Developers Cold Iron Studios and Daybreak Game Company revealed the news with an exclusive trailer over at IGN(https://www.ign.com/articles/aliens-fireteam-elite-2-announced-pc-ps5-xbox), which reveals returning Xenomorphs, weapons, and more, with one big new addition: a fourth party member. Unlike its predecessor, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is not a trio-based third-person shooter but instead, a four-player party shooter. The game will support crossplay across all playable platforms and feature new Xenomorph types, player classes (including the Specialist, which IGN describes as a "fully customizable class that lets you mix and match abilities from any class"), and more. The publication writes that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will include a Horde mode, too. 🎮 PlayStation, Xbox, Multi-platformAliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Revealed, And You Can Almost Hear The Motion Tracker Already
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 has officially been revealed by developers Cold Iron Studios and Daybreak Game Company, marking a return to a galaxy infested with perfect organisms. A direct sequel to the 2021 game, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is aiming for a Summer 2026 release, and it's headed to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S--possibly out of the walls. While the core third-person PvE shooter gameplay has been retained for the sequel, one of the big changes is that your fireteam of Colonial Marines is expanding from three to four players. According to IGN(https://www.ign.com/articles/aliens-fireteam-elite-2-announced-pc-ps5-xbox), the game will feature full cross-play support, new Xenomorph types, and improvements to the player classes. Players can also fine-tune a Specialist class by mixing abilities to create a versatile Marine, and Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will launch with a dedicated Horde mode. The first Aliens: Fireteam Elite game received mostly positive reviews when it first launched, with critics praising it for its gung-ho action, well-polished multiplayer design, and the Challenge Card system that kept the experience consistently fresh and rewarding. Post-launch DLC would further expand on the game, adding new story beats and gameplay features that amplified the intensity of the experience. 🟩 Xbox, Multi-platformNext-Gen Xbox Project Helix Won't Get Much New Info In Today's Event, Exec Says
Xbox's Jason Ronald, who leads the team working on the Projext Helix(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/next-xbox-release-date-specs-display-price/1100-6525379/) next-generation PC/console hybrid device, has confirmed that more details about the machine will be revealed this year. He didn't say when exactly, but one possibility is the Xbox Games Showcase in June(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/every-video-game-showcase-to-watch-in-2026/2900-7446/). He confirmed this(https://x.com/jronald/status/2052403448398909450) in response to people wondering if the Project Helix developer-focused event today, May 7, would include more news about the device. As Microsoft said when the event was announced on April 30(https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/games/articles/2026/04/announcing-the-xbox-game-dev-update-spring-2026/), it will be a recap of the announcements from GDC and is focused on presenting this information to developers. Ronald is trying to manage expectations here by telling fans this is not a news event aimed at consumers. In any event, if you want to watch, you can, as the Xbox Game Dev Update will be published on YouTube(https://www.youtube.com/@MicrosoftGameDev/featured) at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. Ronald and Xbox general manager Chris Carla will walk through the Project Helix announcements from GDC in March and discuss "what it represents for the future of Xbox." 🟩 Xbox, Multi-platformStranger Than Heaven Is A Yakuza Prequel With A Star-Studded Cast
Stranger than Heaven has been garnering plenty of interest since its debut at 2024's The Game Awards as Project Century. While other short teaser trailers have been shown since, today we got our first look at the broader game in the Xbox Presents: A Special Look at Stranger than Heaven(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0R3m9woviA) presentation. We now have a more concrete look at what Stranger than Heaven is, how it plays, what sort of story it tells, and how it potentially leads into the greater Yakuza/Like A Dragon series. That last bit's not really a spoiler, either, considering that Yakuza's Tojo Clan is mentioned in the very first scene we saw. Stranger than Heaven follows the life of Makoto Daito (voiced and modeled after actor Yu Shirota), a youth born to an American father and a Japanese mother. When his father passes away, he finds himself an outcast in early-1915 America. Makoto stows away aboard a vessel in a San Francisco harbor bound for Japan, where he believes he may be able to be accepted--beginning a saga that spans 50 years and five distinct periods in Japan's history. 🟩 Xbox, Multi-platformNew Xbox Boot-Up Sequence Goes Green
Next week, your Xbox Series X|S will be a little different when booting up the Microsoft home console. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has revealed a new intro sequence for the system on X(https://x.com/ashashar/status/2052046475472085437), with the new green Xbox logo featured front and center. The sound effect also seems slightly altered from the original animation that launched in 2020(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgsxsicBINw&t=10s) with the console. Sharma stated that the new boot-up should arrive May 13 for Xbox Series X|S owners. The green logo replaces the white-on-black animation, and it goes textless when previously "Xbox" was written out on screen. There was a soft hint of green on the original sequence, but this new one doesn't hold back from the color associated with the Xbox brand(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/the-complete-history-of-the-xbox-logo-from-green-glow-to-modern-minimal/2900-7685/). > New boot up coming next Wednesday. Though, coincidentally, Sharma has just brought on a handful of her former CoreAI colleagues to help lead Xbox(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/new-xbox-ceo-taps-more-ai-veterans-to-help-lead-xbox/1100-6539787/) going forward. Microsoft Copilot Will No Longer Come To Consoles, Says Xbox CEO
!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/05/05/4efdaa27/copilot%20logo.jpg.webp) Copilot, Microsoft’s AI-powered assistant, has been a controversial feature for some, but it looks like it won’t be introduced to Xbox consoles anymore. Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma confirmed this pivot on X(https://x.com/ashashar/status/2051746410660593933?s=20) today, citing a need to “move faster, deepen our connection with the community, and address friction for both players and developers.” In her post, Sharma states Copilot is also being dropped from mobile while announcing a leadership shake-up. "We promoted leaders who helped build Xbox, while also bringing in new voices to help push us forward. This balance is important as we get the business back on track," writes Sharma. "As part of this shift, you’ll see us begin to retire features that don’t align with where we’re headed. We will begin winding down Copilot on mobile and will stop development of Copilot on console.” > Xbox needs to move faster, deepen our connection with the community, and address friction for both players and developers. > Today, we promoted leaders who helped build Xbox, while also bringing in new voices to help push us forward. This balance is important as we get the business… > > — Asha (@ashashar) May 5, 2026(https://twitter.com/ashashar/status/2051746410660593933?refsrc=twsrc%5Etfw) The response to this announcement has been positive, especially since some players worried that Sharma, who previously served as the president of Microsoft’s CoreAI product, would push for more AI integration in Xbox products. This move at least aligns with her previous statement addressing concerns about AI on Xbox, where she promised that “Games are and always will be art, crafted by humans, and created with the most innovative technology provided by us.” Sharma took over as Xbox CEO following the departures of former Xbox heads Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond in February(https://gameinformer.com/2026/02/20/phil-spencer-is-retiring-xbox-president-sarah-bond-is-leaving-and-microsofts-coreai-head), and has pledged a commitment to “the return of Xbox” and to understanding the Xbox ecosystem and audience despite having no prior experience working in video games. In March, she revealed more details about codename Project Helix(https://gameinformer.com/2026/03/05/new-xbox-ceo-asha-sharma-discusses-next-gen-console-codenamed-project-helix), the next Xbox console currently in development, stating it “will lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games.”
