Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: How to get the Rope Dart
Summary

In the original 2013 release of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, the Rope Dart was an awesome weapon that let Edward Kenway snag enemies from afar, pulling them towards him for a nice sword thrust to the gut. Unfortunately, it only became accessible in Sequence 11 of the campaign, meaning that players had to wait a good number of hours before they could begin weaving it into their infiltration and assassination routines. Basically, it was an endgame tool that would've come in handy earlier.
Black Flag Resynced fixes this grievous error, letting players obtain the Rope Dart much, much sooner. In this guide, we'll delve into how to get the Rope Dart in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and how to use it, ensuring that you won't have to wait long before you can start stringing up rival privateers from trees.

How to get the Rope Dart
Edward will automatically receive the Rope Dart from James Kidd in Sequence Three of the game, during the mission Sugarcane and its Yields. This mission takes place roughly three to four hours into Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, shortly after Edward has gotten the Jackdaw up and running and begun assembling a crew to tackle enemy ships.
James Kidd specifically gives Edward the Rope Dart as the pair sit around a bonfire at the start of the mission, chatting about opportunities to rob a plantation. Once the Rope Dart's in your possession, you'll have the chance to put it into action immediately afterwards on some unsuspecting Redcoats.
How to use the Rope Dart
The Rope Dart has two main uses:
- Hang enemies from high perches during stealth and exploration sequences
- Pull enemies toward you (like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat) during combat to disorient them, making them vulnerable to Takedowns or Assassinations
To hang enemies from a perch, you need to be in an appropriate high spot overlooking them. If you're using the default controller layout, you'll see a Hang prompt. Press RB to pull this off. Edward will skewer the foe from above and rope them up, hangman-style.

To pull enemies toward you, press Right Trigger + B. Edward will fire off the Rope Dart, dragging whichever enemy you've targeted towards him. This is a useful tactic to catch foes off guard or simply to close the distance in the midst of a fight. If you spot an enemy with a gun aiming at you, utilising the Rope Dart will also give you a chance to interrupt their shot and go in for a kill.

Keep in mind that the Rope Dart has a cooldown, so you can't spam it over and over again. If you've purchased the Deluxe Edition of Black Flag Resynced, however, you'll have the Master Assassin Character Pack. This pack comes with a golden Brass Bird Trinket that you can equip to reduce the cooldown of the Rope Dart substantially.
And that's how to get the Rope Dart in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. Acquiring this nifty tool early on opens up many possibilities for varied assassinations, and is only one of the major changes that comes with this remaster.
