Xbox Sales “More Than Doubled” In June 2026 In The US, While PS5 And Switch 2 Dropped🎮 PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Multi-platform

Xbox Sales “More Than Doubled” In June 2026 In The US, While PS5 And Switch 2 Dropped

Circana, formerly NPD, has released its latest monthly sales report for the US video game industry, and one key takeaway was that Xbox was the only console platform to grow in sales during the month. Xbox Series X|S unit sales grew by 86% compared to June 2025(https://bsky.app/profile/matpiscatella.bsky.social/post/3mrafirrlwt2s), and June 2026 was the best month so far in 2026 for Xbox Series X|S sales, Circana said. In June 2025, Xbox Series X|S sales were negatively impacted by the price increase that was put into effect in May 2025, Circana's Mat Piscatella added. The Switch 2, meanwhile, saw its unit sales fall by 78% in June 2026(https://bsky.app/profile/matpiscatella.bsky.social/post/3mragh6ffts2m) compared to June 2025. The drop off was expected, of course, because June 2025 was when the Switch 2 launched, and it saw big sales out of the gate that would make a year-over-year comparison difficult. PS5 unit sales in June 2026 fell by 43% compared to June 2025, Piscatella added. In terms of dollar sales, Xbox Series X|S sales more than doubled, Circana said, with Switch 2 hardware spending falling by 79% and PS5 dipping by 19%. Xbox's year-over-year gains in June 2026 were not enough to offset the declines from PlayStation 5 and Switch 2, with total spending on hardware in the US dropping a mighty 62%, falling to $383 million. The Switch 2, despite its lower sales and revenue volume in June 2026 compared to June 2025, was June 2026's best-selling platform ranked by unit and dollar sales. Additionally, the Switch 2 is 2026's best-selling platform overall by those measurements, with PS5 ranking second and Xbox Series X|S third. In terms of game sales, UFC 6 was the No. 1 best-selling game in the US during June 2026(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/top-20-best-selling-games-of-2026-so-far-in-the-us/2900-7514/1), while Resident Evil Requiem remains 2026's best-selling game overall so far(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/top-20-best-selling-games-of-2026-so-far-in-the-us/2900-7514/1).

I Wanted RoboCop: Rogue City 2 And All I Got Was This TV Series Announcement🎮 Multi-platform

I Wanted RoboCop: Rogue City 2 And All I Got Was This TV Series Announcement

Amazon MGM Studios has officially greenlit production on a new RoboCop TV series. Based on the classic 1987 movie directed by Paul Verhoeven, the series has already recruited Peter Ocko (Lodge 49) as its showrunner, while The Conjuring's James Wan will serve as one of its producers. "I've been a massive fan of RoboCop forever, so getting to help bring this world to television is a dream," Wan said in a press statement (via Deadline(https://deadline.com/2026/07/robocop-series-ordered-amazon-blumhouse-atomic-monster-1236999196/)). "What Paul Verhoeven created in 1987 was decades ahead of its time, and its questions about technology, identity, and who corporations really serve have only grown more urgent. With Peter's distinctive vision and bold approach to storytelling, and alongside Ed Neumeier, co-creator and our partners at Amazon MGM Studios, we're working to honor what made the original iconic and highlight its relevancy in this modern, tech-driven world, while building something unmistakably new for a global audience." This isn't the first time that RoboCop has hit the streets of Old Detroit on TV, as following the release of the first film, an animated series debuted in 1988. Two more film sequels followed--and failed to recapture the magic of Verhoeven's first movie--and there was even a live-action series in 1994 that ran for 21 episodes. RoboCop would return in 1998 for the Alpha Commando animated series, and following the TV miniseries Prime Directives, the IP went dormant until the release of the underrated RoboCop remake in 2014, starring Joel Kinnaman as the exact philosophical opposite(https://youtu.be/HSVMv7agFhI) of Karl Havoc(https://youtu.be/J4Fv3LFGCgo?t=70). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO0UYzA4EbI Other than a RoboCop guest fighter appearance in Mortal Kombat 11, the series was back on hiatus until the release of RoboCop: Rogue City(https://www.gamespot.com/games/robocop-rogue-city/) in 2023. Developer Teyon produced a surprisingly faithful take on RoboCop(https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/robocop-rogue-city-review-id-buy-that-for-a-dollar/1900-6418149/), pulling inspiration from the first two movies in the series to recreate Old Detroit in all its dystopian glory. Reviews were generally warm, and while the game is a complete break from the fast-paced action games that currently dominate the first-person shooter genre, the attention to detail, downtime between missions, and satisfying gunplay make it a worthy successor to the RoboCop legacy. In 2025, Teyon released a standalone expansion that pitted RoboCop against an army of mercenaries, and also included flashback missions that allowed players to step into the shoes of Alex Murphy(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/robocop-rogue-city-expansion-will-let-you-play-as-the-fleshy-version-of-the-ultimate-cop/1100-6529938/) before he was given a ballistics makeover. As for Teyon, the studio's next game isn't a Rogue City sequel, but Hunter: The Reckoning - Deathwish. A new action game set in the World of Darkness, it was officially revealed during the Xbox March 2026 Partner Showcase(https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/xbox-partner-preview-march-2026-all-the-big-announcements/2900-7639). The game follows a team of hunters on a mission to take down a dangerous vampire, and it'll be out in 2027. A new RoboCop game might also be in jeopardy, as Nacon, the publisher of Rogue City, recently filed for insolvency(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/robocop-rogue-city-publisher-nacon-files-for-insolvency-despite-recently-announcing-a-showcase/1100-6538412/).

NBA 2K is the court that never locks up, it's always open whether you're in Paris or San Antonio. It's how you study the game, sharpen your IQ, and live basketball 24/7. To be the face of a game that fuels that hunger for hoops and whose covers immortalize the all-time greats; that’s a dream come true for me.” - Caitlin Clark: "Being on the cover of NBA 2K27 is special because this game reaches fans all over the world. To be the first WNBA player on her own global cover means women's basketball gets to show up on that stage too, and I am proud to be part of that." - Derrick Rose: "It’s crazy looking back at being on the NBA 2K13 cover to now having my own edition for NBA2K27. During my journey, there have been coaches who believed in me, teammates who made me better, and fans who showed up louder than I ever expected. So, this is a chance to inspire young athletes to stay obsessed with the game. To show them that when you put in the countless hours of hard work, it rewards you.” NBA 2K27 launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on September 4. FC 27 Cover Star Announced, And It’s An Obvious Choice

EA Sports has announced the cover star for FC 27's Ultimate Edition, and it's none other than superstar Kylian Mbappe. His national team, France, may have lost to Spain in the World Cup semifinals this year, but Mbappe scored a tournament-best 10 goals, earning himself the Golden Boot award. Mbappe was also on the cover of FIFA 23 in 2022; that was when EA and FIFA were still in business together prior to the name change to FC. EA Sports will share more details on FC 27 on July 27, so be sure to check back soon for more. https://twitter.com/EASPORTSFC/status/2079582337264726271 Mbappe, 27, said in a statement that it is a "very special moment" and an "honor" to continue partnering with EA for its professional football series. "Kylian’s achievements for both club and country have established him as one of the defining players of his generation," EA Sports VP Jeff Sharma said, as reported by VGC(https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/kylian-mbappe-is-the-ea-sports-fc-27-ultimate-edition-cover-athlete-marking-his-return-to-the-cover-after-four-years/). Mbappe plays for Real Madrid, where he makes many millions of dollars as a salary, not to mention his lucrative off-pitch endorsement deals. The FC series is known to have multiple cover stars for its different editions, so it's unclear who may grace the cover of FC 27's standard edition. FC 26 featured Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the cover of its Ultimate Edition, along with Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala gracing the cover of the Standard Edition together. In other news, EA's World Cup simulation correctly predicted Spain to win this year, and the simulation has not been wrong since 2006(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/world-cup-2026-sim-by-ea-sports-predicts-an-expected-winner/).

Count Binface Is Making A Campaign Promise That Every Sega Fan Can Get Behind🎮 Multi-platform

Count Binface Is Making A Campaign Promise That Every Sega Fan Can Get Behind

The campaign season is heating up, and by now, you're probably used to politicians making grand promises that won't be fulfilled. Across the pond in England, at least one "independent space warrior" is making a push to get Sega fans on his side, as Count Binface's bid to be elected the new MP of Clacton has seen him call on Sega to reopen its beloved West End Arcade and get Shenmue 4 into production. "I need to say a galactic hello to Sega, on behalf of the Shenmue fans," Count Binface said in a new video that was shared by the fansite Shenmue Dojo. "I've got a little bone to pick with you, because the fans would like to campaign for an update from you, Sega, about Shenmue 4. They can't leave you guys on another cliffhanger for years! Yes, I wonder whether Sega needs to be nationalized along with Adele. What do you say? Should we harness the power of the Shenmue to ensure that there is no delay with updates ever again? I'd quite like to reboot Sega World in London's Trocadero and have old Sonic the Hedgehog back in his prime. Oh, that would be wonderful." https://www.youtube.com/shorts/4Fya52XGinQ?feature=share Count Binface ended the video with a LetsGetShenmue4 hashtag, and as spotted by Metro(https://metro.co.uk/2026/07/21/count-binface-demands-sega-bring-back-london-arcade-make-shenmue-4-29190664/), this was likely a Cameo video commissioned by Shenmue Dojo to campaign for the game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fans-campaign-for-shenmue-4-with-times-square-ad-in-new-york/1100-6523961/) a while back. The intergalactic politician hasn't shared the video on his social media platforms, but as far back as 2021, when he was running to be the next mayor of London, he did include plans to resurrect the beloved Trocadero arcade in his manifesto, fondly remembered as the SegaWorld arcade that could be found in London's West End. A fixture since its opening in 1996, it sadly closed down in 2011 as Sega faced a decline in its arcade business. While Count Binface probably wouldn't have the power to resurrect that iconic arcade, he probably has earned a few new voters by expressing his passion for gaming, along with other policies revolving around cheap ice cream and nationalizing the singer Adelle. The Count will be facing off against Reform's controversial leader Nigel Farage--and dozens of other candidates--in the Clacton-on-Sea by-election, which will be held on August 13. Meanwhile, Shenmue fans recently had the rug pulled out from under them when a fake Shenmue 4 trailer went viral earlier this year. Ys Net, the studio founded by Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki, condemned the trailer and said that it was considering legal action(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/shenmue-studio-considering-legal-action-over-fake-shenmue-4-trailer/1100-6536759/) against the creator of the video. While there's no word yet on Shenmue 4 getting the green light, Virtua Fighter Crossroads and its focus on story-driven action should be a fine substitute(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/virtua-fighter-crossroads-shenmue/).
