On Friday afternoon, Halo Studios published an extensive FAQ answering a number of questions about its upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved remake, Halo: Campaign Evolved. In a section covering how local, split-screen co-op will work on PlayStation 5, Halo Studios wrote, "If you're playing split-screen on PlayStation 5, both accounts will need to have PlayStation Plus and be linked to a Microsoft account. Having these active PlayStation Plus subscriptions will also provide access to online co-op play."

Following online frustration over this requirement, Halo Studios shared an update on X, writing, "We incorrectly stated that PlayStation Plus is required for local co-op splitscreen play. Local splitscreen co-op requires a PlayStation account for each player but does not require a PlayStation Plus account." It then updated the FAQ with the bolded addition, "A PlayStation Plus account is NOT required for local splitscreen co-op."

Paid PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live subscriptions are still required for online co-op play, but local play will not require any subscriptions. Both players will, however, still need accounts connected to the platform of choice, and PlayStation and Steam players will need to connect their accounts to a Microsoft account.

This means that playing Halo: Campaign Evolved split-screen won't be as simple as it was in 2001 with Halo: Combat Evolved, when the requirements of playing couch co-op were just plugging in a second controller and pressing start. This modern, over-complicated process of playing couch co-op games is not an invention of Halo: Campaign Evolved, but the mistaken and quickly retracted requirement of needing PlayStation Plus to play local, co-op certainly shines a spotlight on this frustrating facet of modern gaming.

In much cooler Halo: Campaign Evolved news, Halo Studios also published a six-hour video of the game's start screen, which you can check out below.

Watch God Of War Laufey Star Smash The Last Of Us Golf Club Prop On Her First Day

Deborah Ann Woll plays Faye in the upcoming PS5 game God of War Laufey(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/god-of-war-laufey-gameplay-release-date-and-everything-we-know-so-far/), and she had quite a memorable first day on set. At San Diego Comic-Con recently, she shared a story about how, on her very first day, she broke a famous prop from The Last of Us due to her strength and tenacity--only she didn't know the significance at the time. And now, footage of the event has arrived. "Unbeknownst to me, this was a very famous prop that they had used on The Last of Us," she said, going on to joke that it was "some sort of sporting equipment." It was actually a golf club prop, and you probably know what that means... "They gave it to me and I was supposed to use it like an axe. And I broke it," Woll said. Game director Ariel Lawrence added, "She swung it so hard, it cracked. And it echoed throughout the volume. And we were like, 'Hot damn, let's go.'" https://twitter.com/SonySantaMonica/status/2088280064974635337 God of War: Laufey is in the works now for PS5, and it's arriving in February 2027(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/surprise-god-of-war-laufey-has-a-release-date-and-its-kratos-led-sequel-has-been-announced/). Starring alongside Woll is The Boys actor Jack Quaid, who plays a gelatinous cube named Phranque(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/god-of-war-laufeys-phranque-is-far-from-just-a-cube/). A new Kratos-led game(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/surprise-god-of-war-laufey-has-a-release-date-and-its-kratos-led-sequel-has-been-announced/) is coming after that, and it will pick up where Laufey left off(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/kratos-next-god-of-war-game-will-pick-up-where-laufey-leaves-off/).

Wolverine on the PS5 made me care about Marvelโ€™s mutant for the first time

Going into my demo of Marvel's Wolverine, I mainly wanted to try out the game's very bloody combat. And it is delightfully bloody. But after two-ish hours of slashing and stabbing (and parrying!) enemies with Wolverine's claws, I left surprised - despite no previous attachment to the character, I was deeply endeared to Logan himself. &8230;
