Nintendo just announced two Direct events for next week, scheduled back to back. First up is the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8th at 10AM ET / 7AM PT. It’s set to last around 30 minutes, streaming live on Nintendo’s YouTube channel or the Nintendo Today app.

Images recently leaked showing a special-edition 40th anniversary Zelda Switch 2 console and controller, plus there’s the Ocarina of Time remake that’s on the way, as well as the live-action Zelda movie expected to hit theaters sometime next year.

The next day, Nintendo is also running a regular Direct showcase at 10AM ET / 7AM PT that will run for around 45 minutes, focusing on Switch 2 games that will launch this winter, followed by a Nintendo Treehouse livestream with gameplay. These events usually include a preview of upcoming Nintendo Classics library additions too, but there’s no word on which games will be featured. Now that the Switch 2 costs an extra $50, which games do you think would help justify the higher price?

This includes a traditional Nintendo Direct and a special Direct celebrating The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary. The news was first announced on the Nintendo Today app. On Tuesday, September 8, The Legend of Zelda: 40th Anniversary Direct airs at 7:00 a.m. PT/10:00 a.m. ET. It will last approximately 30 minutes. Nintendo has not detailed what announcements to expect, but it's fair to assume updates on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake(https://gameinformer.com/nintendo-direct/2026/06/09/the-nintendo-switch-2-remake-of-the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time) and the live-action film The Legend of Zelda(https://gameinformer.com/2026/05/13/the-legend-of-zelda-movie-premiere-date-moved-up-one-week) are on the table. Not one, but two Nintendo Directs are coming next week. Nintendo has confirmed that a Legend of Zelda Direct will be held on September 8 at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET, and it'll be followed by a Nintendo Direct on September 9 at the same times. The Legend of Zelda: 40th Anniversary Direct will run for 30 minutes, while the Nintendo Direct is scheduled to run for 45 minutes. For a closer look at the games shown off, you can also tune in to a Nintendo Treehouse livestream after the Nintendo Direct, which will run for roughly 110 minutes. Rumors of a Nintendo Direct(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/a-september-10-nintendo-direct-is-looking-likely-thanks-to-just-dance/) began picking up earlier this week after Ubisoft announced that a new look at Just Dance: Decades of Hits was on the way. It's worth noting that the publisher announced it for September 10, but given how often Just Dance games appear in Nintendo broadcasts, it was assumed this would be the date of a Nintendo Direct.
