Hulu’s Handmaid’s Tale sequel is so good, it’s already renewed for season 2

Overview & Key Takeaways

Hulu's The Testaments, a sequel to The Handmaid's Tale, has been renewed for a second season.

The Handmaid’s Taleremains one of the greatest literary masterpieces of all time. The TV adaptation, developed by showrunner Bruce Miller, has also earned plenty of accolades since its debut in 2017. It’s no surprise, then, that The Testaments (also led by Miller) is one of the biggest (and bleakest) hits of 2026 so far.

Produced by MGM Television and 20th Television, The Testaments, based on the book of the same name by Margaret Atwood, wrapped its first season in late May. However, Hulu’s fresh dystopian thriller won both the hearts and the minds of its audience, with a second season renewal confirmed even before The Testaments’ finale had aired.

The series follows Agnes (Chase Infiniti), the biological daughter of June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) from the original series. Unlike her mother, whose life was ripped away from her, Agnes has never known life beyond the oppressive, patriarchal walls of Gilead. However, when the rebellious Mayday spy Daisy (Lucy Halliday) arrives at Aunt Lydia’s (Ann Dowd) elite school for future wives (also known as Plum Girls) of Commanders, Agnes is forced to confront the true horrors of Gilead’s society.

Does The Testaments season 2 have a release date?

At the time of writing, The Testaments season 2 does not yet have a release date, but fans have speculated that — following the quick pace of The Handmaid’s Tale seasons — a second season of The Testaments could be ready as soon as 2027.

What's the plot of The Testaments season 2?

Outside the renewal, not much else has been confirmed about The Testaments' second season. However, drawing on what we know from the book — and how The Testaments' first season ended — we have some ideas about where Agnes and her fellow Plum Girls will go next.

Last we left off, Daisy’s plans to unite the girls of the Gilead school to fight back against their oppressors seemed to be successful, having taken Agnes and Shunammite (Rowan Blanchard) under her wing. And not a moment too soon, as Daisy had only recently started her period, meaning that she too will now be expected to participate in the brutal expectations of young women growing up in Gilead. If she wants to survive, she’ll need allies.

Then there’s Agnes, who now knows both her true identity — Hannah — and that her mother is June, a key figure in the Mayday resistance. With a legacy like that, we don’t doubt Agnes will join her mother’s side sooner rather than later.

Last but not least is the mystery surrounding Commander Judd (Charlie Carrick) and his goals. We know his wife keeps suffering from miscarriages, and in the original novel, because marriage is considered sacred in Gilead, Judd kills his wives to gain new ones. With Agnes’ engagement officially over, could this mean Judd will set his sights on Agnes? It’s uncertain, but we wouldn’t put it past that sleaze.

We know through The Testaments novel that change is coming to Gilead, but according to the showrunner, “sisterhood” will ultimately spell Gilead’s doom.

“No matter how much they tried to drive these girls apart, every single solution to almost every problem they faced was solved through communication between them with sisterhood, trust, and belief,” Miller said in an interview with Radio Times. “Also an absolutely unwavering belief that if I tell you something, you'll never tell."

Miller went on to explain that the leaders of Gilead incorrectly believe all it takes to shape Handmaids and Marthas is to break the spirits of these young girls before rebuilding them “from the ground up.” It’s an idea that Miller laughs at, stating, “They're teenage girls, they empower themselves in every way you can imagine."

The Testaments is available to stream on Hulu and Disney Plus.

Lego Batman's Joker And Harley Quinn DLC Drops Next Month Alongside Free Absolute Difficulty Update

!Game Informer News(https://gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/08/26/c49884f4/legobatmanlegacyofthedarkknight-harleyquinnthejoker.jpg.webp) Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is one of my favorite games of the year so far, and ever since I rolled credits, I've been eager to play the DLC. Announced prior to the game's launch, we knew it would focus on Harley Quinn and the Joker, and today, WB Games has pulled back the curtain on the new content. The new trailer includes gameplay, new suits for the Bat-family, and a release date: September 18. Check out the video below: Previous Lego Batman games were known for their large roster of playable characters – especially villains – but Legacy of the Dark Knight shrinks the cast to shine more of a spotlight on each of Batman's various partners. They all have character-specific gadgets that I always enjoyed discovering, so I've been looking forward to these new characters to see what the developers have cooked up. The Joker and Harley Quinn will get a new exclusive level, where they'll "orchestrate a breakout from Arkham Asylum with a going-away party Gotham City won’t soon forget," a press release states. The duo will also appear in Mayhem Mode, which has them rushing through Gotham to destroy landmarks, complete challenges, and fight off members of Task Force X (including Deathstroke, Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, and Katana). Each run of Mayhem Mode is timed, however, and you'll have to make it back to the Amusement Mile before the timer runs out and Batman and Robin hunt you down. The seven playable characters in the base game will also all get Joker-inspired suits, with Batman getting to wear the notorious Bat Who Laughs costume. All of the above is included in Legacy of the Dark Knight's deluxe edition, which you can upgrade to for $24.99 if you have the base game. On the same day, all versions of the game will receive a free update with the Absolute difficulty, which will surpass Dark Knight as the game's hardest difficulty. I'm particularly interested in checking this out, because it was one of my main faults with Legacy of the Dark Knight – even the hardest mode wasn't very challenging. This DLC pack and the free Absolute difficulty upgrade drop on September 18, which is also the same day the Switch 2 version of the game comes out. A Legendary Star Wars Vending Machine Is At The Center Of A Major Conspiracy

More than 27 years ago, Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace released in theaters, ushering in a new wave of fandom for one of the most important media franchises of all time. Since the film's release, one relic has been a constant: the Pepsi vending machine on Mt. Washington in Pittsburgh. It has remained and kept stocked with drinks ever since then, but it appears that has finally changed as part of some bizarre prank or heist. Below, you can see what the vending machine looks like--or looked like, depending on its fate. The graphics have faded over time but it's still drawing in thirsty customers with its giant Pepsi bottle on the front alongside some pod-racing action. https://twitter.com/connortonight/status/1278154371121983488 This week, however, the machine went missing. It was replaced with a pretty hilarious decoy, featuring a very poorly drawn recreation of the original machine's artwork. https://twitter.com/ztwhite23/status/2092476623371055439 Visitors have noticed(https://www.wpxi.com/news/local/questions-speculation-swirl-around-popular-star-wars-vending-machine-pittsburgh/HRUDAJPLY5BI7PPXS56IEU6RSU/) that the new machine has 10 buttons, while the original only had nine. It's been speculated that influencer Braeden Days(https://www.reddit.com/r/pittsburgh/comments/1v2y4d6/uhanybodyelse/?shareid=qqvFXBVaz6dMuz4zx3F68&utmcontent=1&utmmedium=androidapp&utmname=androidcss&utmsource=share&utmterm=1) may have swiped it, as he has threatened to do so in the past. It's possible the locals or the Pittsburgh Fire Department had something to do with it, as well, as it's located just outside a fire station. The new artwork has been compared(https://www.reddit.com/r/pittsburgh/comments/1vy8oxl/mtwashingtonstarwarsvendingmachinepainted/) to the infamous 2012 Jesus-painting restoration(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EcceHomo(Garc%C3%ADaMart%C3%ADnezandGim%C3%A9nez)), though it will be a lot easier to laugh at if the original machine makes a return. For more Star Wars action, you can check out Star Wars Zero Company(https://www.metacritic.com/game/star-wars-zero-company/) beginning August 27. This will be followed by Star Wars: Galactic Racer on October 6.
