Valve Just Raised The Price Of The Steam Deck By Hundreds Of Dollars

While the LCD version of the Deck has been discontinued (but is still great and available second-hand), the OLED 512GB and 1TB versions are now back in stock, but with increased prices that "reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges across the industry as a whole," Valve has announced. The 512GB OLED Deck will now cost $789, up from $549, and the 1TB OLED Deck will now cost $949, up from $649 – that's a $240 and $300 price jump, respectively. That makes yesterday the best time to buy a Steam Deck because these new prices are in effect immediately. While unfortunate for would-be buyers, this price jump isn't all that surprising. Valve joins PlayStation(https://gameinformer.com/2026/03/27/sony-announces-playstation-5-and-portal-price-increases-coming-next-week), Xbox(https://gameinformer.com/2025/05/01/xbox-console-and-accessory-price-increases-begin-today-80-first-party-games-starting), and Nintendo(https://gameinformer.com/2026/05/08/the-switch-2-is-getting-a-price-increase) in raising hardware prices in response to current logistics-related computing costs. RAM, in particular, is especially hard to come by these days as AI companies buy it up in bulk to power data centers and more, and it doesn't help that the U.S. President has enacted tariffs that affect countries worldwide, including America, when it comes to costs. World Of Tanks’ New Arcade Spin-Off Launches On May 26
World of Tanks(https://www.gamespot.com/games/world-of-tanks/) developer Wargaming has announced a release date for its new spin-off, World of Tanks: Heat(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/world-of-tanks-heat-is-a-hero-shooter-where-the-heroes-have-customizable-tanks/1100-6534079/). A standalone tactical vehicle-shooter, the free-to-play game launches on May 26 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and is designed to be a faster take on the armored warfare of the original World of Tanks game. The developer says that World of Tanks: Heat has been built completely from the ground up inside of its new proprietary engine, which is designed to offer dynamic gameplay and modern visuals. It's optimized for use across a wide variety of hardware configurations, including Steam Deck for PC players. The launch day version of Heat will offer plenty of content, including Agents who each have access to two vehicles, three battlefield roles--Defender, Assault, and Marksman--15 vehicles that can be customized through equipment upgrades, and eight maps to battle on. Four PvP game modes will also be available, with players having the option to battle other teams in Hardpoint, Control, Kill Confirmed, and Conquest matches across an alternative timeline set after World War 2.
