Xbox “Must Have Exclusive Content,” CEO Says🎮 PlayStation, Xbox, Multi-platform

Xbox “Must Have Exclusive Content,” CEO Says

Asha Sharma has now been the Xbox CEO for 100 days, following her surprising elevation to the role earlier this year. Under Sharma's predecessor, Phil Spencer, Xbox-exclusive games migrated to PlayStation 5 even as Xbox console users have continued to ask for more exclusives(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/microsoft-gaming-is-dead-to-be-replaced-by-return-to-xbox-branding-report/1100-6539586/). Sharma has previously indicated a willingness to reconsider exclusivity(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/microsoft-gaming-is-dead-to-be-replaced-by-return-to-xbox-branding-report/1100-6539586/) going forward, but now she's shared her belief that Xbox needs exclusives to shore up its future. "We're the number two publisher in the world and in order to be a great publisher, you must have your games reach large audiences to play," said Sharma while appearing on Bloomberg's recent live event(https://www.youtube.com/live/7xjSFDE7Pps). "At the same time, we're increasingly becoming a platform. In order to be a platform, you must have exclusive content and ... we're looking at that very closely. I think that we have to be very thoughtful about each title on how we want to think about it and learn from similar cases in the industry. And that's what we're doing." While looking ahead to her next 100 days, Sharma noted that she would love to see Xbox "be the number one gaming and entertainment company." However, she acknowledged that the gaming division is struggling. "We're long on gaming, we're long on Xbox," said Sharma. "We'll keep investing, but we've got work to do. You shared the numbers, we're not in a healthy spot and so you know the next 100 days is going to be about resetting the business ... We need to look at how we're investing, how we're prioritizing, change how we operate in order to return to growth, in order to be where the world plays." Sharma also directly addressed the fact that console prices are rising during this generation instead of falling as they had in previous generations. To counter that, she said "it will require fundamental change in terms of how we innovate and how we think about the business models and how we go bring this to market." "The biggest challenge and opportunity is how do you make affordable products during that time?," said Sharma when talking about the ongoing memory shortages and AI-driven expenses. "And that's what the next hundred days will be about." She went on to say that pulling co-pilot from Xbox was her decision, and it was done because players weren't excited about that feature. "We're going to be really thoughtful about how we ship AI," said Sharma. "My job is to think about where we invest, what we prioritize, and how we operate." Sharma went on to credit Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella for giving her the "latitude to make the best decisions for our players." She also reiterated her belief in AI's benefits as a tool for game development. Under Sharma's watch, Xbox recently had a light rebrand to XBOX(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-ceo-wants-to-know-if-you-spell-it-xbox-or-xbox/1100-6539930/), while lowering the price of Game Pass and removing new Call of Duty titles from Xbox Game Pass at launch(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/game-pass-gets-price-drop-new-call-of-duty-games-no-longer-included/1100-6539523/). Microsoft will hold its next Xbox Xbox Games Showcase(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-games-showcase-set-for-june-7-gears-of-war-e-day-deep-dive-to-follow/1100-6539086/) on Sunday, June 7.

Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis Gets February 2027 Release Date In New Trailer

!Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis Trailer Release Date PlayStation State of Play(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/4416f948/tr1.jpg.webp) Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/tomb-raider-legacy-of-atlantis), the Unreal Engine 5 remake of Lara Croft's very first adventure(https://www.gameinformer.com/the-game-awards-2025/2025/12/11/tomb-raider-legacy-of-atlantis-is-a-remake-of-the-first-game-in-the) in development at Flying Wild Hog and Crystal Dynamics, will launch on February 12, 2027, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. That's technically a delay, since it was originally set to launch sometime in 2026. This release date was revealed during today's PlayStation State of Play in a new trailer, and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis continues to look sharp, highlighting a return to the more classic style of Lara Croft games while reimagining her very first adventure in 1996's Tomb Raider. Check it out in the new Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis trailer below: As Lara Croft, you must harness your wits and athleticism to explore exotic locations lost to time, according to the game's description: "From the jungles of Peru to the ancient ruins of Greece, the deserts of Egypt, and a mysterious Mediterranean island shrouded in Myth – traverse treacherous landscapes, solve deadly contraptions, and face lethal predators as you hunt for the scattered pieces of the Scion, an artifact of immeasurable power." On top of all of that, there are also dinosaurs, and who doesn't love a little dinosaur-related crisis in their action games? Okay, maybe Lara doesn't, but it looks like a good time for us. In case you missed it, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/tomb-raider-legacy-of-atlantis) is just one of the upcoming games starring Lara Croft. Developer Crystal Dynamics is also working on a brand-new adventure called Tomb Raider: Catalyst,(https://gameinformer.com/href) which is due out sometime next year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While waiting for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, check out the game's reveal trailer(https://www.gameinformer.com/the-game-awards-2025/2025/12/11/tomb-raider-legacy-of-atlantis-is-a-remake-of-the-first-game-in-the) from last year, and then read this feature(https://www.gameinformer.com/2025/12/15/tomb-raider-devs-explain-series-timeline-lara-crofts-new-voice-and-links-between) about the series' timeline, Lara Croft's new voice, and links between this remake and Catalyst. Developer Bethesda Game Studios, however, will begin testing PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game this month, with plans to roll out the update sometime this Summer. This news was announced in the Infestations update release notes (that you can read here(https://fallout.bethesda.net/en/article/7uZ5caUi4lqZxmhKDXqEAV/fallout-76-infestations-release-notes)), which also explains that Fallout 76 will get PlayStation 5 Pro support. Anyone who already owns Fallout 76 will be able to download the Xbox Series X/S or PS5 test versions from their respective stores and try out the updated game. Bethesda says once testing is complete, it plans to release the update later this Summer. Here's what you can expect in the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Fallout 76: - Targeted 60 FPS across PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S - Improved draw distances - Improved shadows - 4K resolution (on compatible displays) on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X Editor's Note: Xbox Series S 4K support is not planned - Variable Refresh Rate on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S - PS5 and PS5 Pro will support 1440p, while previous-generation platforms will continue to support 1080p. In Game Informer's Crimson Desert review(https://www.gameinformer.com/review/crimson-desert/open-world-overload), we said the game lacked narrative depth, and according to the latest roadmap for the open-world action game, the studio is working to fix that. Plus, Pearl Abyss promises new combat-focused content, cross-save functionality, and more between now and September. "We plan to roll these updates out gradually from June through September, and we're preparing them to be enjoyable both for those who have spent many hours in Pywel and for those who are just beginning their journey," the roadmap(https://crimsondesert.pearlabyss.com/en-US/News/Notice/Detail?boardNo=95) reads. "Your feedback will continue to be an important reference throughout development, so please continue to share it with us." Pearl Abyss says the listed updates in today's roadmap are not where the team's support for Crimson Desert ends, noting, "We are also hard at work on an upcoming DLC for Crimson Desert, and while we cannot share the details just yet, we are preparing it as a meaningful addition to your journey." Here's the list of planned updates for Crimson Desert, according to Pearl Abyss' latest roadmap: !Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/03/10/05ba8ace/crimsondesertdeer.jpg.webp) - Story Improvements: Pearl Abyss says it is carefully reviewing story-related feedback from players and, to strengthen the narrative flow of Kliff's journey and make it more engaging, is working to refine and improve the coherence of key scenes. - New Combat Content: New combat-focused content will be added to Crimson Desert, according to Pearl Abyss, "allowing players to prove their true strength as a Greyman." - Cross-Save: The studio says it is actively working on a cross-save feature to allow players to continue their journey in Pywel across different platforms. "By linking your account, you will be able to share save files across platforms and continue your journey on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox," the roadmap reads. - Re-Blockade Update: Pearl Abyss writes in the roadmap that a new phase for Re-Blockade is being developed to "make the flow before and after a blockade more natural, along with ways to defend certain strongholds from the threat of invasion." It also says the rewards will be improved to make liberating strongholds feel more rewarding. - Damiane and Oongka Gameplay Improvements:Pearl Abyss is working on improving the overall gameplay experience for Damiane and Oongka experiences in Crimson Desert, noting that "various adjustments will be made so that all three playable characters can get a share of the spotlight." - Quality of Life Improvements for Non-Combat Content: The roadmap reads, "We will continue making improvements to non-combat content, such as trading and farming, to address areas that players have found inconvenient." To close out the roadmap, Pearl Abyss says the planned features above are currently in development and that details may change as updates are released. All of the updates listed above are expected to hit Crimson Desert between now and September. In the meantime, read Game Informer's Crimson Desert review(https://www.gameinformer.com/review/crimson-desert/open-world-overload) and then check out how Crimson Desert runs on PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X(https://www.gameinformer.com/2026/03/23/update-crimson-desert-console-impressions-playstation-5-pro-and-xbox-series-x). Brutal First-Person Horror Game ILL Still Looks Terrifying In New Story Trailer

!Game Informer News(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/06/02/84ac5913/illscreen2026.jpg.webp) Team Clout once again revealed its first-person horror game Ill during today's State of Play. To the surprise of no one who has kept up with the game since its original reveal last summer(https://gameinformer.com/sgf-2025/2025/06/06/ill-is-a-survival-horror-game-made-by-people-who-worked-on-longlegs-it), it looks as gruesome as ever. Today's trailer showed a bit more story, with the protagonist exploring a fort overtaken by some type of evil entity. The facility is filled with horrors ranging from infant-like creatures to hallway-filling monstrosities. Today's trailer is definitely not for the faint of heart, but feel free to give yourself some nightmare fuel by giving it a watch. Ill has no release date but it's coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
