORE]

  • Reverse: 1999 continues Version 3.4 with Phase 2 content

  • Events, modes, and rewards return alongside system updates

Paper Heron hasn’t gone anywhere either. She’s still the limited character for this version, and if you skipped her the first time around, this is basically your second nudge. Whether she’s worth it depends on your setup, so it’s probably worth checking our Reverse: 1999 tier list before you start throwing pulls around.

Outside of characters, the update builds on existing systems. Pre-Storm Protocol comes back with a little more complexity, giving you more structure to work through instead of just wandering and hoping for the best. There’s a free 4-star tied to it as well, which never hurts.

Musae’s Arcade mode is still hanging around, too, which feels like the patch’s way of letting you switch off for a bit. It’s lighter, more over the place, and not something you need to take too seriously unless you’re chasing the rewards tied to it.

There’s also a short return for the Chinatown event if you missed it earlier. The anniversary side of things is still doing what it does best. Offering freebies. Free pulls, login rewards, cosmetics, it’s all there, and it stacks up quickly if you’re checking in regularly.

If you’re jumping back in now that the second half of v3.4 is live, it’s probably worth grabbing the latest Reverse: 1999 codes first!

Game of Thrones: Dragonfire ties into season three finale with limited-time event

After the disastrous reception of the Game of Thrones finale way back in 2019, it seemed as if the franchise was done on television. And if you've been following House of the Dragon, you can now enjoy a limited-time event, available until August 24th, set to tie into the season three finale of the show. Lil' Guardsman is a Papers Please-style deduction adventure with you as an unlikely town guard

While Papers, Please invoked a really grim and dystopian style of gaming, for better or for worse, many other developers have taken a slightly lighter view on the subject. Case in point: the upcoming deductive sim Lil' Guardsman, which is set to release on iOS and Android this winter, puts you in the shoes of the bane of all adventurers. In Lil' Guardsman, you play as the twelve-year-old Lil, tasked with covering your father's shift as, unsurprisingly, a guardsman at the gate of a city called the Sprawl. You'll need to interrogate various visitors, ranging from wizards to cyclopes, and decide whether to let them in, jail them or deal with them in some other way. ...
