Mina The Hollower Is Creating An Unexpected Problem For Other Games

Yacht Club Games' Shovel Knight(https://www.gamespot.com/games/shovel-knight/) is one of the most widely-loved platformers out there. With almost 10,000 "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews on Steam, it's not hard to see why game developers are pushing their release dates either side of YCG's upcoming action platformer Mina the Hollower(https://www.gamespot.com/games/mina-the-hollower/), especially games in a similar genre. Borbware's Emuurom(https://www.gamespot.com/games/emuurom/)was originally set for a May 29 release date, the same day as Mina, but in a video posted to YouTube, the studio explained that the game will now be released slightly earlier, on May 25. "We have no other choice but to change the launch date," the video says. Devolver Digital has now also posted a similar video, this time postponing the launch of Dark Scrolls(https://www.gamespot.com/games/dark-scrolls/) to June 22. "Originally, we were going to release Dark Scrolls on May 28, but it turns out we're going to be a little bit busy playing Mina the Hollower when it comes out on May 29 because we have our priorities in the right place, and I already requested it off from work," the video explains. https://youtu.be/FAYdhfKOjw As Yacht Club Games' David D'Angelo explained to GameSpot, though, there was originally supposed to be a little more direct collaboration between the games. "We worked with Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo to try to make sure we picked a date that didn't conflict with anyone, and we landed on 12 AM ET May 29. I guess that didn't help! "We were already in discussion with Devolver and the Dark Scrolls team for a month or so about how our releases were coming up and a Steam Bundle might be cool to help promote the launches. They announced their date on May 5; we announced on May 6. Then mid email chain discussing the bundles, we realized we had essentially picked the same release date...which I followed up by sending profuse apologies to Doinksoft for screwing up. And they were totally cool with it, talked, and decided to push theirs back. "They said it was nice to have a little breathing room since they were going to be at Bitsummit anyway. And they wanted to play Mina on day one." The imminent arrival of Mina the Hollower comes after the game's successful Kickstarter campaign raised over $1.4 million. It was originally set to release in October 2025, but was delayed in order to allow the team to "apply some more polish and balancing."

Lords of the Fallen 2's Epic Exclusivity Deal Canceled🖥 PC, Multi-platform

Lords of the Fallen 2's Epic Exclusivity Deal Canceled

In 2024, developer CI Games signed a deal with Epic Games that would have made the Epic Game Store the exclusive PC outlet for the upcoming Lords of the Fallen 2(https://www.gamespot.com/games/lords-of-the-fallen-ii/). Now, the agreement between Epic and Ci Games has been terminated. CI Games has taken the unusual step of posting its separation agreement(https://cigames.com/en/ci-games-se-20-2026-disclosure-of-confidential-information-regarding-the-conclusion-of-separation-agreement-with-epic-games-inc/) with Epic Games, which was apparently settled on April 14. The document explains that the delay in revealing its existence was because it would have "prejudiced the company's legitimate interests" if it had been released any sooner. It also describes the breakup as "conditional in nature," and it doesn't elaborate any further on the reasons Epic and CI Games parted ways. The separation agreement explicitly states that it won't affect the Epic assets that were used in the creation of Lords of the Fallen 2, including Unreal Engine 5 and any infrastructure that was built into the game to utilize Epic Online Services.
