Overview & Key Takeaways

Comic-Con attendees discovered a strange color changing costume at Marvel's booth that looks a lot like Doctor Doom

Marvel surprised fans attending San Diego Comic-Con this year by revealing a new character for Avengers: Doomsday at the company's booth, of all places. On July 22, fans spotted the Latverian Witch costume on display. That alone was interesting, but then the costume began to change.

Fans returning to the Marvel booth, which includes a massive costume collection for characters in the upcoming Doomsday film, discovered the Latverian Witch was still there, only slightly different. Yesterday, the costume was swapped for a yellow variant. Today, the costume is purple. With Marvel Studios' huge Hall H panel set for tomorrow, fans anticipate a fourth and final outfit change for the Latverian Witch. The change in colors suggests that there are actually multiple witches. But the question remains, who are they?

Fans have been asking that since the first Latverian Witch popped up at Comic-Con. As the characters have not appeared in the Doomsday trailer and fans only have the costumes to go on, theories abound with little verification. There are a couple major ideas, but they should be considered as something closer to hopes and dreams rather than actual possibilities for the film.

The first major theory is that the Latverian Witches are variants of MCU characters Doctor Doom has recruited into his service. Lots of names have been thrown around, but the biggest is Scarlet Witch, who died at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multliverse of Madness. The theory argues that the Scarlet Witch does magic and Doom has a history of using magic in the comics. That's about it. Another theory suggests that somehow the Witches have a connection to the Infinity Stones. This is largely based on the three colors we have seen so far, which correlate to three Infinity Stone colors. Again, this is really all there is to the theory.

There is also the very real possibility that the Latverian Witches are nothing more than nameless supporting characters with really cool designs. So don't get your hopes up that any familiar faces will be under those masks. Marvel will reveal more about Avengers: Doomsday and the future of the MCU during its Hall H panel on July 25, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. PT.

CoD: MW4 DLC Honors Real-Life Medal Of Honor Recipient Who Lost His Eye And Teeth In Grenade Blast

Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will have day-one DLC, and like in years past, it will focus on a real-life military hero, with proceeds going to charity. The Call of Duty Endowment Valor Pack, launching on October 23 alongside the game, adds the real-life Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter to the game as a playable character. Carpenter was in Marjah, Afghanistan, when, on November 21, 2010, he put himself in front of a grenade to help save the life of his fellow Marine, Nick Eufrazio. Carpenter sustained serious injuries from the grenade blast. He was unconscious for five weeks, had his teeth stripped from his mouth, and lost an eye. He sustained numerous other life-threatening injuries in the blast. Carpenter received the Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama in 2014. "No matter how wrecked your world gets, the world keeps spinning," Carpenter said in the video below. https://twitter.com/CODE4Vets/status/2090856990872650127 The Call of Duty Endowment is Activision's charity that supports military veterans and specifically helping soldiers find jobs after leaving the service. Proceeds from this new Valor Pack will benefit the endowment. There have been numerous other DLC packs for Call of Duty games supporting the endowment. A previous DLC pack for Black Ops 7 brought the real-life soldier Chris Cassidy to the game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/real-life-soldier-chris-cassidy-is-coming-to-call-of-duty-in-a-charity-bundle/1100-6539766/); he was among those hunting down Osama bin Laden immediately after 9/11, and then he became a NASA astronaut. Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, but the game's beta is going on right now for those who preordered the game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/cod-modern-warfare-4-aims-for-fast-and-fluid-movement-but-a-classic-mode-isnt-off-the-table/). An open beta for everyone will be held August 28-September 1.
