AMD’s FSR Upscaling 4.1 Comes To Older GPUs, Steam Machine And Xbox ROG Ally Support On The Way🖥 PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Multi-platform

AMD’s FSR Upscaling 4.1 Comes To Older GPUs, Steam Machine And Xbox ROG Ally Support On The Way

AMD has announced that owners of RDNA 3 GPUs can now enjoy the benefits offered by its latest version of AI-powered upscaling, FSR 4.1. This comes a few weeks earlier than its July estimate, with the promise for more devices down the line, too. FSR Upscaling 4.1 functions similarly to other upscaling technologies on the market, and comes much closer to the performance and quality of Nvidia's market-leading DLSS than previous iterations. It's the same technology that underpins the PlayStation 5 Pro's PSSR 2(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps5-pros-upgraded-pssr-is-rolling-out-today-here-are-the-first-games-getting-it/1100-6538811/), with Sony layering on its own work on top of what AMD has engineering here. https://twitter.com/jackhuynh/status/2069059207383720091 The upscaling suite was previously exclusive to the company's latest GPUs, the RX 9070 and 9070 XT, but will now be available to many, many more RDNA 3 GPUs, such as the popular 7800XT and XTX. You'll need the latest version of AMD's Adrenalin software, which you can grab here(https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RAD-WIN-26-6-2.html). Devices with RDNA 3.5 APUs, such as Valve's Steam Machine(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/steam-machine-price-and-release-date-officially-confirmed-by-valve/) and the Xbox ROG Ally X, will eventually get FSR 4.1 support, with AMD working on lightweight AI models specific to the lower memory bandwidth of these and similar devices. AMD has also committed to supporting even older RDNA 2 cards with FSR 4.1 sometime in 2027. That, unfortunately, isn't likely to include the one in Valve's Steam Deck, which might have given more life to the aging, and now more expensive(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/steam-deck-gets-massive-price-hike/), handheld gaming PC.

Death Stranding Movie Is A “Two-Hour Art Movie,” Kojima Says, Admitting It Might Not Work🟩 Xbox, Multi-platform

Death Stranding Movie Is A “Two-Hour Art Movie,” Kojima Says, Admitting It Might Not Work

Hideo Kojima has shared new insight into the Death Stranding movie, while director Michael Sarnoski has revealed a key detail about it as well. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly(https://ew.com/xbox-25th-anniversary-hollywood-adaptations-cover-story-exclusive-12003252), Kojima said he wanted to "try a different path" with the adaptation of Death Stranding for film. That path, he said, is to make a "two-hour art movie" as opposed to re-telling the story of the games. Kojima admitted this plan might not work. "I don't know if this will be successful, but that's the goal," he said. The Death Stranding movie is in the works at A24, which just reached an AI-training deal with Google,(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/elden-ring-death-stranding-movie-studio-gets-75-million-from-google-for-ai-research-report-says/) and is also behind the Elden Ring film from director Alex Garland. Sarnoski, who earned acclaim for directing the movie Pig starring Nicolas Cage and later made A Quiet Place: Day One, told The Hollywood Reporter(https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/death-of-robin-hood-michael-sarnoski-1236625837/) that Death Stranding is his next project. Sarnoski, who is also writing the script, said he's still working on the script, but he's confirmed it's the next movie he'll direct "for sure." Sarnoski's latest project was The Death of Robin Hood, which stars Hugh Jackman as Robin Hood and released on June 19. The Death Stranding movie doesn't have a cast, release date, or any other concrete information yet. However, Sarnoski previously talked about how the film will feature characters not seen in the game, but with the overall aim of "keeping it honest to the game." Kojima himself was approached to direct the Death Stranding movie(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/death-stranding-movie-could-have-been-directed-by-kojima-himself/1100-6534300/), but he declined. Kojima won’t be “involved too much” because if he were, he said he would “start saying a lot of things.” Kojima is also working on a new game for Xbox called OD, and a new screenshot was shared in the Entertainment Weekly story linked above.

Todd Howard On The Elder Scrolls 6: “We Need To Get It Right”🟩 Xbox, Multi-platform

Todd Howard On The Elder Scrolls 6: “We Need To Get It Right”

The Elder Scrolls 6 is one of Xbox's most-anticipated upcoming games, and game director Todd Howard has now said the studio must stick the landing. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly(https://ew.com/xbox-25th-anniversary-hollywood-adaptations-cover-story-exclusive-12003252), Howard confirmed that the majority of the developers at Bethesda Game Studios are working on The Elder Scrolls 6 currently. "We know we need to get it right and it's been a long time," he said. Indeed it has been a long time. The game was announced more than eight years ago now(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/elder-scrolls-6-was-announced-8-years-ago-today-heres-why-it-didnt-show-up-at-xbox-showcase/), and to date, only one video has been released, and it was only a title reveal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkFdqqyI8y4 The game did not show up at the Xbox Games Showcase earlier in June. Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty said this was because Microsoft was waiting for "the right moment"(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/elder-scrolls-6-was-announced-8-years-ago-today-heres-why-it-didnt-show-up-at-xbox-showcase/) to show the game again. "When you decide to show it, you want it to be the best you’ve got,” he said. “And also that when you show the game, you’re also giving them a promise of, 'Hey, it’s coming soon.'” Howard has questioned whether it was the right call(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/todd-howard-talks-elder-scrolls-6-and-retirement-i-want-to-do-it-forever/1100-6517168/) to announce The Elder Scrolls 6 so early. “I have asked myself that a lot,” he said. “I don’t know. I probably would’ve announced it more casually.” He later said announcing The Elder Scrolls 6 in the way that Bethesda did was “not my preference,”(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/todd-howard-on-elder-scrolls-6-just-pretend-we-didnt-announce-it-it-doesnt-exist/1100-6538842/) but it happened anyway. He went on to joke: “Just pretend we didn’t announce it. It doesn’t exist. No one has heard a word.”

Xbox Is Working On A Dozen Movies And TV Shows, Including Sea Of Thieves🖥 Xbox, PC, Multi-platform

Xbox Is Working On A Dozen Movies And TV Shows, Including Sea Of Thieves

Xbox is going full steam ahead with a slate of films and TV shows, which now includes a live-action adaptation of Rare's 2018 pirate-filled, social-sim adventure game, Sea of Thieves(https://www.gamespot.com/games/sea-of-thieves/). According to a June 22 Entertainment Weekly report(https://ew.com/xbox-25th-anniversary-hollywood-adaptations-cover-story-exclusive-12003252), Xbox has "over a dozen adaptations in the works." Some of these projects are already known--Death Stranding is getting a film(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/death-stranding-movies-script-is-almost-done-director-says/), Netflix is fully supporting an animated and live-action Gears movie(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gears-of-war-movie-netflix-is-100-behind-it-director-says/1100-6539465/?utmsource=gamefaqs&utmmedium=partner&utmcontent=newsmodule&utmcampaign=gamespacenews), Fallout has a new season(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fallout-season-3-adds-more-big-names-to-its-cast/), and Minecraft is getting a sequel film(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/a-minecraft-movie-2-gets-a-new-name-adds-one-of-the-funniest-actors-out-there/). But one that may come as a surprise is that Sea of Thieves will get the live-action treatment, too, with American filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton (Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) producing. No director has been attached to the project just yet, though. Matt Booty, Xbox's newly minted chief content officer and executive vice president, teased to Entertainment Weekly what the film's story would be about. "The main character of a Sea of Thieves game is actually the player and the community," Booty said. "So if you sit down to think about Sea of Thieves, it's not, 'Who are the main characters? What's the plot?' It's a super social game, but there's a tone to Sea of Thieves. It's built on a very cooperative community, so you can start to sense what that's going to be like." Developed by Rare Limited and published by Xbox Game Studios, Sea of Thieves is an open-world pirate action-adventure game that launched on Xbox consoles in 2018. You create a pirate, helm a ship, and sail the seven seas in search of bodies to shoot and booty to plunder. While you can play solo, the game was built with multiplayer in mind, so it'll be curious to see how Hollywood brings a live-action adaptation of a primarily social game to life.

Subnautica 2: What to do first

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/subnautica2adaptationplant.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) If you're just getting started in Subnautica 2(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/subnautica-2), it's not surprising if you're feeling a little overwhelmed. You've pretty much been plonked into the middle of an alien world with a Lifepod as your only safe space and a heck of a lot of exploration ahead of you. It's not immediately clear where to go and, more important, what will and won't cause you harm as you swim around. Spoiler alert: It's more bad than good. Nevertheless, if you're prepared to put on a brave face and head on out (you don't really have a choice, mind), there are ways to make your start in the game a lot less stressful. Below I'll walk you through the 9 steps I recommend taking straight off the Lifepod to set yourself up for success in Subnautica 2. If success still includes swimming maniacally back to your Tadpole and zipping away when trouble is afoot, that is. Read more(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/subnautica-2-what-to-do-first)

This $1,000 Steam Game Offers Very Little, But At Least It’s Honest About It🖥 PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Multi-platform

This $1,000 Steam Game Offers Very Little, But At Least It’s Honest About It

With people wondering if GTA 6 preorders will kickstart a new $80 era(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/80-games-are-already-here/) for standard edition PS5 and Xbox Series X|S games, one new release on Steam already has Rockstar Games beat: Congratulations On Your Purchase. The new red carpet-simulator launched not too long ago, and it can be yours for the mere price of $1,000. Designed to be a "first-person luxury experience" set inside a palace, the Steam listing(https://store.steampowered.com/app/4693030/CongratulationsOnYourPurchase/) says that players can expect a red carpet, a chandelier, and a velvet rope barrier to protect them from "the wrong kind" of people. As for the gameplay, there is no combat, no enemies, no quests, no skill trees, and one box that contains only the feeling of having arrived somewhere important. Developer Minimal Viable Prestige is also brutally honest about what you can expect from their debut game. "You paid for this. Not accidentally. Not on impulse. You saw the price. You read the description. And then you bought it anyway. Welcome." !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Congrats.jpg?w=1024) For $1,000, I was expecting character models not to look squished. Of course, players are protected, just in case they take a bad stumble near their PC, open up Steam, input their credit card details, and then click through several confirmation pages during their fall. Steam's refund policy allows for a game to be returned, provided that it hasn't been played for more than two hours or owned for more than two weeks. Congratulations On Your Purchase might be expensive, but several other special editions of games have also been priced high over the years while offering more content overall in comparison. This $750 Stylish Edition of Resident Evil 6 came with a wearable replica of Leon S. Kennedy's leather jacket, and an $800 Assassin's Creed Origins collector's edition was limited to just 1,000 units. If you had cash burning a hole in your pocket for a publicity stunt, there was the $190,000 edition of Grid 2 that included an actual car, one Dying Light player could get a custom-built zombie apocalypse shelter(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/386-000-dying-light-special-edition-announced/1100-6425493/), and Saints Row 4 even offered to send you to space if you purchased the one-of-a-kind $1 million special edition(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/1-million-saints-row-iv-edition-revealed/1100-6412754/). Prefer not tospend $1,000 on a single game? Then check out our favorite recommendations from the recent Steam Next Fest(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/steam-next-fest-june-2026-25-of-the-best-demos-you-can-play-right-now/). All the demos are free to play, and we're pretty certain that each game won't be too expensive when they eventually launch in full.
