Wolverine Gameplay Demo Violence Makes It Look Like Mortal Kombat

State of Play(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-state-of-play-june-2026-all-the-biggest-announcements-and-games/) made its return today, and just as Sony promised, it kicked things off with a fresh--and brutal--look at Marvel's Wolverine(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/marvels-wolverine-gameplay-platforms-and-everything-we-know/1100-6516081/) from Insomniac. Game director Marcus Smith outlined the story, which centers on Wolverine attempting to save a group of kidnapped mutants from an extremist group called the Reavers. From there, we saw a lengthy chunk of gameplay as Wolverine infiltrated, and then eviscerated, a sprawling camp of bad guys. After seeing Leech being loaded into a truck, Wolverine slices through a steel beam to create a chain reaction that brings down a shipping container on the villains, and then he's joined by Jean Grey, who helps hold the Reavers in place while Wolverine does what he does best. At what point she even telekinesis-throws a bad guy into his claws. It's pretty gnarly! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiBoNgYI5Q The truck starts to get away, so Wolverine gives chase in a nearby motorcycle, using it to jump atop the moving caravan and leap from truck to truck, playing pin cushion with the baddies. Frankly the last one should just see what he did to their friends and give up, but they never do. One notable element throughout the trailer is that the Reavers seem to be augmented with cybernetic parts. Many of them have prosthetic limbs and the big-bad leading the caravan has cyborg arms that can go hand-to-hand with Wolverine's claws. The final sizzle reel teased lots of other characters like Omega Red, Mystique, Sabretooth, and Ogun. An update on the PlayStation Blog(https://blog.playstation.com/2026/06/02/marvels-wolverine-new-gameplay-story-details-from-state-of-play/) noted that Logan can hit a higher tier level in his Rage meter than we saw in the demo, which creates a visual effect inspired by the Black, White, and Blood series of Marvel comics. It also noted that Wolverine will feature a large array of accessibility options. As the new gameplay showed, Insomniac is aiming to deliver a mature and darker experience(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/marvels-wolverine-will-be-full-sized-and-mature-in-tone/1100-6496210/) when compared to its work on the Spider-Man games. Wolverine isn't exactly known for treating his enemies with kid gloves, and this new footage highlighted how Marvel's famous mutant will hack and slash his way(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/marvels-wolverine-trailer-reveals-2026-release-window-and-very-bloody-gameplay/1100-6532076/) through the opposition. At the same time, the developer has also teased that it'll be digging deep into the core of Logan and what makes him tick. Australian actor Liam McIntyre provides the voice and motion-capture acting of the character, and he said that his performance will reveal the "essence" of the character. Marvel's Wolverine launches on September 15 for PS5. PlayStation State Of Play June 2026: All The Biggest Announcements And Games🎮 PlayStation, Multi-platform

PlayStation State Of Play June 2026: All The Biggest Announcements And Games

Ahead of Summer Game Fest 2026(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/every-video-game-showcase-to-watch-in-2026/2900-7446/), PlayStation is hosting its next State of Play to showcase what its first-party studios and select third-party developers have cooking up in 2026 and beyond for the PlayStation 5. The 60-minute event should be filled to the brim with announcements of new games and updated looks at previously revealed titles--don't know about y'all but I have my finger's crossed for more info on Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine and Ember Lab's Kena: Scars of Kosmora. We'll be watching the showcase alongside everyone else, so if you miss an announcement or two, or can't tune in to watch the State of Play, you can find all the biggest announcements right here. With each new trailer and reveal, we'll be updating this round-up and linking to where you can find more information. Marvel's Wolverine !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Screenshot-2026-06-01-124012-1.png?w=1024) The showcase kicked off with a new look at Marvel's Wolverine, the upcoming superhero action game from Insomniac. The new gameplay trailer detailed how the studio has evolved the combo- and counter-focused combat of its Marvel's Spider-Man series to be a lot faster and less "punchy," making for a gaming experience that looks a whole lot more violent than Peter Parker and Miles Morales' adventures. It's a fitting shift for the titular mutant. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls To keep the Marvel hype going, the showcase next revealed a new gameplay trailer for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. The trailer focused on notable Marvel villains, with gameplay for Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage as they fought against heroes like Storm and Spider-Man. Rayman Legends Retold Up next, we got an announcement and gameplay reveal for Rayman Legends Retold, an upcoming remake of Rayman Legends. The remake adopts a 3D art style and adds a brand-new villain, story, and levels. It's scheduled to launch on October 1. Bancho The Chef The announcement and gameplay trailer for Bancho the Chef is a nice surprise. The game is a direct prequel to Dave the Diver, focusing on the titular Bancho, a cook who aids Dave in his game. The game seems to explore the cooking process and running a restaurant through multiple minigames, capturing the hectic pressure of the lifestyle by testing you on precision and timing. Kemuri Ikumi Nakamura's next game was up next in the showcase. In Kemuri, you play as a demon hunter and unleash what look to be devastating combos in supernatural fights that take place across an entire cityscape. The game will support three-player co-op and is scheduled to come out in 2027. Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis The new gameplay trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis offered our first look at Lara Croft's upcoming action-adventure. The game looks a whole lot like the reboot trilogy, but with a greater focus on Lara's over-the-top antics and physical attractiveness--staples of the original games. The game is sadly being delayed. The Lost Wild Up next was The Lost Wild, an upcoming first-person stealth game that looks straight-up like something from the Jurassic Park universe. In it, you play as a woman as she carefully makes her way through an abandoned nature reserve and the corresponding facilities as she does her best to elude the notice of dinosaurs and other forms of once-extinct prehistoric life. Silent Hill Townfall This game looks like it was made specifically for the people who adored Firewatch, as the new gameplay trailer focused on one man slowly making his way through a space while being tethered to other people through a hand radio. Obviously, however, with this being a Silent Hill game, things get way creepier than Firewatch. Ace Combat 8: Wings Of Theve In an interesting shift, the next Ace Combat is putting you behind the eyes of the game's protagonist. Shifting into a first-person perspective for all gameplay both in and outside the cockpit, Ace Combat 8 looks to put a greater emphasis on the story of your pilot and those they fly with for a campaign that feels more personal. Stuntman Hollywood From the sky to the pavement: the next trailer showcased gameplay for the upcoming racer, Stuntman Holiwood. The trailer focused on police chases, acrobatic stunts, and all-around mayhem, with even the time-traveling Delorean making an appearance. The game focuses on performing stunts for Hollywood movies. Ill The reveal for Ill revealed we'll be playing as a man who awoke from a coma to find himself in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. The first-person shooter is set to launch in 2027. Control Resonant This was a bizarre trailer for an interesting-looking experience... which describes the world of Control very well. This sequel adopts a new protagonist, new gameplay, and a new setting, but still deals with weird stuff happening to people just trying to make it through the workday. Marathon: Nightfall Up next, we got a new story trailer for Marathon which goes into what players can expect to experience in the upcoming season. The trailer was very creepy and dark, almost leaning into a horror-y vibe as it showcased the new zone and new shell. Until Dawn 2 You the know the drill of how these games go and look. And this one is the sequel to the game that started it all! This is the very first look at the upcoming story-driven adventure where your bad choices will inevitably lead to characters' deaths and good choices will only leave them traumatized from the ordeal.

"By linking your account, you will be able to share save files across platforms and continue your journey on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox," the roadmap reads. - Re-Blockade Update: Pearl Abyss writes in the roadmap that a new phase for Re-Blockade is being developed to "make the flow before and after a blockade more natural, along with ways to defend certain strongholds from the threat of invasion." It also says the rewards will be improved to make liberating strongholds feel more rewarding. - Damiane and Oongka Gameplay Improvements:Pearl Abyss is working on improving the overall gameplay experience for Damiane and Oongka experiences in Crimson Desert, noting that "various adjustments will be made so that all three playable characters can get a share of the spotlight." - Quality of Life Improvements for Non-Combat Content: The roadmap reads, "We will continue making improvements to non-combat content, such as trading and farming, to address areas that players have found inconvenient." And if you missed out on the Steam Next Fest demo(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/02/26/check-out-these-steam-next-fest-demos-picked-by-the-game-informer-staff) for it earlier this year, good news: a new demo(https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/EP4389-PPSA3748600-ETERNALGOLDMDEMO/) featuring 90 minutes of gameplay for The Eternal Life of Goldman went live today on PlayStation 5 – we can't recommend it enough! The gorgeous hand-drawn visuals of The Eternal Life of Goldman will surely catch your attention, but there's also a really great DuckTales-inspired platformer in there, too, with the titular Goldman pogo-ing around colorful stages like Scrooge McDuck. Unlike its inspirations, though, the team at Weappy Studio has promised a story full of heart (and some terrifying scenes, too), and you can read more about that in Game Informer's exclusive behind-the-scenes preview here(https://www.gameinformer.com/feature/2026/04/07/a-labor-of-love). Here's a look at The Eternal Life of Goldman demo on PS5: There's no release date for The Eternal Life of Goldman yet, but it's due to drop on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime this year. Brutal First-Person Horror Game ILL Still Looks Terrifying In New Story Trailer

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/84ac5913/illscreen2026.jpg.webp) Team Clout once again revealed its first-person horror game Ill during today's State of Play. To the surprise of no one who has kept up with the game since its original reveal last summer(https://gameinformer.com/sgf-2025/2025/06/06/ill-is-a-survival-horror-game-made-by-people-who-worked-on-longlegs-it), it looks as gruesome as ever. Today's trailer showed a bit more story, with the protagonist exploring a fort overtaken by some type of evil entity. The facility is filled with horrors ranging from infant-like creatures to hallway-filling monstrosities. Today's trailer is definitely not for the faint of heart, but feel free to give yourself some nightmare fuel by giving it a watch. Ill has no release date but it's coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Empulse Is A 6v6 Titanfall 2-Like FPS From The Splitgate Devs

!Empulse Titanfall 2 Shooter FPS 6v6 Splitgate Devs 1047 Games Early Access(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/fa72cba5/empulse11.jpeg.webp) Splitgate(https://www.gameinformer.com/2025/12/04/splitgate-2-has-been-rebooted-as-splitgate-arena-reloaded-and-it-relaunches-this-month) developer 1047 Games has released the first-ever cinematic trailer for Empulse(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/empulse-early-access), its in-development 6v6 first-person shooter, and it sure does remind us of Titanfall 2(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/titanfall-2), but that's by design because the team is not hiding its inspiration. The game is set to launch into Early Access sometime in the future, though it doesn't specify on which platforms. However, you can wishlist the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam, so it's presumably at least going to be playable there. The cinematic trailer gives a quick look at this neo-futuristic world where Empulse's first-person shooting action takes place, and of course, there are grapple hooks, wall-running, jump pads, and mechs. Alongside this cinematic trailer, released yesterday, 1047 Games says it will reveal the first-ever look at Empulse gameplay on Sunday, June 7, during the PC Gaming Show (just one of the many Summer Games Fest-adjacent showcases(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/05/19/the-2026-summer-showcase-schedule)). Check out the Empulse cinematic reveal trailer for yourself below: 1047 Games describes Empulse as a "fast-paced 6v6 movement shooter set in the post-utopian streets of Freehold," where wall-running, grappling, holojumps, and more form the foundation of every fight and "where player-controllable mechs become the most contested objective." The team also makes clear that Empulse is directly inspired by Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall series. "Our dream has always been to be a multi-game studio, and this is the kind of game we love making: a fast, arcade-style FPS gameplay that rewards player expression and skill," a post on X(https://x.com/PlayEmpulse/status/2061508486295704027) from the studio reads. "That is the type of gameplay we love, and Empulse is the purest version of that idea we have built so far. We have a lot of Titanfall fans on this team, and we have heard a lot of the same from our community over the years. More movement. More verticality. More ways to express yourself in a fight. Empulse is our answer to that." In Empulse, you can wall-run forward and backward, use a grappling hook to swing and close gaps, and jump via holojumps to experience a snowboard-like sensation of momentum. You can also deploy Plasma Activated Infusion of Nano-Tech (P.A.I.N.T.). Bombs to make different surfaces behave in unique ways that include speed and jump boosts, new lines that didn't exist prior to the deployment, and more. Here are some additional Empulse screenshots: The studio says mechs are the "true power spike" in Empulse, adding that they change the energy of a match the second they arrive. "Instead of being something every player calls in throughout each game, mechs spawn on the map as the most powerful objective in the match, and your crew has to fight for control of them," the post on X reads. "Think of it like fighting over the rocket launcher in classic Halo, except this rocket launcher walks, has unique abilities, and a massive health pool." Empulse is expected to launch into Early Access sometime this year. Do you think this features the right Titanfall vibes? Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Delayed To August Following Playtests And Player Feedback

!Hell Let Loose Vietnam Expression Games Team 17 August Release Date(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/05/14/ba536fd1/hllvscreenshot2.jpg.webp) Publisher Team17 and developer Expression Games have delayed Hell Let Loose: Vietnam(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/hell-let-loose-vietnam), its quasi-sequel to WW2 shooter Hell Let Loose(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/hell-let-loose), to August 13 following feedback from players in recent open betas and in internal playtests. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam was originally due out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on June 18(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/05/14/hell-let-loose-vietnam-gets-june-release-date-open-beta-later-this-month), but will now launch roughly two months later on those same platforms. "We have been so excited watching you share your experiences and seeing the great videos from our War Correspondents and being able to receive and implement your important feedback throughout both our Closed and Open Betas," a press release reads. "In addition to your feedback, we have also been carrying out intensive internal playtests for both the PC and console versions of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, and we have identified several areas where additional development time will allow us to deliver a stronger launch experience. "Therefore, after careful consideration, we have decided to delay the launch to August 13. This will ensure that Hell Let Loose: Vietnam launches at the quality level we expect and you deserve." The most recent open beta started May 29 and ended June 1, but closed betas were held before that. It seems that feedback from those betas, alongside feedback from internal playtests, has helped Expression Games identify areas for improvement, and the team is taking extra time to shore up the loose ends.
