Here's The Release Date For Halo: Campaign Evolved (And Some Footage Of Its New Prequel Missions)
!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/07/07c69195/halo01.jpg.webp) Halo: Campaign Evolved is a new, visually improved retelling of the events of the original Halo game, released way back in 2001. Today, we learned it's right around the corner, and got a look at the new content Halo Studios is planning to incorporate. The game is set to launch on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and for the first time ever, PlayStation 5, on July 28. The trailer also showed footage of some prequel missions, known as Operation : METEORITE. It's a three-mission story arc set one year before Halo: Combat Evolved takes place, and follows Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson as they strike a Covenant research vessel. A post on Xbox Wire goes into more detail, reading, "While Halo: Campaign Evolved faithfully remakes the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, Operation: METEORITE gives players a chance to expand their experience with new locations, new enemy variants, more weapons from across the Halo series, and new ways to play within the Halo sandbox, all while getting to spend more time with beloved characters and witness a new event that adds to the legacy of their heroic history." This implies that we might get weapons like the battle rifle, which was introduced in Halo 2, in this remake of the first game. The game is also available to pre-order now, The base game is $49.99 / £49.99 / €59.99, while the premium edition will cost you $69.99 / £69.99 / €79.99, adding on cosmetics, a digital story & art collection, and five days of early access. In other words, you'll be able to play the premium edition starting July 23. !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/07/cb7271f5/06meteoritepremium-edition-90c15466b12ad861b1dc.jpg.webp)(https://gameinformer.com/href) Click to enlarge For more Halo, check out our review of Halo: Infinite(https://gameinformer.com/review/halo-infinite/a-return-to-form-and-something-new), which was our game of the year back in 2021. 🎮 PlayStation, Xbox, Multi-platformState Of Decay 3 Finally Resurfaces With New Trailer, And It’s Coming To PS5
State of Decay 3(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/state-of-decay-3-release-date-trailer-news/1100-6526793/) has resurfaced at the Xbox Games Showcase(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-game-showcase-2026-all-the-biggest-announcements-so-far/) with a new trailer, a release window, and confirmation of a PlayStation 5 edition. State of Decay 3 will release in 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. "In State of Decay 3 you’ll construct settlements, maintain a community of survivors, and battle back against an encroaching zombie threat--with support for solo play or shared world co-op for up to four players--all within a massive open world survival sandbox," reads a line from the game's description. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoLOzgHvKxQ State of Decay 3 is already playable via an alpha version, and the developer said people are "having a blast" with it thus far. The alpha test will be expanded to more people, and then there will be a beta for even more people to try. You can sign up for the State of Decay 3 tests on the game's website(https://www.stateofdecay.com/state-of-decay-3-playtest-in-this-together/). Undead Labs also confirmed that everything in the new trailer was captured in game. "We did not use CGI," the developer said. "We’re just scratching the surface of what this game is offering for players. It’s a very heavy moment-to-moment combat-oriented trailer but we also give you a sneak peek into one of the settlements. In the trailer, you can see one of the many settlements you can claim, including some of the facility and community elements. We plan to show more of that as we go on," the developer said. Undead Labs also discussed a new feature for State of Decay 3--Plague Nests. These are the "next evolution" of Plague Hearts from State of Decay 2. "Think of it as an enemy with its own plans. We spent a lot of time thinking through what it does, how it works, and how it reacts to what actions the players take. These are dynamic sources or hubs of enemy encounters that players can go in and destroy, even if only for a little while," the studio explained. Additionally, Undead Labs confirmed that State of Decay 3's map is "much larger" than the playable space in State of Decay 2. Specifically, the State of Decay 3 map is "about four times the size of a single State of Decay 2 map," and the map is "fully open." State of Decay 3 has a "shared world," which Undead Labs said was "another huge investment" for the game. "In a shared world, any one of us can make changes to the world. You can come in, asynchronously of me, playing the same save at different times. You can move the story forward, you could build facilities, you can get a second or even third settlement--players can now have up to three bases that they can then grow and expand into over time," the developer said. Head to the Xbox Wire(https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/06/07/state-of-decay-3-first-gameplay-reveal-xbox-games-showcase-2026/) to read even more about what to expect in State of Decay 3.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Gets August Release Date In New Gameplay Trailer
!Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy Gameplay Release Date Reveal Trailer(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/07/e3ef4032/resonance02.jpg.webp) Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/resonance-a-plague-tale-legacy) is a prequel to A Plague Tale: Requiem and it stars the former buccaneer, Sophia. Courtesy of a new gameplay trailer during today's Xbox Games Showcase, we now know it launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on August 27. We first learned about Resonance during last year's Xbox Games Showcase(https://www.gameinformer.com/xbox-games-showcase/2025/06/08/resonance-a-plague-tale-legacy-is-a-spinoff-starring-requiems-sophia), and it was nice to see it again this year, this time with a look at the more action-oriented gameplay. While it still retains some of the third-person DNA from the first two Plague Tale games, Sophia is decidedly more adept in combat, using swords to slay enemies and her wits to solve puzzles and more. It continues to look like a great time. New Fable Footage Reveals Its Villain, Isabel Hero Of Wraithmarsh, Played By Hayley Atwell
!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/07/83612840/fable01.jpg.webp) The latest trailer for Fable, the February 2027 sequel from Playground Games (which was recently delayed(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/05/29/fable-delayed-to-february-2027)), showcased a new character with Isabel Hero of Wraithmarsh. Isabel is performed by Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) as confirmed on the Xbox Blog, where it shares more actor announcements for the game(https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/06/07/fable-cast-list-new-trailer-hayley-atwell-xbox-games-showcase-2026/). Plus, the trailer reveals Fable will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 23. Isabel claims to be a hero – the one hero Albion needs – but there is an undercurrent of evil to her monologue. “Isabel is a driven, powerful Hero on a quest to make right a tragic injustice," narrative director Craig Owens writes. "Driven by grief, Isabel has turned her pain into determination and focus that sets her at odds with The Hero of Briar Hill and Humphry, her one-time guardian. Isabel’s conviction that she’s not just doing the right thing, but she’ll be able to make right any harm she causes along the way makes her a powerful, dangerous enemy.” !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/07/2893289b/jenny-284b0391327c0e38db2f-1900x1080.jpg.webp) Over on the Xbox Blog, Playground Games also shared that What We Do In The Shadows' Natasia Demetriou will also be in the game as Jenny. “Brutal, crude, and shameless, Jenny is one of the two feuding heirs to the city of Bloodstone," Owens writes. "She embodies Bloodstone as it is – proud, defiant, and dangerous. And, if she gets her way, how it always will be.” The trailer also ends with what appears to be the return of Jack of Blades, the antagonist from the original Fable. Jack of Blades, however, has always worn a mask, so it could just be someone taking on the mantle. Fable will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 23, or February 18 for those who buy the Premium Edition of the game. !(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/06/07/83612840/fable01.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/06/07/eaa238eb/fable02.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/06/07/4ee15762/fable03.jpg.webp)
🎮 PlayStation, Xbox, Multi-platformFable Release Date Announced, With A Look At New And Old Villains
At long last, Microsoft has shown more of its new Fable game and announced a release date for it. The new Fable, which is developed by Forza Horizon studio Playground, launches on February 23, 2027 for Xbox, PC, and PS5. The trailer opened with our first look at Isabel, the game's main antagonist played by Hayley Atwell. Isabel is described as a hero attempting to right a tragic wrong, which is clear by her portrayal in the game's latest trailer. She doesn't seems like the same mustache-twirling villain that the series has leaned on in the past, but she might be joined by the first Fable's main antagonist, Jack of Blades, who appears at the end. https://youtu.be/3iW1i78zFvk?si=Gz4-c4beWJuCzKPV Atwell is leading a stacked cast of actors(https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/06/07/fable-cast-list-new-trailer-hayley-atwell-xbox-games-showcase-2026/) that fill out Fable's roster of eclectic heroes and villains. These include Lily Nichol and Ukweli Roach, who will play the hero based on who you select, as well as Matt King, Susan Wokoma, and Richard Ayoade, who featured in Fable's first gameplay trailer years ago. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass day one. Eidos Montreal is co-developing the new Fable(https://x.com/EidosMontreal/status/1799870163191304253) alongside Playground. This is just the latest co-development project at Xbox, as the new Perfect Dark game was jointly developed by Microsoft and Crystal Dynamics prior to its cancellation.(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/perfect-dark-gets-first-gameplay-trailer/1100-6524084/)

Gears Of War: E-Day Launches As A Console Exclusive On Xbox Series X/S And PC This October
!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/07/38a651e5/gears05.jpg.webp) Today's Xbox Games Showcase brought our first look at gameplay for Gears of War: E-Day(https://gameinformer.com/href) in a new trailer featuring Marcus Fenix wearing... very normal clothes?? That's likely because E-Day is about Emergency Day, or the day in the Gears of War universe where the Locust made themselves known from their underground hives. Marcus, answering the call to protect the city he seemingly lives in, picks up a gun and gets to work, and it looks awesome, showcasing a key piece of Gears of War's history we've never seen in a game. Plus, this gameplay trailer revealed that Gears of War: E-Day launches exclusively on October 6 on Xbox Series X/S and PC (despite rumors of a PlayStation 5 release). Check it out in the Gears of War: E-Day gameplay reveal trailer below: As you can see, Gears of War: E-Day still retains the classic third-person cover shooter DNA of the prior Gears of War games, though this one is decidedly even more bloody and violent. Its visual fidelity is impressive, too, with developer The Coalition showcasing its Unreal Engine 5 prowess. In case this is your first time hearing about the game,(https://www.gameinformer.com/xbox-showcase/2024/06/09/gears-of-war-e-day-is-a-prequel-set-14-years-before-the-first-game) Gears of War: E-Day is an origin prequel for the series, set 14 years before the events of the first Gears of War game, and as the name implies, it chronicles the events of longtime protagonist Marcus Fenix as he navigates the eruption of the Locust Horde's siege on humanity. In the extended look at Gears of War: E-Day that aired right after today's Xbox Games Showcase, we learned even more about how the game will play. New mechanical advancements include new methods to fight off Locust hordes – how much you explore the city-setting of Kalona will determine how many civilians you help, and The Coalition says exploring city offshoots will lead to additional environmental story discoveries and more. !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/07/97388b98/gears04.jpg.webp) The Coalition also touts its emphasis on environmental details that speak to the destruction and chaos the Locusts have caused – dinners left uneaten, TVs still on, and more. Nobody in the city was prepared for this, and the team put a lot of detail into ensuring that what you see on-screen reflects that. The studio also highlighted the return of Locust holes, where hordes of enemies will spew forth, as well as the ways in which bullets, explosions, and Locust attacks bring destruction to Kalona. The story explores themes of burden, loss, and loyalty, according to the team. The entire campaign is played from the perspective of the new Bravo Squad, and you'll meet Carter, a new Gear, and Lucas, a fresh cadet, who round out the new crew alongside Marcus and Dom. These four soldiers will navigate tensions together as they fight the Locusts, ultimately forming unshakeable bonds as they attempt to save humanity. Bravo's story also intertwines with others from the Gears of War storyline (including novels), including characters like Gill Gettner and Tai Kaliso. !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/07/b28a1714/gears01.jpg.webp) Instead of chasing perfect realism in the visuals, risking the loss of the bulky, larger-than-life visual style that defines Gears of War, The Coalition took a respectful approach to presenting these returning characters in new ways, as the showcase revealed. Finally, Gears of War: E-Day will run at 4K resolution with native HDR10 rendering and hardware-based 60 FPS ray tracing in the campaign (and 120 FPS in multiplayer). It will feature 4-player online co-op (with all four playable characters available from the jump) and 2-player splitscreen co-op. Gears of War: E-Day launches October 6, 2026, as a platform exclusive game on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
🎮 PlayStation, Xbox, Multi-platformGears Of War E-Day Looks Mobility-Focused, And Don’t Worry, There’s A Chainsaw
During the Xbox Games Showcase(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-game-showcase-2026-all-the-biggest-announcements-so-far/), Microsoft announced(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/the-game-awards-2025-all-the-biggest-announcements/2900-7341/) that Gears of War: E-Day will launch on October 3. The game is co-developed by The Coalition and People Can Fly, and is in the works for Xbox Series X|S and PC. It's not coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed during the showcase. During the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft showed off new gameplay footage for the game, and it looked pretty impressive. We saw Marcus Fenix in an intense set-piece fighting off numerous types of Locust enemies, now with seemingly more mobility abilities, including sliding. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y85lNvF3kVQ The footage confirms that a lot of the Gears of War mainstays are staying intact, including the active reload and cover systems, and the general Gears of War vibe. And of course, the chainsaw is back. In short, this definitely looks like a Gears of War game. E-Day is a prequel that focuses on Emergence Day(https://gearsofwar.fandom.com/wiki/EmergenceDay), which is when the Locust emerged from underground in the Gears of War lore. The original Marcus and Dom voice actors are returning.(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gears-of-war-e-day-is-bringing-back-original-marcus-and-dom-voice-actors/1100-6527641/) The game was reportedly planned for PS5 until Microsoft decided to cancel that version(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gears-of-war-e-day-ps5-version-canceled-report-says/) as part of its plan to return to exclusivity.
🎮 PlayStation, Xbox, Multi-platformGears of War: E-Day isn’t coming to the PS5
Apparently, the "return of Xbox" means a retreat from other platforms. At its Xbox Games Showcase today, Microsoft revealed that Gears of War: E-Day - which was previously rumored for a PS5 launch in addition to Xbox and PC - will not be coming to PlayStation. It'll be an Xbox console exclusive and is launching &8230;
