Halo: Campaign Evolved On PC Has A Hidden Feature You Need A Mod To Access

This week, PlayStation 5 players were able to join their Xbox and PC counterparts for the first time in Halo: Campaign Evolved(https://www.gamespot.com/?shadowgame=halo-campaign-evolved). Console gamers are able to use a classic Halo feature that the PC port seemingly lacks: split-screen co-op. However, a new PC mod restores access to this missing feature. A Halo: Campaign Evolved split-screen co-op mod was posted on Nexus Mods(https://www.pcgamer.com/games/halo/mod-activates-split-screen-support-in-halo-campaign-evolved-pc-thats-just-sitting-there-unused/) by user Jpurd. As noted by Jpurd, the mod doesn't do anything except unlock the local split-screen option that was already in the game. There are some drawbacks to this AI-created mod. It can only handle two players via split-screen mode even though the game can support 4-player co-op. Users also note that it only works if both players are using a controller, and the mod may be limited to Steam users. Anyone playing Campaign Evolved on PC Game Pass or who purchased a copy from the Microsoft Store may not be able to use the mod at all. The rollout of Campaign Evolved hit a snag last week when players who paid extra for early access on Xbox weren't able to jump into the game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/halo-players-on-xbox-who-paid-more-to-play-early-cant/) alongside PC and PS5 ahead of the official launch. Players were also upset about reports that they needed a PS Plus account to use split-screen co-op(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/halo-fans-can-relax-campaign-evolved-wont-require-ps-plus-for-split-screen/), but that turned out to not be the case. It's too soon to say how well Halo: Campaign Evolved will perform across all platforms, but the game's secret ending(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/halo-campaign-evolved-secret-ending-seems-to-tease-a-halo-2-remake/) appears to tease a remake of Halo 2 as well. In the meantime, players can use these codes to claim free armor sets(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/halo-campaign-evolved-codes-for-free-armor-sets/) in Campaign Evolved.

Capcom Says Onimusha: Way Of The Sword Being The ‘Pinnacle Of Swordplay Action Games’ Is What Success Looks Like After A 20-Year Gap🎮 Multi-platform

Capcom Says Onimusha: Way Of The Sword Being The ‘Pinnacle Of Swordplay Action Games’ Is What Success Looks Like After A 20-Year Gap

!Game Informer News(https://gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/07/15/a744e26e/380onimusha14.jpg.webp) The last time a new Onimusha game launched, it was 2006. But now, 20 years later(https://gameinformer.com/exclusive-interview/2026/07/20/why-2026-was-the-year-to-bring-onimusha-back-after-a-20-year-gap), Capcom is just months away from the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and as a fan of those previous games, I’m stoked – doubly so after playing the game for several hours and interviewing the developers for the latest Game Informer cover(https://gameinformer.com/cover-reveal/2026/07/21/cover-reveal-onimusha-way-of-the-sword), which subscribers can read right now(https://gameinformer.com/Onimusha). Given the 20-year gap between Way of the Sword and the last release before it, 2006’s Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, I was curious about what success for this new game even looks like to Capcom. !Game Informer News(https://gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/07/22/a8de4232/Tentacle%20Enemy.jpg.webp) An enemy from the first game alongside a similar enemy from Way of the Sword “We’ve built this game with the intention of essentially creating a new swordplay experience – the pinnacle of swordplay action games,” producer Akihito Kadowaki tells me. “Just releasing the game and it being cool for familiar players is not quite enough. We want this to be accessible to as many people as possible. So, for people who are not familiar with action games, we want them to feel they can jump in, explore, and enjoy this kind of game. We created the modular difficulty settings for that – we have story, we have action difficulty settings, and even between those, you can change the settings on a more granular scale. “Hopefully, we get as many people to enjoy the action and see the game through to the end because there are a lot of people that do pick up these kinds of games and then they can’t see them through to the end because they’re too difficult.” Kadowaki says that if the game can reach as many people as possible globally, introduce many new players to the action genre, and help them reach the end, the team would consider that a “big success for the series.” I was somewhat happy to hear this answer, specifically in how it’s void of any talk of sales numbers. I’m sure there are those at Capcom with sales targets in mind, but I hope the publisher-developer isn’t expecting Onimusha to compete with its other franchises just because Onimusha is also technically a franchise. With a 20-year gap between releases, Way of the Sword feels more like a new series than a continuation of one, though it’s definitely still an Onimusha game. !Game Informer News(https://gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2025/06/06/ed6b72ec/onimusha3.jpg.webp) To put some of what I mean in perspective, Resident Evil has surpassed 200 million units sold across its many games; Monster Hunter sits at 127 million copies sold; and Street Fighter at 59 million. Onimusha has just barely eclipsed 9 million, so if Capcom plans to compare it to the aforementioned heavy-hitters franchises, there’s no world where Way of the Sword lives up to expectations. I’ll be diving deeper into Capcom’s return to Onimusha as part of Game Informer’s month of Way of the Sword coverage. We’ll be publishing exclusive gameplay and behind-the-scenes videos (including a Rapid-Fire Interview) on the Game Informer YouTube channel(https://www.youtube.com/@gameinformer) as well. Keep an eye on the Onimusha: Way of the Sword coverage hub(https://gameinformer.com/Onimusha) so you don’t miss any of it. EA CEO Got A Huge Pay Increase While Company Laid Off Devs🎮 Multi-platform

EA CEO Got A Huge Pay Increase While Company Laid Off Devs

When Saudi Arabia's leveraged buyout of Electronic Arts(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ea-nearing-50-billion-deal-with-saudi-arabia-and-other-investors-to-go-private-report/1100-6535057/) is finalized, the newly private company won't have to release any financial documents to the public. In the meantime, EA's latest financial disclosure has revealed that CEO Andrew Wilson received a massive $30 million increase in his compensation this year, and he wasn't the only EA executive to reap the rewards. Per EA's report filed with the Security and Exchange Commission(https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/712515/000130817926000382/ea2026-10ka.htm), Wilson's compensation package in the previous fiscal year rose by $8 million to $38 million. That total includes bonus payments and stock options. The report also notes that Wilson's $38 million payout has a 305-1 ratio to the $126,612 annual total compensation received by EA's median employee. Another eye-opening fact uncovered in the report notes that Wilson only flies on private planes rather than commercial airliners. According to the filing, Wilson received this perk to ensue "his personal safety and that of his family based on threat intelligence." No particular threats were shared, but it was noted that Wilson's private flights extended to his personal use as well. The sky-high salaries of other EA execs was also shared, including the following individuals: President of EA Entertainment, Laura Miele -- $13.7 million Chief Financial Officer, Stuart Canfield -- $11.3 million Chief Legal Officer, Jake Schatz -- $8.4 million Chief People Officer, Mala Singh -- $8.3 million Like Wilson's compensation packages, these totals include bonus payments and stock options. The report goes on to tout EA's success in implementing its AI strategy and the financial performance of Battlefield 6 as company highlights. However, EA laid off staff from all four studios(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ea-reportedly-cuts-staff-at-battlefield-6-dev-after-games-massive-initial-success/1100-6538673/) under the Battlefield Studios banner earlier this year while characterizing the cuts as a realignment. Miele recently declared that the company's use of AI has led to a "real rise in creativity(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ea-exec-says-there-has-been-a-real-rise-of-creativity-after-developers-embraced-ai/)" among developers who have embraced it. EA's sale to Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund has also cleared a major hurdle(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ea-sale-to-saudi-arabia-clears-a-major-hurdle/) following approval of the European Commission. For now, the deal hasn't been closed yet.
