inKONBINI, a game all about running a little Japanese corner store, can now be purchased in physical form. In it you get to know locals while enjoying the stories of the others within the neighborhood. There are lots of different, interesting conversations and branching choices throughout, as well as plenty of stock to place into the shelves!

We previously previewed inKONBINI:

“Nothing feels rushed in inKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories. Instead, it feels deliberate and like taking on the role of working in a small town in a known shop. I do like finding the little post-it notes with side quests on them as well, giving you something to do to pass the time.”

inKONBINI has now released fully as a physical edition in Japan and Asia, with a U.S. and European edition launching in September. This release is for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, and if you buy it on the Beep Store during the first week you can also get a promotional exclusive Yojoki Masters Trading Card Set.

The physical edition has two different types, one being a standard which includes the base game, a Honki Ponki sticker set, and two DLC codes, one for the exclusive Makoto costume and one for Yojoki Master Digital Manga. The limited edition of inKONBINI includes everything in the standard edition along with a welcome letter for the Store Manager, a Honki Ponki ID Lanyard and Makoto’s Employee ID, a notebook, a memo pad in the form of stick notes, a shift schedule stamp card, another sticker sheet, a physical soundtrack in the form of a cassette tape, the Yojoki Masters Manga and Gacha Toy, and a collectors box.

inKONBINI is such a fun little game and this physical edition, especially the limited one, is perfect for collectors with so many little add-ons!

Nintendo Reveals Digital Sales Up 90% Compared To Last Year, Switch 2 Units Top 23 Million, And More

!Game Informer News(https://gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2025/04/02/12807291/switch2preorder.jpg.webp) Nintendo has released its latest financial earnings report(https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2026/260806e.pdf), covering the first quarter of the fiscal year, which encompasses April through June 2026. In it, the company has revealed that digital sales revenue is up 90% year-over-year, that the Switch 2 sold nearly 4 million units in those three months, and that, unsurprisingly, Mario Kart World(https://gameinformer.com/product/mario-kart-world) continues to be the best-selling game on the console. According to Nintendo, digital sales totaled 132.7 billion yen (or roughly $837 million), up 90% year-on-year, "mainly due to an increase in sales of downloadable versions of packaged software." This figure arrives just weeks after Sony announced it will stop manufacturing discs for PlayStation games in 2028(https://gameinformer.com/2026/07/01/playstation-will-cease-production-of-physical-discs-for-new-games-in-january-2028), sparking an uproar among players who want to purchase physical copies. With rumors swirling that Xbox may follow suit, Nintendo could be the last of the Big Three console makers to release its games in a physical format (though players argue whether Nintendo's current go-to solution for physical releases, Game-Key Cards, is any different from a digital download key). Elsewhere in the company's earnings report, it states the "Nintendo Switch 2 hardware maintained strong sales momentum, with sales totaling 3.82 million units," bringing the total up to 23.68 million. Software units total 58.17 million. Looking at Switch 2 software, the company says Yoshi and the Mysterious Book(https://gameinformer.com/review/yoshi-and-the-mysterious-book/low-stakes-charm), Star Fox(https://gameinformer.com/review/star-fox-2026/mission-complete), and Pokemon Pokopia(https://gameinformer.com/review/pokemon-pokopia/a-pleasant-paradise) "sold well" but stops short of giving exact numbers for this fiscal quarter. Nintendo did reveal that Switch 2 software sales totaled 9.46 million during this latest fiscal quarter, adding that Switch software in the form of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream(https://gameinformer.com/review/tomodachi-life-living-the-dream/you-get-what-you-give) reached 7.94 million units. As a result of these earnings, Nintendo says it is not making changes to its original financial forecast for the fiscal year. "Nintendo Switch 2 is now in its second year since launch in June 2025 and sales continue to be strong," the report reads. "We aim to maintain momentum for the hardware and see it delivered together with software into the hands of a wide range of consumers." The company highlights recent releases and upcoming launches, including Splatoon Raiders (launched in July) and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (the remake) coming throughout the rest of the year. To close out this look at Nintendo's latest fiscal report, here are the sales numbers(https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/finance/software/index.html) for various Switch 2 and Switch games released so far (in total): - Mario Kart World: 15.39 million units – Our Review(https://gameinformer.com/review/mario-kart-world/roam-if-you-want-to) - Donkey Kong Bananza: 4.78 million units – Our Review(https://gameinformer.com/review/donkey-kong-bananza/breaking-through-to-something-new) - Pokemon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: 3.99 million units – Our Review(https://gameinformer.com/review/pokemon-legends-z-a/maintaining-rank) - Pokemon Pokopia: 3.68 million units – Our Review(https://gameinformer.com/review/pokemon-pokopia/a-pleasant-paradise) - Kirby Air Riders: 1.90 million units – Our Review(https://gameinformer.com/review/kirby-air-riders/star-ships-were-meant-to-fly) - Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: 1.15 million units – Our Review(https://gameinformer.com/review/super-mario-party-jamboree-nintendo-switch-2-edition-jamboree-tv/solid-base-with-tepid) Do any of these numbers surprise you? Star Ocean: The Second Story R Gets Switch 2 Edition, But With The Usual Square Enix Caveats

!Star Ocean The Second Story R Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Square Enix(https://www.gameinformer.com/sites/default/files/styles/bodydefault/public/2026/07/16/9731159c/staroceanthesecondr.jpg.webp) Square Enix has surprise-released a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Star Ocean: The Second Story R(https://www.gameinformer.com/product/star-ocean-the-second-story-r), its sci-fi RPG(https://www.gameinformer.com/nintendo-direct/2023/06/21/star-ocean-the-second-story-remake-announced) that launched on Switch (and PlayStation and PC) in 2023. This Switch 2 version boasts 1080p resolution, both docked and in handheld mode, with a 60 FPS frame rate, making it a big improvement over the significantly lower resolution and 30 FPS frame rate of the Switch version. But, this edition comes with the usual Square Enix caveats. Similar to the Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II Switch 2 editions(https://gameinformer.com/node/127099) announced earlier this week, anyone who wants to play this Star Ocean remake on Switch 2 will have to pay $49.99; there is no upgrade path for owners of the Switch 1 version, and your save data does not transfer. It's another step down this disappointing trend for Square Enix, which expects players to fork over more money to play a game they already own on a new system – the company doesn't even opt for low-cost upgrade paths, something even Nintendo itself(https://www.gameinformer.com/nintendo-direct/2025/04/02/metroid-prime-4-tears-of-the-kingdom-and-more-get-enhanced-switch-2) does with games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom(https://www.gameinformer.com/review/the-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom/such-great-heights) and more. Maybe Square Enix is seeing enough purchases to justify it, but it's not a player-friendly practice either way. Check out the Star Ocean: The Second Story R Nintendo Switch 2 edition trailer below: Star Ocean: The Second Story R is a remake of the original Star Ocean: The Second Story, which launched on PlayStation in the U.S. in 1999. It's about a Federation officer named Claude C. Kenny who is mysteriously transported to a mystical planet. There, he searches for a way home but is drawn into a quest to save the planet by a young girl who lives there, becoming wrapped up in an ancient prophecy in the process. Star Ocean: The Second Story R is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch 2, Switch, and PC. Editor's Note: This story has been updated to remove mention of Star Ocean: The Second Story R being an HD-2D game, as that is incorrect How do you feel about the way Square Enix handles Switch 2 re-releases?
