📱 Mobile, Multi-platformGuild Wars Reforged Will Be Free On Mobile, With A Catch
Guild Wars Reforged(https://www.gamespot.com/games/guild-wars-reforged/), the recent quasi-remaster of ArenaNet's 2005 MMORPG(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/guild-wars-reforged-isnt-quite-a-remaster-of-the-classic-mmo-but-its-close/1100-6536317/), is coming to mobile for free, though there is a catch if you don't already own the game on PC. The free mobile version of Guild Wars Reforged is slated to launch globally this summer for iOS and Android devices and will include the game's original Prophecies story campaign. However, that initial, free campaign will include ads. To unlock the game's additional campaigns and go ad-free, players will need to buy each campaign separately on PC for $7 (or in the case of the Eye of the North expansion and bonus mission pack, $10). There is a silver lining for those who already own Guild War Reforged. Those who have already purchased the PC version of the game can link their ArenaNet account to gain access to the complete, ad-free mobile version free of charge. Once accounts are linked, progress between the PC and mobile version will be synchronized between devices. Players on PC and mobile will play on the same servers, enabling cross-play between platforms. 📱 MobilePokémon Go reveals new Mewtwo Mega Evolutions to debut as part of Go Fest 2026
For Pokémon fans, it's been a bit of an up-and-down year. The physical TCG seems to now be actively inviting thievery on a level usually reserved for jewellery stores. But, in the digital realm, both Pokémon Go and TCG Pocket are going strong, including the upcoming Go Fest event later this year! For those not in the know, Pokémon GO Fest is one of, if not the, biggest events on the calendar for Niantic's smash-hit AR creature collector. And in this latest iteration, fans of the classic Pokémon Mewtwo are in for a treat, as this popular critter gets two new Mega Evolutions as part of the event! ... 📱 MobileThe Walking Dead: Aftermath is a survival roguelite set in the popular AMC franchise that's coming to iOS and Android this summer
As Will mentioned in last week's episode of the Pocket Gamer Podcast - where we talked about the 20-million milestone for Tiles Survive! - we need something else to survive against apart from hordes of the undead. But honestly, that's just us trying to sound hip and cool and smart, because really, nothing is more satisfying than eliminating zombies to stop them from feasting on your brain - which is why The Walking Dead: Aftermath is very much welcome. Set to launch on iOS and Android this summer, the survival strategy RPG thrusts you into the world of The Walking Dead with familiar faces such as Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Michonne fighting by your side. ... 📱 MobileGuild Wars to make its mobile debut with the launch of Guild Wars Reforged this summer
The great MMORPG wars of the 2000s produced many cult classics that sought to topple World of Warcraft from its throne. None succeeded, but while WoW has gone on to live something of a half-life, many still fondly recall its contemporaries, including Guild Wars! Now, for those of you who enjoyed this mid-2000s classic, you'll be able to take the Guild Wars experience on the go with you. Guild Wars Reforged resurrected the original with modern enhancements, and now it's set to make its way to mobile this summer! ... 📱 Mobile, Multi-platformHow Pragmata Made Me Reconcile With The Hardest Part Of Parenting
Pragmata is the latest in the lineage of quintessential "dad games." The everyman protagonist Hugh taking the naive young girl android Diana under his wing follows familiar trappings. It finds variation within that formula--Hugh and Diana's relationship is fairly sweet from the start rather than slowly warming up, and Hugh's own experiences with adoption inform his sense of responsibility to Diana. But the tropes are well-worn regardless. What struck me most in this telling, though, was how Pragmata explores the notion of growing up and how experiences can shape a person. 📱 MobilePokémon TCG Pocket's latest expansion, Pulsing Aura, arrives today
Following its announcement last week, Pokémon TCG Pocket's latest expansion, Pulsing Aura, is now available. As you've probably guessed by the name, it sees Lucario acting as the poster child, its Mega Evolution, specifically. And it's not particularly surprising, given the popularity of the bipedal dog. That said, I'm not a huge fan of the Mega variant. It has too many flowing elements and additional colours that make it look a little messy, in my opinion. Anyway, none of that's important. We're talking about a new expansion. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/pokemon-trading-card-game-pocket/pulsing-aura-release/)
📱 Mobile, Multi-platformMurderbot Diaries' Martha Wells says the next book is likely the last
Platform Decay, Martha Wells' eighth book about a cranky android, releases on May 5. Wells says the ninth Murderbot book might be the finale.
📱 MobileThe Rhymatory tests your rad rhymes across handcrafted puzzles and visuals
They had me at "whimsical, steampunk world" - this is exactly what the indie team behind The Rhymatory is calling their upcoming word puzzler, and I am all for it. The cosy brainteasers will land on iOS and Android on April 30th, and with more than 300 handcrafted riddles, I'd say it's well worth the $2.99 price tag for beginners and word puzzle aficionados alike. The sample riddle on the store page already had me properly stumped, mind you - so when they say something's a challenge, it seems like they very well mean it. Essentially, all you really have to do is think of the answer based on a pair of words that rhyme. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/the-rhymatory/announcement/)
📱 MobileAllfiring opens pre-registration for the anime-style RPG, offering dynamic combat and character switching on the fly
In a sea of saturated anime-style action RPGs, how do you stand out? In Allfiring's case, I suppose it's a simple matter of making the title too distinct, it's impossible not to take notice - and the fact that it made us look twice over here already means it might actually be working. Typical of the genre, you'll summon and recruit a colourful cast of characters to fight beside you on an epic fantasy journey, with plenty of dungeons, ruins, and what-have-yous along the way. From what I've seen from the trailer, it does seem to offer something interesting when it comes to its visuals, especially since it's got that adorable chibi look down pat. ... 📱 MobileTomb Busters is an upcoming horror or comedy adventure depending on how many co-op teammates you've got
While the visuals remind me a lot of NetEase's Identity V, that doesn't mean Tomb Busters can't hold its own - and with what I've seen from the trailer so far, it does look like it's got plenty of potential. It's effectively being marketed as a horror game when played all by your lonesome - which then evolves into an adventure with two people and a treasure hunt with three. The thing is, it's also being advertised as a comedy when played with four, and honestly, that kind of positioning really makes it stand out in the market, in my opinion. The highlight here is obviously its co-op gameplay, which I really do appreciate given how much of a scaredy-cat I am. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/tomb-busters/announcement/)
📱 MobileReplicat comes to mobile with Balatro-like memory-matching mechanics
While it may remain the gold standard for its genre, I think we've begun to see the rumblings of a revolt against Balatro and its vast array of inspired twists on the formula. Roguelite, deckbuilder, however you want to term it, they're undoubtedly cropping up like, well, roguelite deckbuilders. Certainly, Replicat does little to dispel the notion that this is a growing (perhaps even overcrowded) genre. But that doesn't necessarily mean there's anything wrong with it either. Replicat is a relatively straightforward memory-matching card game, where you match up pictures of cats to score points. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/replicat/coming-to-mobile/)
📱 MobileHyke: Northern Light(s) free A Witch's Chill Time update is set to come to mobile
It's a busy day here at Pocket Gamer. Well, I say that, but for me, I'm waiting for my flight to Gamescom LatAm (more reporting on that coming soon). So, while I have the time, I decided to hop back into the news cycle for the day and cover some of what's been happening for mobile, specifically the latest free update for Hyke: Northern Light(s). If you're not already familiar with Hyke, here's a brief primer. This JRPG sees you stepping into the shoes of the titular Hyke, a young witch on the search for her mother. Aided by other witches known as Meteos, you'll explore a vast world while battling your way through bosses and enemies, engaging in all manner of cosy activities that earned a thumbs-up from Jack. ...
