Subnautica 2 Dev Outlines Upcoming Content Drop, Including Brand-New Region

After all of the drama that played out in court(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/subnautica-2-publisher-forced-to-reinstate-fired-ceo-judge-blames-kraftons-chatgpt-legal-advice/1100-6538819/), Subnautica 2(https://www.gamespot.com/games/subnautica-2/) has gotten off to a hot start(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/subnautica-2-overcomes-pre-release-controversy-to-become-massive-hit-on-steam/1100-6539956/). There's still work to be done on this early-access release, but Unknown Worlds has now shared some of its plans to improve the game and previewed its next big update. In a new video, Subnautica 2 design lead Anthony Gallegos teased the upcoming content drop, which will introduce the Collector Leviathan's home as a new region. That update will feature a new chassis "that brings back one of the most requested player experiences," as well as fresh creatures and resources. Gallegos also teased it by saying, "I really think it's going to be the scariest the game has been yet, and I can't wait for you to try it." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnnucBrqeKQ Following the most-recent hotfixes, Unknown Worlds is planning some smaller updates, including proximity voice chat "as soon as possible." Additional Biomod options are being added earlier in the game and players will be able to unlock more passive slots as well. Gallegos noted that players should be able to notice Blight encounters more easily, thanks to some adjustments to the aggression of the parasites. The dev team is also looking to allow players to replay the voice logs from their PDAs. According to Gallegos, Subnautica 2 has sold 4 million copies across Xbox Series X|S and PC since its launch, not counting the players from Game Pass. The game isn't currently available on PlayStation 5(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/subnautica-2-for-ps5-heres-what-we-know-so-far/1100-6539996/), and it's unknown when or if Subnautica 2 will be going cross-platform. The early-access period for Subnautica 2 is expected to last three years.

Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis Used AI At One Point, But Devs Say All AI Assets Have Been 'Replaced Or Refined By Humans'

!Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis Trailer Release Date PlayStation State of Play(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/6aeadcac/tr3.jpg.webp) We got another look at Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/tomb-raider-legacy-of-atlantis), which remakes Lara Croft's original 1996 adventure in Unreal Engine 5(https://www.gameinformer.com/the-game-awards-2025/2025/12/11/tomb-raider-legacy-of-atlantis-is-a-remake-of-the-first-game-in-the), during yesterday's PlayStation State of Play(https://www.gameinformer.com/round-up/2026/06/02/heres-everything-shown-during-the-june-2026-playstation-state-of-play), where we also learned it's been delayed from 2026 to February 12, 2027(https://www.gameinformer.com/state-of-play/2026/06/02/tomb-raider-legacy-of-atlantis-gets-february-2027-release-date-in-new). Those who have visited the game's Steam page(https://store.steampowered.com/app/3558670/TombRaiderLegacyofAtlantis/) since have discovered, however, that an "AI Generated Content Disclosure" is attached, stating that AI assets have since been replaced or refined by humans. AI has become a problem for the games industry in more ways than one. Not only is it leading to countless layoffs at studios and publishers around the world – with companies shortsightedly believing AI generation can replace the work done by real human hands – but it's also led to a RAM shortage in computing parts, leading to PlayStation(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/03/27/sony-announces-playstation-5-and-portal-price-increases-coming-next-week), Xbox(https://www.gameinformer.com/2025/05/01/xbox-console-and-accessory-price-increases-begin-today-80-first-party-games-starting), Nintendo(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/05/08/the-switch-2-is-getting-a-price-increase), and even Steam(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/05/27/valve-just-raised-the-price-of-the-steam-deck-by-hundreds-of-dollars) to raise prices for their respective hardware. Whether you're someone affected by layoffs or struggling to enjoy the hobby because of rising prices, it can be a disappointment to see a game you're excited about utilize generative AI technology. Case in point, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. Here's what the disclosure says: "AI-assisted tools were used during development to support some early exploration and temporary development content. Any AI-assisted assets were either replaced or refined by humans in order to maintain the creative and artistic vision of the development team." It's nice to see that AI assets have at least been replaced or refined by humans, but it's still a shame to see that generative AI technology was used at all, especially when you consider that the various generative AI models out there are largely reliant on scraping existing human-made work on the internet. For now, we'll have to take the word of developers Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog on the AI content in the game. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 12, 2027. How do you feel about this AI content disclosure? Let us know in the comments below!

Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis Features “AI-Assisted Assets” That Were “Refined By Humans”

Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog have confirmed that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, the upcoming remake of the 1996 game, was made in part with AI tools. The game's product page on Steam(https://store.steampowered.com/app/3558670/TombRaiderLegacyofAtlantis/) contains a disclosure about the use of AI, and it says the developers used "AI-assisted tools" to support "some early exploration and temporary development content." "Any AI-assisted assets were either replaced or refined by humans in order to maintain the creative and artistic vision of the development team," the disclosure states. One of the newly released images for Legacy of Atlantis shows Lara dual-wielding pistols, while two more pistols remain holstered. People online said this was odd and possibly related to AI. That remains to be seen, however. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/lara.jpg?w=1024) In another newly released image, we can see Lara wielding two pistols and the holsters are empty. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/LaraCroft.jpg?w=1024) The use of artificial intelligence tools in game development has increased, as developers look to find ways to make games more efficiently to help combat rising development costs. The use of AI has not been without controversy, of course, as people continue to fear that the use of the technology will negatively affect the business of games and the people who make them, and further enrich executives. Crystal Dynamics, Flying Wild Hog, and the Tomb Raider franchise are owned by Embracer, a behemoth holding company whose CEO is a big believer in AI for helping to increase profits(https://www.gamedeveloper.com/business/embracer-ceo-acknowledges-ai-concerns-but-says-the-tech-can-become-a-creative-catalyst-). Following a delay(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/tomb-raider-legacy-of-atlantis-gets-out-of-the-way-of-gta-6-with-apparent-delay-to-2027/), Legacy of Atlantis is now releasing in February 2027. It will be followed later in the year by a brand-new Tomb Raider game, Tomb Raider: Catalyst.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds, The Open World Survival Game, Will Launch On PS5 As A PlayStation Plus Game Later This Year

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/907378d5/Dragonwilds%20Key%20Art.jpg.webp) Jagex has revealed that RuneScape: Dragonwilds(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/runescape-dragonwilds), its open-world survival game(https://www.gameinformer.com/2025/03/31/jagex-reveals-a-new-open-world-survival-runescape-title) that launched into Early Access on Steam last year(https://www.gameinformer.com/2025/04/15/runescape-dragonwilds-surprise-launches-into-early-access-today), is coming to PlayStation 5 later this year. It has a $29.99 price tag on Steam today, but PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can download it for no additional cost when it launches. Notably, this is the first time in 25 years of RuneScape history that a game in the series has come to consoles, and while it's not the OG RuneScape MMORPG that many grew up on and still play today, the one million copies it's sold in Steam Early Access indicate it's a hit amongst the RuneScape community. Jagex announced this news today during the PlayStation State of Play(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/05/20/playstation-state-of-play-set-for-june-will-feature-marvels-wolverine) with a brand new trailer highlighting some of the fantasy fun you can expect. !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/4f6d9350/rsdwdwgpss2.jpg.webp) In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, dragons have awoken on the forgotten continent of Ashfall, setting up the mission that you and up to three others must slay the Dragon Queen. You'll uncover ancient civilizations, come to understand transformative magic, and, of course, build the medieval home of your dreams. Along the way, Jagex says you can expect to battle legendary RuneScape creatures like Zogres, Black Knights, and even new foes like the Garou, all while listening to reorchestrated classic tracks and new ones too. "Bringing Dragonwilds and its mix of crafting, survival, and quintessential RuneScape-ness to new platforms like PlayStation 5 is key to unleashing its magic to more players around the gaming globe," RuneScape: Dragonwilds executive producer Jesse America writes in a press release. "We're incredibly proud to have RuneScape: Dragonwilds launch on PlayStation Plus later this year. This means even more gamers can effortlessly team up and explore Ashenfall, go questing across its dangerous regions, skill up more and more abilities, and ultimately survive its thrall." Here are some new RuneScape: Dragonwilds screenshots: A release date was not given, but RuneScape: Dragonwilds is set to launch sometime later this year. It's already available on PC via Steam Early Access. Empulse Is A 6v6 Titanfall 2-Like FPS From The Splitgate Devs

!Empulse Titanfall 2 Shooter FPS 6v6 Splitgate Devs 1047 Games Early Access(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/fa72cba5/empulse11.jpeg.webp) Splitgate(https://www.gameinformer.com/2025/12/04/splitgate-2-has-been-rebooted-as-splitgate-arena-reloaded-and-it-relaunches-this-month) developer 1047 Games has released the first-ever cinematic trailer for Empulse(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/empulse-early-access), its in-development 6v6 first-person shooter, and it sure does remind us of Titanfall 2(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/titanfall-2), but that's by design because the team is not hiding its inspiration. The game is set to launch into Early Access sometime in the future, though it doesn't specify on which platforms. However, you can wishlist the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam, so it's presumably at least going to be playable there. The cinematic trailer gives a quick look at this neo-futuristic world where Empulse's first-person shooting action takes place, and of course, there are grapple hooks, wall-running, jump pads, and mechs. Alongside this cinematic trailer, released yesterday, 1047 Games says it will reveal the first-ever look at Empulse gameplay on Sunday, June 7, during the PC Gaming Show (just one of the many Summer Games Fest-adjacent showcases(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/05/19/the-2026-summer-showcase-schedule)). Check out the Empulse cinematic reveal trailer for yourself below: 1047 Games describes Empulse as a "fast-paced 6v6 movement shooter set in the post-utopian streets of Freehold," where wall-running, grappling, holojumps, and more form the foundation of every fight and "where player-controllable mechs become the most contested objective." The team also makes clear that Empulse is directly inspired by Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall series. "Our dream has always been to be a multi-game studio, and this is the kind of game we love making: a fast, arcade-style FPS gameplay that rewards player expression and skill," a post on X(https://x.com/PlayEmpulse/status/2061508486295704027) from the studio reads. "That is the type of gameplay we love, and Empulse is the purest version of that idea we have built so far. We have a lot of Titanfall fans on this team, and we have heard a lot of the same from our community over the years. More movement. More verticality. More ways to express yourself in a fight. Empulse is our answer to that." In Empulse, you can wall-run forward and backward, use a grappling hook to swing and close gaps, and jump via holojumps to experience a snowboard-like sensation of momentum. You can also deploy Plasma Activated Infusion of Nano-Tech (P.A.I.N.T.). Bombs to make different surfaces behave in unique ways that include speed and jump boosts, new lines that didn't exist prior to the deployment, and more. Here are some additional Empulse screenshots: The studio says mechs are the "true power spike" in Empulse, adding that they change the energy of a match the second they arrive. "Instead of being something every player calls in throughout each game, mechs spawn on the map as the most powerful objective in the match, and your crew has to fight for control of them," the post on X reads. "Think of it like fighting over the rocket launcher in classic Halo, except this rocket launcher walks, has unique abilities, and a massive health pool." Empulse is expected to launch into Early Access sometime this year. Do you think this features the right Titanfall vibes?
