Overview & Key Takeaways

The carry-on bags feature all sorts of small touches that hark back to Pokémon starters

The Pokémon Company is celebrating the franchise's 30th anniversary in all sorts of ways, from special card sets to a Game Boy music player. Many of these celebratory items are cool, but not particularly surprising. In late June, the pocket monster company added some unexpected products to its anniversary lineup: carry-on bags.

Functionally, the bags work as you'd expect. They come in three colors, each corresponding to the basic starter elements. A nice touch here is that the outer shells depict 30 years' worth of starters — the red one has Charmander and Litten, while the blue one has Squirtle and Popplio, and so on. The soft inner portion of the bags, which come with dividers to sort your belongings, depict full-color versions of the same starters. The zipper ends are shaped like Poké Balls, and there's a side hook where you can attach small items.

These details would be enough to tempt many Pokémon fans, but they're not even the best part. The real selling point is that all the bags have a small window near the top that is meant to show off your favorite plushies. It's truly the most kawaii way to travel.

The Pokémon Center has an incredible number of plushies to choose from, including a new set of Pokopia-themed stuffies. The Sitting Pokémon Cuties line is a particularly great fit for these bags.

Here's the sad part: so far, The Pokémon Company has only announced availability for these bags in Japan. As per usual, Japan gets the best Pokémon merch. Even if you're not about to import a brand-new bag from overseas, these products are so outstanding that any Pokémon fan will appreciate them. Or, you know, seethe in jealousy.

At least we'll get to pay scalpers for those nice 30th-anniversary Pokémon cards?

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta Will Do Something No Previous CoD Beta Has

Activision has announced that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta will have more than just multiplayer content. The MW4 beta will also include access to the campaign mission, Entrenched, along with the upcoming Warzone mode, Resurgence Zodiac(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/cod-modern-warfare-4-beta-may-include-a-new-warzone-map/). Activision will show off some of this content during the Call of Duty: Next event on August 21. As announced previously, the beta begins with an early access period August 21-25 for people who preorder, before opening up to everyone to try August 28-September 1. The early-access beta will not be available on Switch 2, as preorders for the Switch 2 version don't begin until August 28. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Screenshot-2026-08-14-at-10.47.27-AM.png) The MW4 beta approaches. Activision also revealed all the maps, modes, and content in the beta. You can find the full details in GameSpot's rundown of the MW4 beta(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-beta-dates-revealed-heres-how-to-get-in/). Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 releases on October 23 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2, and preordering grants access to the campaign a week before launch(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-brings-back-campaign-early-access-heres-how-to-get-it/). The game coming to Switch 2 is notable since the franchise hasn't appeared on a Nintendo platform since 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts. MW4 is also the first entry since Ghosts in 2013 to skip PS4 and Xbox One. Infinity Ward is leading development on the game, which comes after back-to-back Black Ops releases, the latter of which, 2025's Black Ops 7, had the worst sales ranking in the US since 2008(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/black-ops-7-had-call-of-dutys-worst-sales-year-ranking-in-the-us-since-2008/1100-6537567/). Also noteworthy for Modern Warfare 4 is that it will not launch directly into Xbox Game Pass, as both Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 did.
