Watch God Of War Laufey Star Smash The Last Of Us Golf Club Prop On Her First Day

Deborah Ann Woll plays Faye in the upcoming PS5 game God of War Laufey(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/god-of-war-laufey-gameplay-release-date-and-everything-we-know-so-far/), and she had quite a memorable first day on set. At San Diego Comic-Con recently, she shared a story about how, on her very first day, she broke a famous prop from The Last of Us due to her strength and tenacity--only she didn't know the significance at the time. And now, footage of the event has arrived. "Unbeknownst to me, this was a very famous prop that they had used on The Last of Us," she said, going on to joke that it was "some sort of sporting equipment." It was actually a golf club prop, and you probably know what that means... "They gave it to me and I was supposed to use it like an axe. And I broke it," Woll said. Game director Ariel Lawrence added, "She swung it so hard, it cracked. And it echoed throughout the volume. And we were like, 'Hot damn, let's go.'" https://twitter.com/SonySantaMonica/status/2088280064974635337 God of War: Laufey is in the works now for PS5, and it's arriving in February 2027(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/surprise-god-of-war-laufey-has-a-release-date-and-its-kratos-led-sequel-has-been-announced/). Starring alongside Woll is The Boys actor Jack Quaid, who plays a gelatinous cube named Phranque(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/god-of-war-laufeys-phranque-is-far-from-just-a-cube/). A new Kratos-led game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/surprise-god-of-war-laufey-has-a-release-date-and-its-kratos-led-sequel-has-been-announced/) is coming after that, and it will pick up where Laufey left off(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/kratos-next-god-of-war-game-will-pick-up-where-laufey-leaves-off/).

Wolverine on the PS5 made me care about Marvel’s mutant for the first time

Wolverine on the PS5 made me care about Marvel’s mutant for the first time

Going into my demo of Marvel's Wolverine, I mainly wanted to try out the game's very bloody combat. And it is delightfully bloody. But after two-ish hours of slashing and stabbing (and parrying!) enemies with Wolverine's claws, I left surprised - despite no previous attachment to the character, I was deeply endeared to Logan himself. &8230;

PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium Games For August 2026 Includes Helldivers 2

Sony is set to reveal the next batch of games coming to the Game Catalog for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium in August, but we already know of one of them: Helldivers 2(https://www.gamespot.com/games/helldivers-2/). Developer Arrowhead announced that its hit action game about bringing Managed Democracy to other worlds will be available through the Game Catalog starting August 12. An influx of fresh recruits is perfect timing, as the Helldivers 2 community is being challenged to collectively eliminate 500 million enemies by August 18 to unlock four Helldiver PlayStation avatars. Today also marks the release of a new expansion within the co-op shooter, Devoid of Liberty. This new content will see players venture into the haunted abyss of the Void to destroy Illuminate spires and gateways, exterminate new threats, and gain new ranks along the way. As usual, the new titles will be added to the Game Catalog every few days throughout the month. PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Games for August 2026 !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Helldivers-2.jpg?w=636) Helldivers 2 - Helldivers 2 (PS5) - More to be announced soon PlayStation Plus Premium PS Classics - To be announced soon As a reminder, nine games will exit PlayStation Plus(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-plus-subscribers-have-9-games-to-finish-before-august-ends/) on August 18. Time is running out, so if you haven't checked out Dead Island 2, Harold Halibut, or Unicorn Overlord yet, you only have a few more days left to do so. You can also grab three games right now(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-plus-essential-free-games-for-july-2026/) through any tier of PlayStation Plus--Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, For the King 2, and CrossCode.

Wolverine-Themed PlayStation 5 Consoles And Controllers Drop In September

Wolverine-Themed PlayStation 5 Consoles And Controllers Drop In September

!Game Informer News(https://gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/08/11/d8df172a/marvelswolverine-limitededitionmarvelswolverinebundleandaccessoriesps50-10screenshot.jpg.webp) Marvel's Wolverine, one of the biggest games of the year, comes out it a little over a month. Today we learned it'll get the same treatment as PlayStation's other beloved first-party IP and launch alongside a limited edition PS5 console and controller. A bundle with a PS5 digital edition (there's no disc drive – more on that later), controller, and a game code for Marvel's Wolverine will be available starting September 15, the same day the game comes out. Check it out for yourself below. The console and controller feature a slashing design caused by Wolverine's iconic claws, and the console itself includes art of Wolverine's face. For those who already have a PS5, PlayStation is also selling console covers, which you can swap out for the system's base white plates (or whatever color you might have on there now). The covers will get an added color, Adamantium, which swaps out the yellow for silver, but while there are yellow covers for both the PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro, you can only get Adamantium for a PS5 pro. Controllers will come in both colors, however. The bundle and yellow controller will be available at "select retailers," but the console covers and silver controller are exclusive to PlayStation's online storefront(https://direct.playstation.com/en-us/). All of these products have, unsurprisingly, been affected by Sony's recent string of price increases for its physical hardware and accessories. Here's how much each item is going to cost: - PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle: - $649.99 US / £569.99 GBP/ €649.99 EUR / ¥96,980 JPY - DualSense Wireless Controller – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition: - $84.99 US / £74.99 GBP/ €84.99 EUR / ¥12,480 JPY - PlayStation 5 Console Covers – Battle Yellow Limited Edition: - $74.99 US / £64.99 GBP / €74.99 EUR / ¥9,980 JPY - PlayStation 5 Pro Console Covers – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition: - $74.99 US / £64.99 GBP/ €74.99 EUR / ¥9,980 JPY - PlayStation 5 Pro Console Covers –Marvel’s Wolverine Adamantium Limited Edition: - $74.99 US / £64.99 GBP / €74.99 EUR - DualSense Wireless Controller – Marvel’s Wolverine Adamantium Limited Edition: - $84.99 US / £74.99 GBP/ €84.99 EUR Of course, this all comes during a controversial time for PlayStation. Its decision to phase out physical disc releases(https://gameinformer.com/2026/07/01/playstation-will-cease-production-of-physical-discs-for-new-games-in-january-2028) starting in 2028 has frustrated fans around the world, and the comments of the video linked above are flooded with people complaining about the company's decision and the bundled console's lack of a disc drive. Even unrelated videos on the channel, like trailers for third-party games coming to PS5 have their comments full of people standing up for physical discs. At the same time, physical media is undeniably becoming more expensive to produce, and PlayStation has raised the price of its consoles and accessories twice in the last year – first last August(https://gameinformer.com/2026/03/27/sony-announces-playstation-5-and-portal-price-increases-coming-next-week), then this March(https://gameinformer.com/2025/08/20/sony-is-raising-the-price-of-every-playstation-5-model-tomorrow-august-21). For more Wolverine, you can check out this trailer showcasing Lady Deathstrike(https://gameinformer.com/2026/07/16/lady-deathstrike-faces-logan-in-new-marvels-wolverine-cinematic-trailer) or this interview revealing the game takes place before the X-Men exist(https://gameinformer.com/2026/07/22/insomniac-interview-reveals-marvels-wolverine-takes-place-when-the-x-men-dont-yet-exist). Marvel’s Wolverine Has Given Us Sony’s Best-Looking PS5 Ever

Marvel’s Wolverine Has Given Us Sony’s Best-Looking PS5 Ever

Marvel's Wolverine(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/marvels-wolverine-gameplay-platforms-and-everything-we-know/1100-6516081/) launches next month, and to celebrate, Sony has revealed a new limited-edition PS5 console and controller design inspired by the game. Dubbed the Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle and priced at $650, fans of the Marvel mutant can choose between a PS5 Digital Edition that comes with both a matching DualSense wireless controller and a download code for the game, or they can pick up the $75 console covers for their base model PS5 and the PS5 Pro. Sony says that these will be available through the PlayStation Direct store, as well as through select retailers starting September 15, the same day that Marvel's Wolverine launches. https://youtu.be/9KDStKJtMZY The design includes a striking yellow finish, as well as an illustration of Wolverine by Jock, the graphic artist who has worked on numerous comic books over the years and film projects like 2012's Dredd. His design includes exposed claw marks that reveal the PS5 console chassis, and the overall look is inspired by the "Battle Reborn" costume that Wolverine wears in the field. The $85 DualSense controller also ties into that aesthetic, and it will be available as a standalone purchase. "I wanted to show Wolverine at his fiercest for Marvel’s Wolverine Limited Edition PS5 Console bundle and accessories. I still draw all my artwork traditionally, so the opportunity to marry cutting-edge hardware with the energy and looseness of hand-drawn ink is incredibly exciting. I’m stunned by how well the console and accessories captured the raw energy of the drawing, bringing Wolverine to life in a completely unique way." !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Marvel-Wolverine-10.jpg?w=636) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Marvel-Wolverine-1.jpg?w=636) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Marvel-Wolverine-9.jpg?w=636) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Marvel-Wolverine-7.jpg?w=636) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Marvel-Wolverine-8.jpg?w=636) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Marvel-Wolverine-2.jpg?w=636) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Marvel-Wolverine-3.jpg?w=636) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Marvel-Wolverine-4.jpg?w=636) !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Marvel-Wolverine-5.jpg?w=636) If that design is a little too yellow for you, there's an alternate PS5 Pro console cover and DualSense controller that features the same illustration on a silver background, emulating the unbreakable adamantium that coats Wolverine's bones. It won't make your PS5 unbreakable since it's made out of plastic, so try to avoid stress-testing the cover. Compared to the PS4 generation, Sony has released far fewer limited-edition PS5 consoles. Most of these designs have also been very underwhelming, with the Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Ghost of Yotei editions being either very subtle with their designs or too flashy--with the sole exception being the classy PlayStation 30th anniversary PS5 consoles(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-30th-anniversary-kicks-off-with-nostalgic-ps5-themes-and-the-cranberries/1100-6528157/). In contrast, some of the limited-edition DualSense controllers featured incredible designs that perfectly balanced the unique identity of their video games with distinct designs. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/death-stranding-2-on-the-beach-ps5-limited-edition-dualsense-controller-restock/1100-6531400/), Marathon(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/marathon-dualsense-controller-preorder-guide/1100-6537489/), and Concord's DualSense controllers(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/sonys-new-limited-edition-ps5-controller-is-its-best-looking-one-so-far/1100-6525289/) stood out from the pack, and it's a shame that those designs never made it to PS5 consoles.

The Latest PS5 Boxes Come With A Pretty Bleak Warning

The Latest PS5 Boxes Come With A Pretty Bleak Warning

The writing is on the wall for PlayStation and its plans for an all-digital gaming future--or on the PlayStation 5 packaging, to be exact. With Sony ending the production of game discs(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/sony-confirms-playstation-disc-production-will-end-in-2028/) in January 2028, the PS5 manufacturer has reportedly begun to slap warning stickers on restocks of its console, informing consumers that games will only be available in a digital format 17 months from now. Spotted by YouTuber Behind the Games--who says the console was purchased by a "trusted source" they know--the sticker includes the following disclaimer: "From January 2028, newly released games on PlayStation will be available for purchase on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital format only. Discs for games released before January 2028 can continue to be played on this console." The sticker looks legitimate--and Behind the Games has uploaded a video of it(https://x.com/BehindTGames/status/2085343574548189195) since then--as the same text can be found on the listings for PS5 consoles through European Amazon storefronts(https://www.amazon.de/PlayStation-PS5-SLIM-V2-Playstation%C2%AE5/dp/B0FP2S1MNB?th=1), likely so that Sony can comply with consumer laws in that region. https://twitter.com/BehindTGames/status/2085059320694100095 The company's decision to no longer offer a physical version of PlayStation games has been met with significant backlash(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-disc-death-sends-the-internet-into-its-physical-media-defense-arc/) so far, with many users calling for a boycott of the company and constantly replying to social media posts with calls for Sony to reverse its decision. Despite the ongoing campaign, Sony is still moving ahead with its plans, with Sony CFO Lin Tao commenting on the backlash(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/sony-defends-going-digital-but-says-it-understands-players-love-of-physical-ps5-games/) during a Q&A session for investors this week. Tao acknowledged that the announcement had been met with "strong views," but she said that Sony would continue to "cautiously" proceed. The company has in recent months noted how the ratio between physical and digital game sales has only widened in recent years, and in the last quarter (covering April to June), 82% of its game sales(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/sony-latest-ps5-sales-data-shows-digital-pulling-even-further-ahead/) were digital.
