Modern Warfare 4 Reveal Looks Imminent As Infinity Ward Teases A “Relentless” Experience

Last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 didn't exactly set the world on fire(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/black-ops-7-had-call-of-dutys-worst-sales-year-ranking-in-the-us-since-2008/1100-6537567/), with reviews being lukewarm at best. A lackluster campaign and multiplayer mode made last year's entry in the annual franchise feel skippable, but what about this year's game? Longtime Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward has begun to hype up what we presume to be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-revealed-and-it-wont-be-on-game-pass/1100-6539644/), with the studio promising an experience that is "bold" and relentless" for returning players. "We build visceral, immersive combat experiences that hit different," Infinity Ward wrote(https://x.com/InfinityWard/status/2057491681331626388/photo/1) on its social media feeds. "As a new chapter begins for this studio, we're focused on what defines us: passion, precision, obsession, and an unrelenting drive to make the best entertainment in history. Our next game is the result of that mindset. Determined. Bold. Relentless. Built by a team pushing every detail, every system, every moment to its limit. On behalf of everyone at Infinity Ward, we're proud of what we've been building and excited to finally start sharing it with you." The reveal for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is likely imminent, and Infinity Ward is known for producing some of the better entries in the franchise, including the original Modern Warfare trilogy and its 2019 reboot. Infinity Ward's Call of Duty games lean toward a sense of heightened realism with their gameplay and themes--with Call of Duty: Ghosts and Infinite Warfare being the exceptions--and the studio also co-developed the popular Call of Duty battle royale, Warzone, with Raven Software and several smaller Activision studios. Quantic Dream’s Spellcasters Chronicles Will Shut Down Next Month

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/05/21/26b8e466/specllasterschroniclesscreen2.jpg.webp) Quantic Dream has announced that its fantasy multiplayer game Spellcasters Chronicles is being shut down next month. The game launched into Steam Early Access on February 26, less than four months ago. In an X post(https://x.com/quanticdream/status/2057114218537644158?s=46) published yesterday, the team behind Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain cites that the game failed to reach a large enough audience for its development to remain sustainable “in today’s particularly challenging market environment.” Thus, the team decided to sunset the game to refocus on other projects. Quantic Dream makes a point of specifically calling out its long-in-development Star Wars Eclipse(https://gameinformer.com/the-game-awards-2021/2021/12/09/quantic-dreams-star-wars-eclipse-announced), still reportedly years from release(https://gameinformer.com/2026/04/07/quantic-dreams-star-wars-eclipse-is-reportedly-still-years-off), stating that the game is “not affected by this decision.” > Update on the Development of Spellcasters Chronicles pic.twitter.com/v3R7rCEjay(https://t.co/v3R7rCEjay) > > — Quantic Dream (@QuanticDream) May 20, 2026(https://twitter.com/QuanticDream/status/2057114218537644158?refsrc=twsrc%5Etfw) Spellcasters Chronicles will remain playable until June 19, but it has already been made unavailable to download on Steam; it appears players who have already installed the game can still access it. Money spent during its lifecycle will be eligible for a full refund upon request, and additional details will be shared in the game’s official Discord and other channels. Quantic Dream also says that this move will prompt an “internal reorganization,” with the team's verbiage suggesting potential layoffs. “We are fully committed to handling this transition with fairness, care, and respect, and will prioritize internal reassignments wherever possible to support other productions.” Game Developer reports(https://www.gamedeveloper.com/business/quantic-dream-cutting-jobs-after-scrapping-spellcasters-chronicles) today that French union Le Syndicat des Travailleureuses du Jeu Vidéo (STJV) has blasted Quantic Dream’s management of the game, calling the project a “colossal risk” whose failure could impact 95 roles at the company. Part of STJV’s lengthy statement(https://www.stjv.fr/en/2026/05/spellcasters-canceled-and-layoffs-at-quantic-dream-who-could-possibly-have-foreseen-this/) reads, “Officially, the 'unstable and difficult market' is being blamed for this decision – but it was hardly difficult to predict. This project, started 8 years ago and led by Guillaume de Fondaumière, David Cage and Grégorie Diaconu, was supposed to be a “reasonably-sized” project and was planned for a much earlier release. Over all these years, nobody questioned the business model or how the game was to become profitable. Catastrophic project management resulted in iteration after iteration, exhausting the team and leading production straight to disaster. Quantic Dream leadership points to external factors; we blame their decisions, be they financial, creative or organisational. The resulting project was ungodly expensive and aimed at a high-risk market, without matching current player demands.” Spellcasters Chronicles was revealed in October 2025 and is a free-to-play competitive multiplayer game in which two teams of three face off in matches using magic-wielding, hero-style characters. You can read our full preview published last October(https://gameinformer.com/2025/10/16/quantic-dream-is-making-spellcasters-chronicles-a-multiplayer-game-heres-what-we-think) for a better idea of Quantic Dream’s vision. The game launched into Early Access on February 26 and is the latest multiplayer live-service game to be shuttered only months after debuting. It follows in the footsteps of infamous launches such as Concord(https://gameinformer.com/state-of-play/2024/05/30/playstation-reveals-first-look-at-concords-5v5-fps-gameplay-out-this)’s barely two-week lifecycle in 2024. In 2026, we've seen the quick demises of Highguard(https://gameinformer.com/review/highguard/promising-contender), which launched in January and went offline in March(https://gameinformer.com/2026/03/03/highguard-is-shutting-down-for-good-next-week), and PUBG: Blindspot(https://gameinformer.com/2026/02/04/pubg-blindspot-a-free-to-play-5v5-tactical-shooter-spinoff-is-now-available-in-steam), a game that entered Early Access in February and was discontinued in March.

Now Lenovo is joining in on the fun with a notable sale of its own(https://clicks.trx-hub.com/xid/fandom32094gamespot?q=https%3A%2F%2Fgo.skimresources.com%3Fid%3D225336X1707200%26xs%3D1%26url%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.lenovo.com%252Fus%252Fen%252Fd%252Fdeals%252Fdoorbusters%252F&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamespot.com%2Ffeeds%2Fnews%2F&eventtype=click) that includes laptops, PCs, tablets, accessories, and more, but the standout deal for gamers is the official Xbox controller, which is currently on sale with a discount code for $39. That's the lowest price we've seen in a long time, so if you want to grab a few, the time is now. Xbox Wireless Controller(https://go.skimresources.com?id=225336X1707200&xs=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lenovo.com%2Fus%2Fen%2Fsearch%3Ffq%3D%26text%3Dxboxcontroller%26rows%3D20) $39 With Code RAGEQUIT (was $65) | Available now(https://go.skimresources.com?id=225336X1707200&xs=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lenovo.com%2Fus%2Fen%2Fsearch%3Ffq%3D%26text%3Dxboxcontroller%26rows%3D20) !(https://www.gamespot.com/a/uploads/squaremedium/1873/18732937/4698714-square-image%282%29%281%29.jpg) The Xbox Wireless Controller is a classic for a reason. It's comfy in the hands, not too light or too heavy, and can be used for PC as well as all your Xbox, iOS, and Android devices. It's got that cozy textured grip, an enhanced D-pad that won't hurt your fingertips, the button mapping functionality you can set up in the Xbox app, and you can even use it wired if you want to. It's probably the best wireless controller you can score for under $40 right now. Five colors are included in the sale, but Robot White and Deep Pink have already sold out. You can still choose from Shock Blue(https://clicks.trx-hub.com/xid/fandom32094gamespot?q=https%3A%2F%2Fgo.skimresources.com%3Fid%3D225336X1707200%26xs%3D1%26url%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.lenovo.com%252Fus%252Fen%252Fp%252Faccessories-and-software%252Fgame-consoles%252Fgaming-consolesgaming-console-accessories%252F78810012&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamespot.com%2Ffeeds%2Fnews%2F&eventtype=click), Pulse Red(https://clicks.trx-hub.com/xid/fandom32094gamespot?q=https%3A%2F%2Fgo.skimresources.com%3Fid%3D225336X1707200%26xs%3D1%26url%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.lenovo.com%252Fus%252Fen%252Fp%252Faccessories-and-software%252Fgame-consoles%252Fgaming-consolesgaming-console-accessories%252F78810011&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamespot.com%2Ffeeds%2Fnews%2F&eventtype=click), and Velocity Green(https://clicks.trx-hub.com/xid/fandom32094gamespot?q=https%3A%2F%2Fgo.skimresources.com%3Fid%3D225336X1707200%26xs%3D1%26url%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.lenovo.com%252Fus%252Fen%252Fp%252Faccessories-and-software%252Fgame-consoles%252Fgaming-consolesgaming-console-accessories%252F78810008&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamespot.com%2Ffeeds%2Fnews%2F&eventtype=click), so no matter what your shade of choice is, one of these likely fits the bill. You'll see this listed on Lenovo's site at $45, so add the ones you want to your cart and enter the code RAGEQUIT at checkout. That will take $25.99 off each, so you'll get one for $39 or two for $78. Shipping is free, making the deal even sweeter. James Bond’s Omega from 007 First Light Is Now A Real Watch You Probably Can't Afford

Back when IO's James Bond adventure, 007 First Light(https://www.gamespot.com/games/007-first-light/), was first revealed, eagle-eyed watch enthusiasts immediately noticed the new Omega watch that this latest iteration of the MI6 spy was wearing. That watch wasn't real then but now, on the eve of the game's release, Omega has started selling the Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light(https://www.omegawatches.com/watches/seamaster/diver-300-m/007-first-light/product). And no, it's not cheap. This iteration of the existing Seamaster Diver Chronograph mirrors the contemporary version quite closely, but adds some places of bronze to the dial to set it apart and tie it to the color palette of the game. The ring around the hour and minutes sub-dial, as well as the seconds hand, are now coated in nine-karat bronze gold, which makes it stand out a lot more than the regular, monochromatic version. You'll be able to see 007 First Light stamped on the sapphire crystal caseback, which showcases the watch's beautiful movement. This edition doesn't have a premium over the standard version, although given that this watch will still retail for $9,400, it's not something all fans of First Light are likely going to bundle with their game purchase. It's also the first time Omega has released a Bond-specific watch that wasn't first seen in a Bond film. James Bond has worn Omega since GoldenEye in 1995(https://www.omegawatches.com/chronicle/2020-the-james-bond-watch), replacing Rolex as the spy's watch brand of choice. The last release came alongside Daniel Craig's last Bond film, No Time To Die, with the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition. Without a new film on the horizon, or a replacement for Daniel Craig, having a new edition tied to the re-launch of James Bond in the video game space makes sense. New Resident Evil Movie Poster Hints At Umbrella's Involvement

The upcoming Resident Evil movie won't tell the story of any of the video games(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/resident-evil-movie-director-knows-fans-of-the-games-may-not-be-happy/1100-6539740/)--a choice that writer and director Zach Cregger knows may upset fans. But the newest promo for the horror flick does strongly hint at Umbrella Corp.'s(https://residentevil.fandom.com/wiki/UmbrellaCorporation) involvement. That's fitting with the movie's protagonist Bryan eventually finding his way into Raccoon City, as Umbrella is responsible for the zombie outbreak there. On X(https://x.com/ResidentEvil/status/2057446181056413786/photo/1), the official Resident Evil account posted two new posters for the film. The first image features a car on a forested road encountering what looks like an infected woman. Taking place at night, the headlights and red taillights create a subtle but effective Umbrella logo. > From the mind of Zach Cregger, director of Weapons and Barbarian. Filmed for IMAX – Resident Evil is in theatres 9.18. This image connects back to Resident Evil's debut trailer,(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/resident-evil-movie-trailer-debuts-highlighting-a-terrifying-new-vision/1100-6539639/) which saw infected falling from buildings and splattering on the ground as Bryan ran for his life. Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Will Feature 8 New Endgame Missions That Pit Edward Kenway Against A Historical Pirate Hunter

!Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Reveal Screenshots(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/04/23/1192bea5/assets2026041776929556acbfrscreenshotstatic16x9navalgameplay230426615pmcest.jpg.webp) I recently previewed Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced(https://gameinformer.com/product/assassins-creed-black-flag-resynced) – and you can read my thoughts on it after going hands-on with it for a couple of hours here(https://gameinformer.com/preview/2026/05/14/a-textbook-remake-and-all-the-better-for-it) – and during the preview event, I got the chance to speak to some of the developers at Ubisoft Singapore about the game. It was in these interviews that I learned about eight new endgame missions being added to the narrative of Assassin's Creed Black Flag as part of the Resynced remake. Specifically, these brand-new endgame missions will pit protagonist Edward Kenway against the historical pirate hunter Robert Miller. Speaking to game director Richard Knight, it sounds like these missions will add more texture to Blackbeard's narrative in Black Flag, particularly regarding how his story ends in the game and why it ends that way. "These additional endgame missions give us room to resolve that," Knight tells me. "Like, 'What happened there?' Can we follow up those little plot threads so that you have kind of a more full experience, should you choose to go down that route? But, you can still play the same sort of epic Edward saga the way you did back then because these endgame missions take place after Edward's original story wraps up. These endgame missions aren't the only new pieces of content being added to Black Flag in this remake. Creative director Paul Fu says there are new side missions to complete and new islands to explore. Plus, there are "new ending missions for beloved characters," too. If you add up all the new content in Black Flag Resynced, Fu says it amounts to about 6 hours of additional gameplay. Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on July 9. What do you hope to see in these new endgame missions? Let us know in the comments below!
