🎮 Multi-platformGhost Of Yotei Expansion, Roguelike Survival Mode, And Complete Edition Announced
Developer Sucker Punch has made several announcements about Ghost of Yotei, including a new expansion, a new combat survival mode, and a complete edition. The new narrative expansion is called Echoes of Sekigahara, and it's split between the present day and flashbacks. Players will meet a new character, Nagato, who is "a figure from Atsu's past." The expansion also takes players to new places. In the present, they'll visit a valley once inhabited by The Snake and his followers, the Vipers. In the past, players will take part in the Battle of Sekigahara. New enemies, weapons, armor sets, and dyes are also included in the expansion. The new combat survival mode, meanwhile, is called Most Wanted. The single-player mode is "our spin on a roguelike," Sucker Punch said. "You’ll accept bounties in order to start new runs, where taking down enemies will earn you perks, as well as unlock additional characters to play as," the studio said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bQrrWCRkMY More details are coming later, but for now, the announcement trailer shows that Atsu will fight with her dual katana setup, while Oyuki battles with the kusarigama and Nagata does damage with a yari. Finally, the developer announced a $70 Complete Edition of Ghost of Yotei. In addition to the base game and everything mentioned above, players get the the online co-op mode Ghost of Yotei Legends. The bundle also includes all of the content from the game's digital deluxe edition. The Complete Edition is available now, but Echoes of Skigahara and Most Wanted don't launch until October 1. Anyone who buys the Complete Edition by September 30 will also get the Sakai armor on October 1--this armor is based on the family armor of Jin from Ghost of Tsushima. Anyone who already owns Ghost of Yotei can get Echoes of Skigahara and Most Wanted by purchasing the Complete Edition upgrade for $15. Additionally, a new patch coming October 1 adds the Beauty of Yotei mode, which is a screensaver-type experience that shows off stunning environments from the game that players can display on their TV. The October 1 patch also adds new quality-of-life updates, including the ability to keep an armor set's appearance while using a different set's stats. A high-contrast accessibility option is being added as well. In addition to these new Ghost of Yotei updates, a Ghost of Tsushima movie is in the works with John Wick's director attached(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/john-wick-director-gives-an-update-on-the-ghost-of-tsushima-movie/1100-6518807/).

🎮 Multi-platformTake-Two CEO Won’t Be In GTA 6 After His Surprise Appearance In WWE 2K26
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick unexpectedly appeared in WWE 2K26 as a playable character(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/now-you-can-beat-gta-6-answers-out-of-the-take-two-boss-in-wwe-2k26/), and now the executive has explained how that came to be while also confirming that you won't see him in GTA 6(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/grand-theft-auto-6-everything-we-know/1100-6503729/). Zelnick told IGN(https://www.ign.com/articles/take-two-boss-strauss-zelnick-says-he-asked-to-be-a-playable-character-in-wwe-2k26-because-i-thought-it-would-be-funny-for-insiders-but-dont-expect-him-to-pop-up-in-gta-6) that his appearance in WWE 2K26 came about simply by asking the team to do it for him, and not because there was a big internal or external demand for him to be added to the game. "I asked, and then I went on the soundstage, and I did motion capture and we all had fun with it. But no, this was a rare moment where I said, ‘I think this would be fun. Let's do this.’ And everyone's like, ‘Okay,'" he said. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Screenshot-2026-08-12-at-9.44.42-AM.png?w=636) GTA 6 releases in November, and Zelnick won't be in it. Zelnick said he loves WWE and "thought it would be funny for insiders and maybe fun for some consumers." "By the way, a lot of people played it, as it turns out, it did very well. But the online response was sort of like, ‘Huh?’ Which I think I deserved," he said. After his appearance in WWE 2K26, many--including us here at GameSpot(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-is-100-days-away-and-we-have-100-questions/)--wondered if Zelnick may appear in GTA 6 in some capacity. Will we see him in the open-world crime game? "You will not," Zelnick said. GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game will be shown off in detail on August 27 via Netflix(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/netflix-gta-6-exclusive-seems-doomed/), and a lot of people are upset about Rockstar effectively paywalling(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-being-paywalled-behind-netflix-is-upsetting-a-lot-of-people-but-its-a-sign-of-the-times/) the game's latest trailer.
🎮 Multi-platformControl Resonant Has No Parry Mechanic And I Don’t Know How To Feel About That
Nothing beats the satisfying feeling of successfully parrying an attack, but don't expect to rely on that counter in Control Resonant(https://www.gamespot.com/games/control-resonant/). In fact, the game features no parry gameplay mechanic at all, as developer Remedy Entertainment wants players to get into the thick of things and chase enemies down in the follow-up to Control. Speaking to IGN(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/beast-of-reincarnation-perfect-parry-ping-makes-me-want-to-git-gud/), game director Mikael Kasurinen confirmed that players won't be able to deflect any attacks in the upcoming action-RPG. Remedy did experiment with using that mechanic in the game, but it ultimately didn't fit their vision for a fast-paced action game. "The idea behind the combat system of Control Resonant is that offense is the best defense," Remedy said. The studio added that when it prototyped a parry in the game, action slowed down as players waited for enemies to make the first move, instead of initiating an attack and pushing forward. Players will have plenty of options available to them with the Aberrant--a Swiss-army knife of offensive potential--as they can deal out quick attacks with dual blades or smash through defenses by transforming the tool into a cartoonishly massive hammer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLr0QNBx87o&pp=ygUZZ2FtZXNwb3QgY29udHJvbCByZXNvbmFudA%3D%3D Not having any options to parry is something of a rarity in modern-day action games. Dark Souls developer From Software created one of the best-feeling versions of the mechanic in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Doom: The Dark Ages had first-person deflections with the brutal Shield Saw, and the recent release Beast of Reincarnation also has a gratifying option for bouncing attacks back(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/beast-of-reincarnation-perfect-parry-ping-makes-me-want-to-git-gud/) at enemies. Parrying has become very commonplace in modern action games, so not including it is somewhat unusual. Control Resonant launches on September 24, but if you're planning to get the game for PlayStation 5, preordering the $70 digital deluxe edition will unlock 48 hours of early access(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/control-resonant-has-48-hours-early-access-but-only-on-ps5/) to the game. For more on the next title from Remedy Entertainment, you can explore how Control Resonant deals with heavy themes of trauma and redemption(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/control-resonant-deals-with-trauma-and-redemption/).
