Blizzard's iconic action-RPG just saw the release of its newest expansion Lord of Hatred mere weeks ago, earning a 9 out of 10 from GameSpot's Jessica Cogswell in her review-in-progress(https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/diablo-4-lord-of-hatred-review-mother-knows-best/1900-6418484/). After originally launching in April of 2023, Diablo IV has seen a slough of updates and two massive story and content expansions, and is currently on Season 13, titled the Season of Reckoning. Notably, getting Diablo IV through Humble Choice this month is done so through direct Battle.net redemption in order to play. On the other end of the RPG spectrum is Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. Released in 2024, this is an enhanced version of the original Shin Megami Tensei V from 2021. Vengeance includes all of the previously-released DLC expansions, and also features a breadth of new story content, features, and quality-of-life improvements, similar to what Persona 5 Royal did with the original release. If massive, grindy AAA RPGs aren't quite your thing, the May Humble Choice catalogue also has a few great indie titles to choose from. Speeding around Japan is an absolute delight, full of all the incredible vistas you've come to expect, and the open-world design has me constantly veering off course to discover new collectibles, vehicles, and events. After more than 30 hours in Playground's gorgeous rendition of Japan, I'm still itching to jump back into the driver seat and explore more of what wonders still await. Of course, all of that comes with the caveat that in order to play Forza Horizon 6 today, ahead of its official May 19 release date next week, you do have to opt in for the $120 Premium Edition, which includes a bunch of digital extras alongside early access to the game. It's a hefty price tag that will be much lower next week, and even lower if you're a Game Pass subscriber. You're still clicking on a big grid of numbers and trying to flag and avoid enemy mines, but playing and building score gives you the chance to unlock both single-run and permanent upgrades that improve your chances as additional traps and other complications. Is this the game that is going to change your world? No, it's definitely not. NetEase continues to offer one of the most consistent and regular approaches to game updates currently on the market; this new character is the beginning of a rollout this season that includes the arrival of X-Man Cyclops, a new map, and a whole host of new costumes and other cosmetics. And if you enjoy pulpy cosmic horror mysteries, the game has that in spades. I promise you’ll only go a little mad while playing it. In 2002, Final Fantasy XI(https://www.gamespot.com/games/final-fantasy-xi/) was one of the pioneering MMORPG titles on consoles, and Square Enix has kept the world of Vana'diel alive for nearly a quarter century. Now, as the game celebrates its 24th anniversary, Square Enix has announced that the free trial for Final Fantasy XI has been greatly expanded. During a livestream on Square Enix's Japanese YouTube account(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN8iFMUVJQk) (via Reddit(https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxi/comments/1tcve7w/comment/olxxn1c/)), the publisher announced that the previous 14-day version of the free trial is being revamped. The new free trial doesn't have a time limit and players are free to explore the game's world as long as they want. Additionally, the level cap on the free trial has been expanded to level 75, but the players will be limited to the base game rather than the expansions. But free-trial players will still be welcome to stick around after they reach level 75. There are a lot of unique and funny ways the teams went about this, but nothing tops the Los Angeles Chargers spoofing Halo and the Cleveland Browns spoofing Street Fighter 2. These aren't just creative workarounds either – the Chargers worked directly with Halo Studios to create various in-game Halo matches, complete with custom armor and other creative touches to showcase each football team in the style of the long-running FPS. They even got Jeff Steitzer, the man behind the iconic Halo multiplayer voice, to provide new voice lines for the video, and it rules. Each NFL team is represented with a pretty good approximation of a Street Fighter 2 character in this fake version of the game, and you can see the Browns' fighter face off against them. Only three days have passed since Pearl Abyss shared the last update for Crimson Desert(https://www.gamespot.com/games/crimson-desert/), but the publisher has now dropped another patch(https://crimsondesert.pearlabyss.com/en-US/News/Notice/Detail?boardNo=92) that makes some notable improvements to the game. It also fixes the issue with Damiane’s Elegant Carmine leather armor that sparked some backlash earlier this month. According to the patch notes, the "abnormal" appearance of Damiane's new armor wasn't planned. The Elegant Carmine leather armor briefly covered up more of her body than usual, which caused some players to complain, and a few even review-bombed the game on Steam. The new update also allows players to get rematches with more bosses in the game while adding a very powerful move for the main character, Kliff. With his new unarmed Blinding Flash Finisher, Kliff can finish a combo by going full superhero and unleash a hit that emits a massive shockwave. Damiane and Oongka have also been given their own versions of the Aerial Stab move. For animal lovers, there are new bears and wolves that can be used as mounts.
