Overview & Key Takeaways

James Bond origin story 007 First Light received its first big content update on Friday that added new TacSim missions and more.

In June, IO Interactive shared a roadmap for future 007 First Light content, which includes a story DLC mission centered around pirate king Bawma. The first content update for the James Bond origin story dropped on Friday, headlined by two brand-new TacSim missions.

The three-tier mission, called "The Workshop," takes Bond to Q's workshop for a stealth mission. You'll use your wits, gadgets, and fists to silently take down enemies as you try to escape. "Extraction Avenue" swings the other way as you have to shoot your way through the level before reinforcements arrive.

Three new weapons arrive in TacSim as well: Stormberg 50'cal pistol (Clearance Level 10), DRX-2 Machine Pistol (Clearance Level 12), and DRS-7 Silenced SMG (Clearance Level 16). They'll all cost 3,000 intel to unlock. Also added is the relaxed Diamond in the Rough outfit (Clearance Level 18) for Bond that will run you 3,000 Intel too.

The patch, which is under 4 GB, except on PlayStation where it's a hearty 23.84 GB, also brings a plethora of bug fixes and stability improvements. "This update demonstrates our team's commitment to refining the 007 First Light experience," IO Interactive said of the update.

Fixes range from addressing issues causing crashes on Xbox Series S to animation improvements to scrubbing out translation errors. You can brush up on the full patch at IO Interactive's site.

We enjoyed our time with James Bond's origin story. "007 First Light is an incredibly shiny, well-polished game that truly lives up to its name," we wrote in our review. 007 First Light was released to critical acclaim and positioned itself as a game of the year contender straight away. It's available on PlayStation, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version coming sometime later in the year.

CoD: MW4 DLC Honors Real-Life Medal Of Honor Recipient Who Lost His Eye And Teeth In Grenade Blast

Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will have day-one DLC, and like in years past, it will focus on a real-life military hero, with proceeds going to charity. The Call of Duty Endowment Valor Pack, launching on October 23 alongside the game, adds the real-life Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter to the game as a playable character. Carpenter was in Marjah, Afghanistan, when, on November 21, 2010, he put himself in front of a grenade to help save the life of his fellow Marine, Nick Eufrazio. Carpenter sustained serious injuries from the grenade blast. He was unconscious for five weeks, had his teeth stripped from his mouth, and lost an eye. He sustained numerous other life-threatening injuries in the blast. Carpenter received the Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama in 2014. "No matter how wrecked your world gets, the world keeps spinning," Carpenter said in the video below. https://twitter.com/CODE4Vets/status/2090856990872650127 The Call of Duty Endowment is Activision's charity that supports military veterans and specifically helping soldiers find jobs after leaving the service. Proceeds from this new Valor Pack will benefit the endowment. There have been numerous other DLC packs for Call of Duty games supporting the endowment. A previous DLC pack for Black Ops 7 brought the real-life soldier Chris Cassidy to the game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/real-life-soldier-chris-cassidy-is-coming-to-call-of-duty-in-a-charity-bundle/1100-6539766/); he was among those hunting down Osama bin Laden immediately after 9/11, and then he became a NASA astronaut. Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, but the game's beta is going on right now for those who preordered the game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/cod-modern-warfare-4-aims-for-fast-and-fluid-movement-but-a-classic-mode-isnt-off-the-table/). An open beta for everyone will be held August 28-September 1.
