A meteor levelling a tropical holiday resort would be the entire plot of most things. In Mutazione it is backstory, and distant backstory at that. The survivors stayed put, and a century on, their descendants are mostly busy gossiping about each other. Better story, I'd say. Kai is 15 and gets packed off to Mutazione to nurse her grandfather Nonno back to health. He's dying. He also has plans for her that he's in no rush to explain. Everyone else in town has mutated in one direction or another over the past 100 years, and they've all got plenty to say about each other. Awkward for Kai. Good for us. ...
