🍄 Nintendo Switch, Multi-platformNintendo is raising Switch 2 prices
Nintendo is raising the price of its Switch 2 console globally, "in light of changes in market conditions," and is now forecasting a drop in sales over the next year. Starting September 1st, the Switch 2 will cost $499.99 in the US, up from its current $449.99 price. At the same time, prices will also &8230;
🍄 Nintendo Switch, Multi-platformThe Nintendo Switch 2 Is Officially Getting A Price Hike In September
Amid pressure from investors(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/switch-2-reportedly-too-good-a-deal-investors-want-that-fixed/1100-6539811/), Nintendo has announced that it will be increasing the price of the Nintendo Switch 2(https://www.gamespot.com/games/nintendo-switch-2/) to $500 from September 1, 2026. The new pricing is a $50 increase from the Switch 2's current $450 price point. Nintendo announced the price hike in today's earnings release for the 2026 financial year, where ongoing hardware pressures continue to impact the company's bottom line. The pricing changes are being implemented "in light of changes in market conditions, and after considering the global business outlook," Nintendo said in a press release(https://www.nintendo.co.jp/corporate/release/en/2026/260508.html). The $50 price increase is at the lower end of the range anticipated by analysts(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/switch-2-price-could-go-up-by-50-or-100-expert-predicts/1100-6537884/). Multiple regions are set to receive a similar price bump on September 1, including the US, Canada, and Europe, however Japanese consumers will be the first to be impacted, with the local price for the system set to increase from May 25. 🍄 Nintendo Switch, Multi-platformStar Fox Is Back, So What's Nintendo's Excuse For Other Abandoned Franchises?
Maybe it&039;s time to dust off F-Zero and some other properties sitting on the shelf.
🍄 Nintendo Switch, Multi-platformStar Fox On Switch 2 Isn't Just A Retread, It's A Fresh Start
The internet's reaction to Nintendo's surprise announcement of a new Star Fox game was, to put it charitably, mixed(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fans-cant-stop-clowning-on-the-latest-star-fox-reveal/1100-6539829/). The new game is actually in many ways an old game--a remake of Star Fox 64, with fully revamped graphics, new animated cutscenes with a more realistic style for Fox and his crew, and other bells and whistles. For those hoping for an all-new Star Fox game, it was a letdown. But take heart, Arwing aces: This appears to be part of a calculated strategy to finally make Fox McCloud the star (fox) he deserves to be. Star Fox has never been the most popular of Nintendo's franchises, as compared to others like Mario or Zelda. Star Fox fans widely agree that Star Fox 64 is hands-down the best game of the series, which means it peaked almost 30 years ago. Since then, the series has often felt adrift, meandering between experiments like Star Fox Command and Star Fox Guard, remakes like Star Fox 64 3D, and quasi-remakes like Star Fox Zero. Now, it seems, Nintendo has decided that Fox deserves better, and it's doing all it can to make him a household name. The clearest indication is his shoehorned cameo in The Super Mario Galaxy movie, which was virtually a commercial for Star Fox. After a stylish anime intro, the other characters just take a beat to openly talk about how awesome Fox is. Toad actually calls him the coolest guy he's ever met in his life. It's not subtle! The message is clear: Hey kids, this is Fox McCloud, and he rules. 🍄 Nintendo Switch, Multi-platformFans Can't Stop Clowning On The Latest Star Fox Reveal
Star Fox(https://www.gamespot.com/games/star-fox/) fans had their hopes briefly raised today when Nintendo revealed a surprise Star Fox Direct, only to discover that the new game for the Switch 2(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-fox-for-nintendo-switch-2-announced/1100-6539827/) is doomed to be yet another remake of Star Fox 64. What's more, the uncomfortably realistic character redesigns have not gone down well with Star Fox's fanbase--but at least the meme game is on point. The news of yet another Star Fox 64 remake has been met with some incredulity among fans, considering Star Fox will be the third remake Nintendo has made for Star Fox 64--which itself is a reboot of the original Star Fox. With only 10 total games in the franchise, half of them are now essentially the same game. Recent leaks out of Nintendo had claimed a new Star Fox game was in development(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time-remake-new-star-fox-game-in-development-for-switch-2-report/1100-6539069/), giving fans hope that a sequel was on its way to refresh the long-neglected franchise. It's possible that a new game is still yet to be announced by Nintendo, but fans are starting to feel that the series will forever be haunted by the singularity of Star Fox 64. Like the N64 original, the new remake is a rail shooter game where you'll get to pilot the Arwing jet, unleash laser fire, and do a good ol' barrel roll to evade danger. The new Switch 2 features include added mouse controls, and a second player can hop into the Arwing gunner seat while you focus on flying. One of the other additions to the game is a Battle Mode for head-to-head action against other players who take control of Star Wolf, challenge modes for an extra layer of replayability, and support for GameShare. Star Fox is one of several Nintendo first-party games on the way, as Yoshi and the Mysterious Book(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/yoshis-new-game-rethinks-what-a-platformer-can-be/1100-6539505/) arrives on May 21 and Splatoon Raiders(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/splatoon-raiders-buying-guide/1100-6539546/) will be released on July 23. 🍄 Nintendo Switch, Multi-platformStar Fox For Nintendo Switch 2 Announced
As part of a surprise Direct presentation aired on May 6, Nintendo officially confirmed a Star Fox game for Switch 2. Appropriately enough, it's called … Star Fox, and if you feel like you've played it before, you're not entirely wrong. The Nintendo Switch 2 Star Fox is based on Star Fox 64, as was the Wii U's Star Fox Zero. The visuals have been completely overhauled, and the classic team of Fox, Slippy, Falco, and Peppy all make a return. The stage layouts are just as you remember from Star Fox 64, and though the dialogue between characters is a little different than the original version, it should be recognizable to longtime players. While the Nintendo 64 version had very limited cinematics, there will be many additional cutscenes in this new version, including new mission briefings. During combat, you'll be right at home with the Arwing, which is capable of firing lasers and charged shots, as well as performing somersaults and the classic barrel roll. If you want a more PC-like experience, you can use the mouse controls on the Switch 2, and you can also hand a second player a Joy-Con 2 controller to act as the gunner while you fly the Arwing. Oh, and if you want a really classic experience, the game even supports the Nintendo 64 controller. Star Fox Remakes Star Fox 64 On Switch 2 This June
!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/05/06/9b12640f/sf1.jpg.webp) During a surprise Nintendo Direct(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePZeyh5q9R8&t=788s) today, legendary designers Shigeru Miyamoto and Yoshiaki Koizumi announced a Switch 2 remake of Star Fox 64. The news comes hot on the heels of Fox McCloud's appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Players will visit iconic locations from the Nintendo 64 classic Star Fox 64, including difficulty settings and a variety of stages, including Landmaster, Blue Marine, and All-Range Mode sequences. Stage layouts are the same from Star Fox 64, but the dialogue, graphics, and character designs have been completely revamped. Star Fox will also include all new cutscenes. Players can also tackle challenge missions with new tasks in each mission that you won't find in the standard game. These missions will be available in Normal or Expert mode. And since it's on the Switch 2, you can play using Mouse Controls, including co-op play where one plays on one Joy-Con as the pilot, and the other uses the Mouse Controls as the gunner. The game even supports the N64 controller (the Switch version) for a more nostalgic experience. But it's not just the single-player mode, as Battle Mode returns from Star Fox 64. Here, players can battle it out as either Star Fox or Star Wolf on Corneria, Fichina, and Sector Y. These matches can be played either through matchmaking or in private matches. And true to Star Fox 64, you can play Battle Mode using local GameShare. You can also use GameChat with the game, including a character avatar feature that makes your on-camera appearance look like a Star Fox character of your choice. We don't have long to wait before the Star Fox franchise returns, as Star Fox arrives on Switch 2 on June 25. !(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/05/06/63467623/starfox02.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/05/06/b18a3247/starfox03.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/05/06/f26f53ae/starfox04.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/05/06/2dcb7cf7/starfox05.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/05/06/481e84de/starfox06.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/05/06/a7fc3cc1/starfox01.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/05/06/d332885f/starfox07.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/05/06/704bfa9f/starfox08.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/05/06/aea62ae8/starfox09.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/05/06/fec97052/starfox10.jpg.webp)!(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/entitybrowserthumbnail/public/2026/05/06/ce58a0a9/starfox11.jpg.webp)
🍄 Nintendo Switch, Multi-platformBorderlands 4 On Switch 2 Is "Doable," Take-Two Says After Gearbox Said Platform Was "Perfect" For It
Borderlands 4 on Switch 2 has been delayed indefinitely after developer Gearbox announced that it had paused development(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/borderlands-4-on-switch-2-has-paused-development-and-might-never-release/1100-6537897/) on the game. But a pause is all it is, claims Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick. Fans fearing that the Switch 2 edition has been canceled can seemingly breathe a sigh of relief. Zelnick told Game File(https://www.gamefile.news/p/bioshock-gta-nfl-civ7-take-two-strauss-zelnick) that the decision to pause development on the Switch 2 came down to Gearbox wanting to first address the issues with Borderlands 4 on PC(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/borderlands-4-boss-calls-people-4k-stubborn-disputes-reports-of-performance-issues/1100-6534746/). "We've been addressing those challenges, and we want to make sure that we've fully addressed Borderlands 4 from a consumer's point of view before we bring it to more platforms," he said.
