🎮 PlayStation, Xbox, Multi-platformCall Of Duty: Warzone Is Dying On PS4 And Xbox One
As part of the announcement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/infinity-ward-makes-key-improvements-to-the-formula-with-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4/) today, Activision also confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone is going away on legacy platforms. Starting with MW4 Season 1 (which itself is expected "shortly" after the game releases on October 23), Warzone will no longer be playable on PS4 and Xbox One. The game itself will be delisted for new downloads on those platforms on June 4, though anyone who still has the game can keep playing. Items like Call of Duty Points bundles will be removed on PS4 and Xbox One as well. Then on June 25, the in-game store for Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One will be removed. Players will still be able to progress through the free Battle Pass, however. People playing Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One who hold a Call of Duty Points balance when the game closes aren't completely out of luck. That's because content purchased with Call of Duty Points is connected to your Activision account, so as long as you're playing with the same account, your currency balance and purchased content should still be there. You can visit Activision's support page(https://support.activision.com/warzone-2/articles/warzone-platform-update) to get more specifics about this. Activision also announced that when MW4 Season 1 launches, content from that game will begin to appear in Warzone. Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2. An open beta is coming ahead of launch, and you can get in early(https://www.gamespot.com/?posttype=articles&p=1770153&preview=true&thumbnailid=1770172).
🖥 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PC, Multi-platformCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is out in October, and it’s coming to the Switch 2
Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and says the game will launch on October 23rd, 2026. Modern Warfare 4, which is developed by Infinity Ward, will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X / S, PC - and it will also be the first Call of Duty title to launch on &8230;
🎮 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Multi-platformCall Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Release Date Is A Month Before GTA 6, Won’t Be On Game Pass
Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and it's being released slightly earlier than some might expect. MW4 is set for launch on Friday, October 23 across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2. That's 27 days before GTA 6 releases on November 19. For comparison, 2025's Black Ops 7 launched on November 14. An October release date for a new Call of Duty game is not unprecedented, of course, as 2024's Black Ops 6 launched on October 25. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Screenshot-2026-05-28-at-10.17.42-AM-1.png) Given the enormous hype and unprecedented demand for GTA 6, game companies are generally avoiding launching new titles near the game. GTA 6 is currently the only major new release set to launch on November 19(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/2026-upcoming-games-release-schedule/1100-6534941/november). Not on Game Pass Another notable development for MW4 is that it will not be available on Xbox Game Pass. As Microsoft announced previously, new Call of Duty games are no longer included with Game Pass(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/game-pass-gets-price-drop-new-call-of-duty-games-no-longer-included/1100-6539523/), and instead won't come to the subscription program for about a year. This is part of a new "windowing" strategy whereby Microsoft excludes certain key games from Game Pass at launch. MW4 will, however, be available on Nintendo Switch 2. That's notable because the Call of Duty series hasn't shown up on a Nintendo platform since 2013. MW4's development is being led by Infinity Ward, the studio that created the sub-brand. The game's campaign puts players in the boots of the rookie soldier Private Park, with the story centering on the Korean peninsula. MW4 brings back multiplayer, of course, as well as the DMZ mode.
🎮 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Multi-platformCall Of Duty Is Finally Returning To One Hugely Popular Platform
Activision has skipped Nintendo platforms for Call of Duty for more than a decade, as the last CoD release on a Nintendo platform was a port of Call of Duty: Ghosts for Wii U in 2013. That is changing this year, though, as Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will come to Switch 2 at launch on October 23(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-release-date-is-close-to-gta-6-wont-be-on-game-pass/). It'll debut that day alongside the game's other versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game is not coming to last-gen consoles. The new Call of Duty game showing up on Switch 2 is not a surprise, but instead the realization of a promise that Microsoft made years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLbst85USN8 In 2023, amid the FTC vs. Microsoft court case, Microsoft said it had signed(https://x.com/BradSmi/status/1629180356359495680) a “binding 10-year legal agreement to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo players.” The statement said Microsoft would launch Call of Duty on Nintendo platforms “the same day as Xbox, with full features and content parity.” 2024's Black Ops 6 and 2025's Black Ops 7 did not come to Switch 2, prompting many to wonder if Microsoft and Activision were actually going to follow through on the promise. In June 2025, Activision released a statement saying it was committed to bringing Call of Duty to Switch 2(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-is-still-coming-to-switch-apparently/1100-6532276/). A report from December 2025 said Call of Duty's release on Switch 2 was imminent(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-is-finally-coming-to-switch-soon-report/1100-6537145/). The Switch 2 version of Modern Warfare 4 is developed by Infinity Ward in partnership with Digital Legends. It is a native version for Switch 2. It remains to be seen if the Switch 2 edition of Modern Warfare 4 has any differences compared to the game's other editions. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Screenshot-2026-05-28-at-10.17.58-AM.png) While Modern Warfare 4 is coming to Switch 2, Activision has not said if the popular Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale game is coming to Switch 2. Keep checking back with GameSpot for more. Modern Warfare 4's story is centered on the Korean Peninsula, with players taking on the role of Private Park, a young Korean grunt soldier(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-puts-you-in-the-boots-of-a-grunt/) who is entering combat for the first time. The campaign is described as a "zero-to-hero" story. A familiar Modern Warfare character, Captain Price, returns in the campaign, which will take players beyond Korea to places like New York, Paris, and Mumbai. Beyond the campaign, Modern Warfare 4 brings back multiplayer(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/infinity-ward-makes-key-improvements-to-the-formula-with-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4/), of course, with 12 brand-new 6v6 maps coming at launch. The DMZ mode returns as well. Call of Duty has a long, strange history on Nintendo platforms(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-has-a-long-strange-history-on-nintendo-consoles/1100-6509800/).
🎮 PlayStation, Xbox, Multi-platformMarathon Is Going Free-To-Play, But Not For Long
With a new season starting soon, Bungie is offering Marathon(https://www.gamespot.com/games/marathon/) at its best price yet next week: free. For the low price of nothing, anyone interested in checking out the extraction shooter on PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S can grab a free trial for the game starting June 2 and running through June 9, with progress carrying over if they decide to drop $40 on it. PS5 players won't need a PS Plus subscription to go online, either. With Marathon sales reportedly not being as great as Bungie hoped for and player numbers being modest at best, this might be the best chance for the developer to introduce people to the game. The June 2 date also coincides with the start of Marathon's second season, which will add the new Night Marsh zone, a new Sentinel Runner shell, and more deadly hardware. The important thing to note is that a new season also means that player inventories are wiped, leveling the playing field(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/marathons-first-wipe-is-just-a-few-weeks-away-heres-what-carries-over/1100-6539926/). This means that you won't have to worry about running into fellow Runners equipped with top-tier loot at the start of the season. Other updates coming in the season include the Cradle, a new system that will let you level up your Runner shell stats without needing to worry too much about faction progression, increased faction progression speed, a larger Vault, and several quality-of-life changes. If you're curious, Marathon is worth trying out as Bungie has put its own fresh spin on the extraction shooter genre. https://youtu.be/a1i801SDrJA "Bungie's slick extraction shooter is great at creating tense battles, incredible highs, and painful lows, with a future that's full of promise," Phil Hornshaw wrote in GameSpot's Marathon review(https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/marathon-review-in-progress-incredible-highs-painful-lows/1900-6418472/). Marathon appears to be Bungie's main priority for now, as the studio recently announced that Destiny 2 will receive one final content update(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/destiny-2-is-getting-last-content-update-soon-as-bungie-moves-onto-its-next-big-game/1100-6540084/) in June. While the server lights will remain on for the foreseeable future, this update will serve as an epilogue of sorts to the live-service game, just when its story was starting to get good(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/destiny-2-is-ending-just-as-its-story-started-to-get-good/). 'Significant" layoffs are also expected to follow(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/report-claims-significant-layoffs-are-incoming-for-bungie-as-destiny-2-ends/) now that Destiny 2 is being sunset, but Bungie has confirmed that it is also developing several ideas for future games. 7 Marathon Beginner Tips To Help You Survive On Tau Ceti !4661193-hat7ja9rjtkdpwvu8vbtid.jpg(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661193-hat7ja9rjtkdpwvu8vbtid.jpg?w=1024) !4661195-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-18.04.15.97.png(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661195-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-18.04.15.97.png?w=1024) !4661196-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-14.02.56.02.png(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661196-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-14.02.56.02.png?w=1024) !4661200-marathon.exescreenshot2026.03.02-10.52.41.35.png(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661200-marathon.exescreenshot2026.03.02-10.52.41.35.png?w=1024) !4661198-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-18.03.56.84.png(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661198-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-18.03.56.84.png?w=1024) !4661199-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-14.03.08.45.png(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661199-marathonserverslamscreenshot2026.02.26-14.03.08.45.png?w=1024) !4661201-2026marathonserverslampressk.jpg(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/original/1745/17457013/4661201-2026marathonserverslampressk.jpg?w=1024) View Images(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/7-marathon-beginner-tips-to-help-you-survive-on-tau-ceti/2900-7557/)

🖥 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, PC, Multi-platformThe golden age of handheld gaming is already over
For a few glorious years, a $399 portable gadget could run almost anything you'd want to play. In 2022, the Steam Deck finally made PC gaming portable and affordable. I played through the vast majority of Elden Ring on a Steam Deck, agape that such a rich world could comfortably fit between my two hands. &8230;
🎮 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Multi-platformThe Witcher 3 Is Dropping Windows 10 Support For Its New DLC, And Fans Aren’t Happy
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting a third story expansion in 2027, more than 12 years after the game's original release. 2015 was a long, long time ago, and gaming hardware has drastically changed since-- so much so that CD Projekt Red is updating the recommended specifications for The Witcher 3, dropping Windows 10 support in the process. The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past will be skipping PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, which makes the slight change to the minimum requirements for PC(https://support.cdprojektred.com/en/witcher-3/pc/sp-technical/issue/2973/upcoming-changes-to-minimum-requirements-for-the-witcher-3-wild-hunt) understandable. The game will still be able to run on GPUs with less than 6GB of VRAM and 12GB of RAM. The requirement for an SSD over older hard drives might be tough if you haven't upgraded yet, especially with current prices, but is likely one you would've made a while ago. What is slightly alarming is the shift towards making Windows 11 a requirement, which hasn't gone down well with the PC community. "Mandatory Windows 11? Really? Either CDPR got a fat check from MicroSlop, or they don't give a sht about players at all," reads one thread on the Witcher 3 subreddit(https://www.reddit.com/r/Witcher3/comments/1tp5i1b/soaboutnewpcrequirements/) just a few hours after the expansion announcement. Many PC gamers are still on Windows 10 for various reasons, be it improved performance over the bloated Windows 11 or the inability to upgrade given the hardware requirements for the new operating system. Although The Witcher 3 now specifies Windows 11 in its minimum requirements, this does not mean that the game won't run at all on earlier versions of the OS. Instead, as CD Projekt Red clarified later, it means that the studio won't support or test the game on Windows 10 going forward. This isn't a decision CD Projekt Red is making in a vacuum. Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 10 in late 2025, with the company ceasing security updates as it prioritises Windows 11 upgrades. Nvidia is also expected to stop releasing GPU drivers for Windows 10(https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/aid/5695/~/geforce-support-plan-for-windows-10) later this year, and before the launch of Songs of the Past, which will likely have a discernible effect on the game's performance on your system. "In short, this change does not mean that the game will not run on Windows 10," a post on The Witcher 3 forums(https://forums.cdprojektred.com/index.php?threads/a-note-on-windows-10-support-from-the-player-experience-director.11142322/) concludes. "It means we cannot ensure that it will. Our goal is not to take something away from you. Our goal is to give you what is best the best way we can." CD Projekt Red says that players will be able to revert to the current version of The Witcher 3 at any point, if newer updates make the game unplayable on Windows 10. The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past is expected to launch in 2027, with more details coming later in the summer.
