Developer Bethesda Game Studios, however, will begin testing PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game this month, with plans to roll out the update sometime this Summer. This news was announced in the Infestations update release notes (that you can read here(https://fallout.bethesda.net/en/article/7uZ5caUi4lqZxmhKDXqEAV/fallout-76-infestations-release-notes)), which also explains that Fallout 76 will get PlayStation 5 Pro support. Anyone who already owns Fallout 76 will be able to download the Xbox Series X/S or PS5 test versions from their respective stores and try out the updated game. Bethesda says once testing is complete, it plans to release the update later this Summer. Here's what you can expect in the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Fallout 76: - Targeted 60 FPS across PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S - Improved draw distances - Improved shadows - 4K resolution (on compatible displays) on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X Editor's Note: Xbox Series S 4K support is not planned - Variable Refresh Rate on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S - PS5 and PS5 Pro will support 1440p, while previous-generation platforms will continue to support 1080p. The Latest Crimson Desert Roadmap Promises Story Improvements, New Combat Content, And Cross-Save Functionality
!Crimson Desert Pearl Abyss PlayStation PS5 Pro Comparison Xbox Series X/S PC Performance Quality Balanced FPS(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/03/20/4c45267d/crimsondesert2.jpg.webp) Crimson Desert(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/crimson-desert) launched on March 19(https://www.gameinformer.com/state-of-play/2025/09/24/black-desert-studios-new-rpg-crimson-desert-gets-march-release-date) on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Mac, and since then, developer Pearl Abyss has been hard at work improving the game, leaving no criticized stone unturned. In Game Informer's Crimson Desert review(https://www.gameinformer.com/review/crimson-desert/open-world-overload), we said the game lacked narrative depth, and according to the latest roadmap for the open-world action game, the studio is working to fix that. Plus, Pearl Abyss promises new combat-focused content, cross-save functionality, and more between now and September. "We plan to roll these updates out gradually from June through September, and we're preparing them to be enjoyable both for those who have spent many hours in Pywel and for those who are just beginning their journey," the roadmap(https://crimsondesert.pearlabyss.com/en-US/News/Notice/Detail?boardNo=95) reads. "Your feedback will continue to be an important reference throughout development, so please continue to share it with us." Pearl Abyss says the listed updates in today's roadmap are not where the team's support for Crimson Desert ends, noting, "We are also hard at work on an upcoming DLC for Crimson Desert, and while we cannot share the details just yet, we are preparing it as a meaningful addition to your journey." Here's the list of planned updates for Crimson Desert, according to Pearl Abyss' latest roadmap: !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/03/10/05ba8ace/crimsondesertdeer.jpg.webp) - Story Improvements: Pearl Abyss says it is carefully reviewing story-related feedback from players and, to strengthen the narrative flow of Kliff's journey and make it more engaging, is working to refine and improve the coherence of key scenes. - New Combat Content: New combat-focused content will be added to Crimson Desert, according to Pearl Abyss, "allowing players to prove their true strength as a Greyman." - Cross-Save: The studio says it is actively working on a cross-save feature to allow players to continue their journey in Pywel across different platforms. "By linking your account, you will be able to share save files across platforms and continue your journey on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox," the roadmap reads. - Re-Blockade Update: Pearl Abyss writes in the roadmap that a new phase for Re-Blockade is being developed to "make the flow before and after a blockade more natural, along with ways to defend certain strongholds from the threat of invasion." It also says the rewards will be improved to make liberating strongholds feel more rewarding. - Damiane and Oongka Gameplay Improvements:Pearl Abyss is working on improving the overall gameplay experience for Damiane and Oongka experiences in Crimson Desert, noting that "various adjustments will be made so that all three playable characters can get a share of the spotlight." - Quality of Life Improvements for Non-Combat Content: The roadmap reads, "We will continue making improvements to non-combat content, such as trading and farming, to address areas that players have found inconvenient." To close out the roadmap, Pearl Abyss says the planned features above are currently in development and that details may change as updates are released. All of the updates listed above are expected to hit Crimson Desert between now and September. Brutal First-Person Horror Game ILL Still Looks Terrifying In New Story Trailer
!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/84ac5913/illscreen2026.jpg.webp) Team Clout once again revealed its first-person horror game Ill during today's State of Play. To the surprise of no one who has kept up with the game since its original reveal last summer(https://gameinformer.com/sgf-2025/2025/06/06/ill-is-a-survival-horror-game-made-by-people-who-worked-on-longlegs-it), it looks as gruesome as ever. Today's trailer showed a bit more story, with the protagonist exploring a fort overtaken by some type of evil entity. The facility is filled with horrors ranging from infant-like creatures to hallway-filling monstrosities. Today's trailer is definitely not for the faint of heart, but feel free to give yourself some nightmare fuel by giving it a watch. Ill has no release date but it's coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Delayed To August Following Playtests And Player Feedback
!Hell Let Loose Vietnam Expression Games Team 17 August Release Date(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/05/14/ba536fd1/hllvscreenshot2.jpg.webp) Publisher Team17 and developer Expression Games have delayed Hell Let Loose: Vietnam(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/hell-let-loose-vietnam), its quasi-sequel to WW2 shooter Hell Let Loose(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/hell-let-loose), to August 13 following feedback from players in recent open betas and in internal playtests. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam was originally due out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on June 18(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/05/14/hell-let-loose-vietnam-gets-june-release-date-open-beta-later-this-month), but will now launch roughly two months later on those same platforms. "We have been so excited watching you share your experiences and seeing the great videos from our War Correspondents and being able to receive and implement your important feedback throughout both our Closed and Open Betas," a press release reads. "In addition to your feedback, we have also been carrying out intensive internal playtests for both the PC and console versions of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, and we have identified several areas where additional development time will allow us to deliver a stronger launch experience. "Therefore, after careful consideration, we have decided to delay the launch to August 13. This will ensure that Hell Let Loose: Vietnam launches at the quality level we expect and you deserve." The most recent open beta started May 29 and ended June 1, but closed betas were held before that. It seems that feedback from those betas, alongside feedback from internal playtests, has helped Expression Games identify areas for improvement, and the team is taking extra time to shore up the loose ends. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on August 13. In the meantime, read Game Informer's in-depth behind-the-scenes feature about the development of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam(https://www.gameinformer.com/feature/2026/05/12/warm-blood-hot-mics), based on two hours of hands-on time and exclusive interviews with Expression Games and Team17. 🟩 Xbox, Multi-platformHalo 3 “1v1 Me Bro” Tournament Announced, Top Prize Is A Legendary Console
GameStop has announced a 1v1 Halo 3 tournament, and the top prize is one of the best-looking Xbox consoles ever designed. The retailer is hosting a one-day tournament at its Euless, Texas location on Saturday, June 6 where people can square off against Michael “Flamesword” Chaves(https://halo-esports.fandom.com/wiki/Flamesword) for a chance to win the Xbox 360 Halo 3 edition console. The system, which was originally released in 2007 for Halo 3's launch, has a tasty color palette that's meant to match Master Chief's own color scheme. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Screenshot-2026-06-02-at-9.30.52-AM.png?w=811) The fine print of the "1v1 Me Bro" tournament states that you must be 18 or older to participate, and the contest is taking place with a first-come queue. The first person to beat Flamesword will win the contest and the event will end. There are no other details, but presumably the contest will be played on an Xbox 360. If you want the Halo 3 Xbox 360 but don't want to play in the tournament, you can buy it from GameStop for $100(https://www.gamestop.com/gaming-accessories/controllers/xbox-360/products/microsoft-xbox-360-console-with-wired-controller---halo-3/106637.html). If you're interested in attending the contest, you can visit the GameStop store at 1301 W Glade Road in Euless, Texas.(https://maps.app.goo.gl/vvoV39B15VCkF9aF8) The event begins at 5 PM on June 6. In other GameStop news, the retailer is currently trying to acquire eBay, but the auction site flatly rejected the video game store's $56 billion offer(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ebays-rejection-letter-to-gamestops-56-billion-bid-pulls-absolutely-no-punches/1100-6539894/?previewid=1755912&previewnonce=3c381d2c40&preview=true&thumbnailid=1755913). 🎮 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Multi-platformDon’t Have a Switch 2 To Play Star Fox? Try This Upcoming PS5 And Xbox Game Instead
If you're yearning for a modern reinterpretation of Star Fox's rail-shooter gameplay but don't own a Switch 2 to play the upcoming remake(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-fox-buying-guide/1100-6539831/), then you'll want to consider playing Wild Blue Skies. Developed by Chuhai Labs and published by Balor Games, the game got a release date during today's The Mix Summer Game Showcase. Specifically, Wild Blue Skies will be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on August 13. Like Star Fox, it's a sci-fi rail shooter starring anthropomorphic animals. In this case, players control a dog named Bowie Stray who is on a mission with the Blue Bombers to stop Grimclaw (this game's version of Andross). They do so during on-rails missions where players have to fly across alien planets and deal with whatever obstacles or gimmicks each level throws at them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdRggRKhNMk There's a free demo of Wild Blue Skies you can try on Steam(https://store.steampowered.com/app/1921490/WildBlueSkies/). When you play it, you'll find that it's a very polished spiritual successor to classic games like Star Fox. It doesn't reinvent the genre, but at the time of its reveal, it did not need to. When Wild Blue Skies was first announced last year, the Star Fox series had been missing in action for several years as Nintendo did not seem interested in continuing it. The game also had the pedigree of being worked on by Giles Goddard(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/former-star-fox-dev-is-releasing-a-spiritual-successor/1100-6536486/), one of the programmers of the original Star Fox. That changed in April, when Nintendo revealed a Star Fox 64 remake for Nintendo Switch 2, simply titled Star Fox(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-fox-on-switch-2-isnt-just-a-retread-its-a-fresh-start/1100-6539843/). That game is out on June 25, beating Wild Blue Skies to the punch by about a month and a half. Still, Wild Blue Skies won't have its thunder completely stolen, as it's not coming out on any Nintendo systems. When it comes out on August 13, Wild Blue Skies can serve as a nice alternative for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players who can't play the new Star Fox. Perhaps both of these games can kick off a renaissance for the rail shooter genre as a whole.
Asus Reveals ROG Xbox Ally X20 With OLED Screen, Upgraded Joysticks, And Transparent Shell
!Asus ROG Xbox Ally X20 OLED Screen Transparent Shell Bundle 2026 (https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/01/b989cd08/asusxboxallyx20.jpg.webp) Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG, lol) has announced(https://rog.asus.com/us/gaming-handhelds/rog-ally/rog-xbox-ally-x20-bundle-2026/) the ROG Xbox Ally X20, a new version of the ROG Xbox Ally X(https://www.gameinformer.com/2025/08/20/xbox-reveals-rog-xbox-ally-x-handheld-release-date-but-not-price-due-to-macro-economic) that launched last year, featuring a larger now-OLED screen, tunneling magnetoresistance joysticks, and a transparent shell. It will still feature the same AMD Ryzen AI Z2 extreme processor that makes last year's ROG Xbox Ally X the handheld powerhouse it is, but this X20 device is likely to cost you a lot more. That's because it will only be available as a bundle alongside the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR glasses. There's no confirmed price for this bundle, nor is there a release date yet, but considering those glasses cost roughly $850 on their own, this bundle is likely to easily clear $2000 – here's hoping they de-bundle the X20 device from the glasses one day. Here's a look at the two devices together in the bundle: !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/01/98ded4f9/rogxboxallyx20bundle3drenderscenariophotorogwallpaperproduct.jpg.webp) This X20 marks the first time Asus has deployed an OLED panel in one of its handheld devices, and it's an exciting upgrade to the portable PC. That said, the new TMR joysticks are a nice improvement, and if you're into the retro-style transparent shells, that's a nice addition too. There are also gold accents built into the device to celebrate 20 years of ROG, and it features a "transforming d-pad" to switch between 4-directional and 8-directional input. The rear of the handgrips will feature a rubberized coating, similar to that found on the Xbox Elite Series controllers. If you aren't familiar with the XREAL glasses, basically, you connect them to your device (the X20 in this case) via a cord, and the handheld's screen is projected into the glasses, giving you a virtual 171-inch screen with a 240Hz display – it's a cool effect and works quite well. Considering Asus' 20th anniversary is this year, it's likely this bundle will be released in 2026, but there's no definitive word on launch price or date. Do you think this is a good upgrade to last year's Xbox ROG Ally X? Let us know in the comments below!
🎮 PlayStation, Xbox, Multi-platformXbox CEO Says Showing PS5, Switch Logos During Xbox Showcase Is Bad, Actually
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has said it was a "miss" for Microsoft to re-commit to showing the logos of its competitors during Xbox broadcasts, going on to say the company is now looking at how to "adjust" this for future events. "Seeing the feedback on logos. It was a miss, and I own it. We are talking about how we adjust for future Xbox shows," she wrote(https://x.com/ashashar/status/2060501522556022919?s=46). https://twitter.com/ashashar/status/2060501522556022919?s=46 Sharma said this on the same day that Microsoft published the newest Xbox Podcast(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwYglyND1EA&rco=1) in which Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty doubled down on showing the logos of competitor consoles during the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 7. "Yes. Absolutely. We'll be very clear about what platforms a game is coming to. We want to continue the precedent; I think we have a good system going where we make it clear what platform a game is coming to," he said. In February 2025, Microsoft said it would start showing PlayStation and Nintendo logos during official broadcasts(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-showcases-will-now-have-playstation-and-nintendo-logos/1100-6529535/) as part of a transparency effort that many fans and industry observers praised. Apart from the Xbox events, it remains commonplace for gaming showcases from platform holders like PlayStation and Nintendo to only show their own logos, even if their games are multiplatform. This was seen as shifty, and many praised Microsoft for changing the tide. Other people did not embrace the change, saying it was important for Microsoft to speak directly to its loyal consumers and show them preference. With Sharma taking over as Xbox CEO, she has promised a "return to our roots"(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/new-xbox-ceo-wants-to-return-to-our-roots/1100-6538373/) and has said Xbox-exclusives could return(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/microsoft-gaming-is-dead-to-be-replaced-by-return-to-xbox-branding-report/1100-6539586/). So when Booty re-committed to the transparency push for the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase, some people were upset, prompting Sharma's response. That very response hasn't gone over entirely smoothly, though, as many are saying she is ultimately doing Xbox a disservice by trying to appease fanboys. The Xbox Games Showcase takes place this coming Sunday, June 7, and it will be immediately followed by a presentation focused exclusively on Gears of War: E-Day.
