Aether Dawn is an upcoming indie ARPG from an all-star team of ex-Genshin and Arknights devs

The anime ARPG genre is one which, like platformers and Balatro-likes, has become increasingly saturated on mobile. Amidst heavy hitters such as Genshin Impact or upcoming projects fuelled with star power like Limit Zero Breakers, it can seem virtually impossible for a new entrant to make their mark. Well, except perhaps in the case of Aether Dawn. Developed by Jin Universe Studios, an indie developer founded by ex-Arknight and Genshin Impact developers, Aether Dawn is an interesting spin on the format. It mixes classic anime ARPG action with roguelike dungeon-crawler mechanics. Alongside that, it promises to have its own striking visual style and engaging narrative to keep players invested. ... Pokémon Go Fest 2026 smashes attendance records in Chicago with almost a million players

While we usually don't cover events in too much detail, there are some exceptions. And if there was ever a time to make one, then the latest iteration of Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago would be it. Running June 5th to 7th, it drew in record crowds to both Grant Park and nearly a million players in the city overall. According to the folks at Pokémon Go, over 90,000 tickets were sold for the event at Grant Park, with over 100,000 ticketed participants overall. Across the city, both free and paid players made up a whopping 717,000! And in case you were curious, those numbers equated to 14 million Pokémon caught at Grant Park and over 100 million across the city! ... Ultrapool is Balatro but for pool, unsurprisingly, and it's coming soon to iOS and Android📱 Mobile

Ultrapool is Balatro but for pool, unsurprisingly, and it's coming soon to iOS and Android

At this point, I think the Balatro-like has definitely joined the Survivors-like in being a genre unto its own, with so many different developers and publishers offering their own spins and seeking them out to bring to players. And the latest to take a swing at it are Offbrand Games and their upcoming release, Ultrapool. In case you hadn't guessed from the name, Ultrapool is Balatro but for pool. You take your cue, shoot balls and look to sink as many as possible. Doing so grants you points that can be spent at the in-game bar in order to upgrade your balls, pulling off ridiculous trickshots and multipliers to help you survive all ten rounds of this roguelike. ... Monster Boy brings cartoony side-scrolling action to mobile... but with a hefty price tag📱 Mobile

Monster Boy brings cartoony side-scrolling action to mobile... but with a hefty price tag

Side-scrolling and platforming are mainstays of, well, pretty much every game platform known to humankind. PC, mobile, console, cars and even fridges. So a new entry is not big news, but when it comes with contributions from a designer like Ryuichi Nishizawa, it's well worth taking note of! And that's exactly the case with the upcoming Monster Boy on iOS. Monster Boy is heavily inspired by Nishizawa's previous work as creator of the Wonder Boy in Monster World series. Monster Boy sees you taking control of the heroic Jin as he fights to defeat the evil plaguing Monster World Kingdom. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/monster-boy/coming-to-ios-this-month/)

Toem 2 gets a demo, and yes, you’ve got a screwdriver now📱 Mobile

Toem 2 gets a demo, and yes, you’ve got a screwdriver now

The original Toem ended up on mobile eventually, after launching on Switch and PC. Whether Toem 2 follows the same path is still an open question, but Something We Made and popagenda used the Wholesome Direct this month to drop a playable demo, so at least there's something to go on. Toem 2 is a photo adventure, same as its BAFTA-winning predecessor. You're out with a camera, wandering through cosy environments, helping people out, cataloguing critters, filling a journal with stamps. Jupiter reviewed the original Toem and gave it 4.5 out of 5, so the foundations are pretty solid going in. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/toem-a-photo-adventure/sequel-announcement/)

Fans of popular anime series Hell's Paradise are in luck, because now, if you're an English-speaking fan, you'll soon be able to get your hands on the popular mobile spinoff. Sky: Children of the Light to introduce new interactive Van Gogh art experience

Sky: Children of the Light by ThatGameCompany has frequently dealt with matters of the arts. You know, appearances by singers and tie-in events to classics of children's literature, that sort of thing. But now, Sky is taking a new tack by bringing in the works of one of the most famous European painters in their new event, Dear Van Gogh. Kicking off on July 17th, Dear Van Gogh will bring the works of the titular Dutch painter of the same name to the world of Sky: Children of the Light. You'll be able to explore the troubled but inspiring life of Vincent Van Gogh and his struggles, as well as how this informed his iconic artwork through interactive worlds based on his paintings. ... Alien: Isolation 2 announced, but mobile players shouldn’t hold their breath

Alien: Isolation 2 has just been announced, and yes, it’s a console and PC thing for now. Mobile will have to wait a bit. That sounds a bit blunt, so here’s the context. The original Alien: Isolation didn’t show up on mobile until 2021, a good seven years after it first released. And it still held up well enough that Shaun gave it a 3.5 out of 5 in his review. ...
