Lego reveals 5 new Pokémon sets: first photos and details

Pokémon turned 30 this year, and like plenty of 30-year-old millennials, it's getting into Lego. The Pokémon Company and Lego collaborated for the first time earlier in 2026, with sets featuring Pikachu, Eevee, and the Kanto starters' final evolutions. On Tuesday, Lego revealed its next batch of Pokémon sets, including one for a fan-favorite Legendary Pokémon. Three will be released Aug. 1, the same day as the recently revealed Smart Play Pokémon sets, while the Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball and the giant Red figure will be released Oct. 1.

Munchlax, Arcanine, and Rayquaza are all on the way. Munchlax is the smaller (but no less hungry) Pokémon that evolves into the very rotund Snorlax, a Generation 1 icon. Its set will include some decoration as Munchlax sits on a tree stump with apple cores around him. Like so many of the Pokémon featured in Lego's previous Pokémon sets, Arcanine is from the Kanto region. Unlike the Munchlax set, there are no flourishes in the Arcanine set; all the nearly 1,200 pieces are for putting together the fire-type hound.

Rounding out the newly announced sets is one for Rayquaza, the Legendary that debuted in Pokémon Emerald. The green dragon flies in the clouds above the top of the Sky Pillar, its location in Emerald. At the Sky Pillar stands a Lego minifigure, a new feature for the Lego Pokémon sets, of Lorekeeper Zinnia. "The intentionality goes so deep that we don't have any minifigures in the assortment because children are the Trainers," The Lego Group design director Siddharth Muthyala previously told Polygon about the first wave of Pokémon sets.

Because of those comments, it's surprising that the next two sets are all about Pokémon trainers. The Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball is a giant Poké Ball that includes three Pokémon Trainer minifigures (Professor Oak, Picnicker, and Red) and figures for Pikachu and Eevee. It's the most expensive of the bunch at $299.99 and includes the most pieces with 2,339. Trainer Red gets scaled-up with his own super-sized set that's almost a foot tall.

All the sets are currently available for pre-order from Lego. Munchlax, Arcanine, and Rayquaza will be released Aug. 1, while the Poké Ball and Red Minifigure will be out Oct. 1.

2026 has been a big year for all things Pokémon — games, trading cards, you name it — and that includes merch.
