📱 MobileFinal Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is the latest Square Enix mobile game to be shut down
Unfortunately, the long, winding road of Square Enix shutdowns is claiming another victim today. Fans of Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will be sad to learn that the mobile spinoff is, unfortunately, being shuttered. End of service is set for October 6th, with in-game purchases already halted. Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis was first released back in 2023, taking you through the events of the original 1997 classic Final Fantasy VII as well as follow-up media such as Advent Children and Crisis Core. Despite this, it doesn't seem to have had the legs for Square Enix to reach beyond its second anniversary. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/final-fantasy-vii-ever-crisis/shutting-down/)

For fans of Shangri-La Frontier, the most recent ShanFro Day (an informal fan celebration of the series) will have been doubly exciting with their latest look at Netmarble's upcoming mobile game spinoff, The Seven Colossi. And while it's more focused on the story and setting, Shangri-La Frontier: The Seven Colossi's latest PV is more than worth a watch. The main thing here is reintroducing main character Sunraku, an expert gamer who's honed his skills speedrunning broken games, and the bunny Emul. 📱 MobilePokémon Go developers Niantic change name to Scopely Explore
Eventually, all things have to change. Grass grows and dies, water ebbs and flows, and game studios change their names. But in the case of Niantic, it's still notable enough, as the Pokémon Go developers are rebranding as Scopely Explore! So, does that mean anything for you and me? Well, it might. Scopely is, of course, the studio behind Monopoly Go, and they're backed by a huge amount of money, as aptly demonstrated by their acquisition of Niantic for over $3.4 billion, which is certainly not to be sniffed at. The rebrand marks the formal end of the acquisition, but Niantic itself is not quite gone. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/pokemon-go/niantic-change-name-to-scopely-epxlore/)

📱 MobileBlack Desert Mobile introduces whopping new combat skill overhaul
The longer any MMORPG hangs on, the louder the calls for change. Any change that is. And some of the best out there have found a way to balance tweaks to their core experience, maintaining the essence while reinventing it. Which is what Black Desert Mobile will hope to do with their new combat overhaul. Central to this combat overhaul is the new Transcendent class system, which unifies the previous Ascension and Awakening classes into a single category. Alongside this, active skills have been tweaked and are now available up to level 20 with the new Advanced Skillbook item. ... 📱 MobileDragon Quest Smash/Grow kicks off new collaboration event with Dragon Quest VI
Dragon Quest is a series with a nearly immaculate pedigree. A massive hit in its home country, and carrying on the legacy of Akira Toriyama in its iconic monster designs. Now, in Dragon Quest Smash/Grow, you can celebrate the series once more as they collaborate with the classic Dragon Quest VI. Dragon Quest VI will be instantly recognisable to longtime players as a 90s classic of the series. And in Dragon Quest Smash/Grow, you'll be able to meet fan-favourite characters such as Rek and Carver in a brand-new set of story content. But that's not all that's being added... ... 📱 MobileClub Soko is a Sokoban-style puzzler with plenty of shoving, coming soon to mobile
I've seen plenty of wacky concepts for puzzlers, but I think that Club Soko is the first time I've seen one about crashing a nightclub. But this upcoming Sokoban puzzler, coming soon to iOS and Android, may have more beneath the surface than just a wacky adventure into the city nightlife. You play as graffiti artist Maude, who delves into the labyrinthine Club Soko to tag as much of the club as possible. And as you might expect from a Sokoban-style puzzler, that means making your way through obstacle courses of drunk dancers, aggressive bouncers and amorous partygoers, shoving and leaping as you go. ... 📱 MobileSultan's Game sees you working to keep a mad king satisfied, or risk losing your head
Throughout all forms of media, the idea of defying a mad tyrant has been a provocative one. And the same is true of gaming, as anyone who's either been or had to grapple with a particularly loathsome regent in Crusader Kings can attest. But in Sultan's Game, your head is, quite literally, on the line. Arriving July 24th for iOS and Android, Sultan's Game is a story-driven deckbuilder that sees you taking on the role of a courtier in a nebulous, vaguely Middle Eastern royal court. The titular Sultan has decided to task his advisors with completing seemingly impossible tasks in a short span of time. Fail, and it's your head. ... 📱 MobileMoonlight Peaks is out now for Android, promising a bloodcurdlingly cosy experience
Over the years, we've seen everything from an agrarian lifestyle to taking care of a graveyard being 'cosified'. So it was only a matter of time before the most terrifying monsters of all, vampires, enjoyed the same treatment. And in Moonlight Peaks, out now for Android, you'll find these creatures of the night know how to live or... unlive, I guess? Moonlight Peaks takes you to the titular town as a young vampire, looking to prove to their far more traditional (and stereotypically sinister) father that a life outside of lurking in crypts is possible. You'll make friends with the inhabitants, tend to crops and establish your own cosy little gothic homestead. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/moonlight-peaks/out-now-on-android/)
📱 MobileAres: The Iron Vanguard opens pre-registration on Android and iOS
Upcoming sci-fi RPG Ares: The Iron Vanguard has now opened pre-registration on iOS and Android. Set to arrive later this year, The Iron Vanguard reimagines the Ares universe as a mostly single-player experience compared to its MMORPG roots. But it's not slim on gameplay with options for co-op alongside a solid solo experience. Taking place in the year 3400, you're part of a task force aimed at stopping a new evil from overtaking the galaxy. Exploring and doing battle in massive cities and across uncharted planets, you'll switch in real-time between different Battle Suits, boasting radically altered abilities, as you fight for humanity's survival. ...
